I just posted a thread about Mississippi doing much the same starting tomorrow.

I'm always excited when government trusts citizens to take individual responsibility and treats us like adults. That may or may not produce the "optimum" result, depending on how results are measured and who is doing the measuring, but IMO, a free human is happier than a human caged against their will. :)

I'm not keeping up with announcements from all the state governors who are loosening restrictions, but it appears that several states are handing freedom back to the citizens. Hopefully some of the small businesses and jobs can be saved.

Texas, Florida, Mississippi, S Dakota, Tennessee.....kind of sounds like the governors have been talking amongst themselves about what is best for their people.

Getting back to life as normal, thanks Gov. Abbott. It's a horrible scenario for the doom and gloomers though who predicted NYC would be under water by now due to global warming. Read Al Gore's books for a good laugh.

He knows he can only "ask", but doesn't have that authority over the governors' responsibilities as the ultimate decision makers.

Oh I am sure he can rush to find some California federal judge to say it is perfectly legal....

Newsom is welcome to keep Califormians' double- triple- quadruple masked up if he decides. So can Gretchen and any other authoritarian.

I'm sure the Biden Administration would love to stomp out states' rights though, for some states.

“This does not remove personal responsibility,” Abbott said. “Personal vigilance is still needed to contain COVID. It’s just that now, state mandates are no longer needed.”

Governor Reeves in Mississippi said something similar.

Reeves says Mississippians are still encouraged to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

“Everyone should continue to listen to Dr. Dobbs and other health advisors for the best possible wisdom regarding how you can personally stem any risk of catching COVID. Their insight is valuable,” Reeves said.

    Abbott Tweeted the following:

He's saying that any stores that want to limit capacity or implement additional "safety protocols" is up to them. I sort of expect that one of the most popular groceries in Texas (HEB) will require masks at stores in Austin, but not at their stores in the small bedroom community towns just outside of Austin.

    .

The original problem was... various liberal cities/counties/businesses in Texas began implementing their own draconian rules. And unfortunately, that will probably still be a problem.

Yes, I'm sure that Austin, Dallas, Houston and El Paso will still try to keep the citizens in those major counties under the tightest control possible.

I need to see what my Mayor Adler is saying. I'm sure he's already trying to "Resist Freedom". LOL

President Joe today declared wearing masks mandatory in all federal buildings. But hair coverings are still optional. Seems hair sniffing of little girls will continue to be a thing in the Biden White House.

Doesn't look like any of the state health agencies have sent out any alerts since Abbott's announcement, except for Happy Independence Day!

DSHS is Texas' main health service department.

Yes, ordering enough vaccines by late Spring was Trump's plan. He had 400 million ordered before they were already approved. Thank God for Warp Speed!!! We're getting back on track.

Texas is doing a great job managing vaccine distribution under Abbott's watch.

20% of our vulnerable are fully vaccinated, and nearly half have had at least one shot of two.

    upload_2021-3-2_17-19-37.png

Johnson and Johnson's vaccine was just approved in the last several days, and doses are arriving in Texas TODAY!

    upload_2021-3-2_17-21-8.png

That's in spite of everything being down for almost a week for mother nature's Texas Deep Freeze.

Sure enough. My Mayor, and Travis County judge, are not happy. Most businesses in Austin are likely to either stay closed and/or require masks.

Adler to Austinites: "No Independence Day For You!!!!" LOL

The way he "leads" he wants to be. I'd be happy for him to move. He'd fit right in.

Hey, maybe Adler can get residency and run for CA Governor once Newsom is recalled. LOL
