Who is actually spreading fake news? So easy to avoid with a simple search.

Typical on the Trump right is how they falsely accuse the left of doing things that they (or their leaders) really do. One of them is spreading fake news. Every time they see something on the news they don't like, they immediately dismiss it as "fake news". They don't even bother to tells us how they know it's fake. They just tag it and pat each other on the back. And yet, there are few multi-page threads in this forum that do not contain some dose of fake news from the right.

In the time I have been posting here, I have seen so many instances in which the anti-Trump anti-QAnon crowd debunk lie after lie from the right-wing media... And the Trump follower who brought it simply bows out without acknowledging their mistake, only to return a few days later (sometimes just a few minutes later) with the next conspiracy theory.

Yesterday and today alone, I myself debunked a fake story about David Hoggs (the Parkland survivor that Rep Greene stalked) not being at school during the shooting... And another about Maxine Waters' daughter committing some criminal act. But debunking right-wing conspiracy theories about the fake "voter fraud", absurd Covid myths, the "Deep State", ... and many more, is a daily occurrence.

Every single time, the Trump supporter is debunked, when they use known sources of fake news. InfoWars, Redstate, Breitbart, Tucker Carlson, ... too many fake news sources to list. Rarely do they acknowledge that they were proven wrong. And every time they come back the next day with yet another fake news they take from their QAnon-inspired blogs. One would think that, after being debunked three or four times in a row, they would start wondering about the accuracy of their sources. But no.... They keep using them. Why is that? Have any of them EVER been right?

I have urged our friends on the right to do basic research before posting. But they won't. They appear to be doing it afterwards. When we have already debunked the story. Why not do it before posting it in the first place?

Most of the time it only takes a basic google search to debunk right-wing media and QAnon nonsense.

 

Go buy silver. Democrat media is pushing it, lying, saying it is another reddit plot while on reddit they say it's a trap.

 

And yet, I (and others) constantly prove on this forum that the right wingnut media knowingly lies every day (and Trump loyalists repeat the lies), and you can't prove that MSM does the same.

You are correct, RW propaganda is alive and well. Many people buy in to it with no regard to the possibility of it being completely fabricated, and don't care if you provide a million sources proving it wrong.

Curious though, have you urged your fiends on the left to do their research when they post complete BS? In my time here, I have seen an equal helping of it from both sides. I am kind of confused why you are so focused on what seems to be such a small sample.

Maybe the best thing to do would be to just ignore all of it if it bothers you that much. Seriously, you know most of it just to get a rise out of people anyway. Don't feed the trolls as they say.

Edit: your poll is kind of lacking. If you can find multiple sources, from different leaning outlets, it is probably somewhat based in reality. Maybe. Sometimes.

 

It is no question that the WSB reddit forum is full of Trumpers. They peddled the GME pump and dump, it is entirely within character that they move on to the next target, i.e. silver. I don't read that reddit, because it makes your brain bleed and is dangerous for your financial health.

 

I remember the thread that alleged Dem ballot box stuffing, "proven" by a video. The only problem: The video was taken in Russia.

Did the poster peddling the fake news ever apologize for wrongfully accusing Dems of a crime? No, they just abandoned the thread, only to open another one with RW lies smearing Dems a day later.

You've expressed the exact thoughts I've had dozens of times. It's discouraging to take the time to prove what conservatives here say is factually inaccurate only to see the same lie be repeated over and over.

 

If, on the rare occasion I am caught out in error (posting in haste before fact checking or simply not enough time to check every source) I do try to acknowledge it and apologise and I always feel shamed I have it wrong

So many that right wingers keep pushing on this forum, despite the fact that they are again and again and again proven wrong.

You had to go way back to 2018 to find your example. I could give you examples from today, yesterday, .... you could even pick any random date in the last four years, and there will certainly be multiple examples.

Trumpers are in complete denial these days. Instead of arguing a point based on merit by providing facts to defend their position, they attack the source. They point to the fact a judge voted democrat once, or they were appointed by Carter so they are loyal to the democratic party lol! Then when you tell them it was a Trump appointed judge they respond with the judge is a traitor.

Just the other day, someone posted that the CDC had removed an article citing the dangers of HCQ from the website after Biden was inaugurated and it was proof of a conspiracy. So I took 5 seconds to search and I found out the poster was misinformed. Instead of taking 5 seconds to actually verify this source, the poster took those 5 seconds to spread lies on here. This is the mentality of the GOP. Spread lie after lie and when confronted with facts, attack the source or move on to the next lie.

I don't think forums now are for actual discussion, but rather an echo chamber to repost lies and confirmation bias.

 

That's the kind of boilerplate reply I get every time from conservatives when I cite MM and every time I make this challenge..........show me where they are wrong. No one ever takes the challenge.

Exactly, this sort of thinking comes from the love of personality rather than policies. In Trump world, there are two possibilities: For or against Trump. If someone is against Trump, in Trump fan mind it means that ALL of their actions are guided by their dislike of Trump. Their actions cannot be based on fact, sound policy, or the law. it must be sad to live in such a mistrusting mind set, in which every action of the opposition must have a nefarious motive.

 

In every grocery/drug/gas store in the US, when checking out, there are National Enquirers and other nonsense. Every person passing through these magazines makes a conscious decision to buy those or not...must be a huge percentage of those who buy them in order for them to maintain their prime merchandising locations. What percentage of people buy these and what percentage of the buyers believe the crap they read?

I have no problem with National Enquirers and other junk but I do wonder what kind of people support them? Same with Trump and other politicians...I have no problem with them but wonder what kind of people support them?

Each person makes a decision about what information they will digest and accept! I suggest most all people choose the information that makes them feel most comfortable...in other words information that does not challenge their positions. The root problem here is too many people choose information input for the wrong reasons! When they are incapable of making better decisions we have what we have today...
