I am curious, what makes one eligible for the vaccine in TX?

I know the eligibility in NJ, NY, CT and MA. All 4 states are different. This adds to the anger and outrage. I am curious to learn about other states.

Yep, this is really pissing me off.

Also, minorities in NYC are being pushed to the head of the line.
That is really gonna help with the divide in the country.

I’m an essential worker with an immune disorder and a history of cancer. Not sure how the math works out, but I’m in group 1C apparently.

Is there an age requirement? For example, under 65 in NJ with a single comorbidity is eligible.
In NY, no one under 65 is allowed.
In MA, you must have 2 comorbidities.
In CT, you must be over 75.
(all 4 states above allow essential workers but define them differently)

They’re definitely targeting older people at the moment. I’m 33 so I think that’s why I’m not higher up, even with my medical history.

yes, that is not right either, I can understand certain people like the elderly and the medical community going first, but race should play no part in this

imagine if they moved white people to the front of the line... that would be just as wrong

It's called an "our reach." It's needed since COVID has shown the systemic inequities inherent in certain communities.

Never mind the expensive campaign we have launched to stress the safety of the vaccine to these communities because they just don't want the vaccine.

so communities that refused to wear masks and social distance early on should be first to get the vaccine?

I'm from New York state too.

My doctors have been proactive by sending me a message not to call them about the vaccine. They'll contact me.

Even the pharmacy has a note displayed that they don't have the vaccine.

I'm pretty much at the back of the line to qualify. But, that could change as news just broke that people with schizophrenia are at elevated risk of dying of COVID 19, and I'm in that group.

In NY, there are no exceptions for any medical conditions. It's strictly by age and occupation.

Yeah, for now. But that can't last forever. I might get moved up in the line to get the vaccine before my peers around me.

Here in lies the problem. The demand is so great that opening it up to more would be even a bigger disaster. as it is now we are looking at $ months to get those done who are elIGIBLE NOW>
There is simply not enough vaccine and the manner in which folks have to hunt it down is inhuman.

Well, Biden just ordered another round of vaccines, so, eventually, the supply of vaccines will grow when the manufacturers are able to satisfy demand. Though, yes, like you say, it will take a few months.

Biden to increase vaccine supply to states as feds purchase 200 million more doses (msn.com)

I’m still awaiting word of its availability in my state (Ohio). I’m in the compromised group, age and health-wise, but I still haven’t found any info on whether I can get it.

That’s a good way of handling it. Many hospitals have online apps that you can access for info and use to send and receive messages. The one I use is called MyChart. You would think your primary care doctor would let you know via that. They remind me when I need a flu or pneumonia shot.

I assume it is his way of saying that there are a lot of unknowns concerning this experimental "vaccine" and that he has a well functioning immune system that can handle the job.

Known major side effects include autoimmune issues, bells palsy, and death. Who knows what other side effects (autoimmune related or otherwise) may arise in the long term from getting this experimental "vaccine".

I have a very well functioning immune system, and covid has a very high survival rate, so I see no reason to take a risk on this experiment that is being labeled a vaccine.
