Getting vaccinated and recovering in large numbers isn't really the issue, until most everybody in your loci are vaccinated. Until then, and I'm told we can ditch the masks, we (family) are wearing them out in public in places we interact with people. Not even a question.

If something were to "open' in my state and are able to remove their individual mask mandate, yet the state/county is still recommending them, guess who wins there?

It's really not a big deal... it's no major inconvenience (to me anyway)...

Virginia is also currently slowly returning to normal, but our Gov would never try to peddle "100% open" at this point...

Good for you, just don't expect me to buy that it's having any measurable effect at this point. It's a nuisance with very little upside. But hey, at least you're behaving like a good little lemming.

Joe just hit the perfect note here... I've been struggling with the best thing to call Abbott and others here...

'Neanderthal thinking': Biden lays into states lifting Covid restrictions

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/white-house-pushes-americans-wear-135642660.html

Of course, it's not a great insult if the people you are insulting have to look up what your insult means, but it's a learning moment for them....

Gov of AR lifted state restrictions on Friday 2/26 with the exception of masks but said the mask mandate should end by the end of March. I can tell you it's not enforced at all and in my area, very few wear a mask. Even at a dr. visit on Monday with someone, we didn't have to wear one, even the dr. didn't wear one.

Ah, yes. Biden is very consistent in hitting the perfect note of "Unity for all Americans". Nice job. He's trying to impersonate Trump with the insults, but there is only one Trump.

Biden can just keep crawling out of his basement, take credit for Trump's planning, sign away American jobs with executive orders, sling a few insults at Republicans, then go back to bed. That's way more effort than most of us expected from a guy rapidly declining from dementia. Go Joe!!!! Just go!

    Masks dont help anyone.

    This is a good change.

If you are in a room with someone, and you breath into your mask. Anyone else in the room is going to breathe in whatever you breathed out because it circulates anyways.

At best, you wont air blast someone directly in front of you. If you distance yourself a few feet, thats a non issue anyways.

Good for Texas. If you don't like what Texas is doing then don't go to Texas. If you are worried about infected people from Texas harming "you" in "your" state then appeal to your state government to ban Texans from visiting your state until it is "safe".

:blushes: ~ The last two people I met from Texas were my neighbor - who moved back to Texas - and a visitor who told me " Your prices for everything here are crazy ! "

The Texas Medical Association, just like the American Medical Association, strongly recommends the wearing of masks to reduce infection.

If your medical opinion varies from the expert consensus, and you have no medical training, chances are that it is you who has made a mistake.

Thanks Nonny Mouse. The expert consensus used to be to drain sick peoples' blood by placing leeches on their bodies. :)

That was also the common consensus. But scientists have taught us better since then.

The fact that everyone is fallible doesn't make a non-expert's opinions worth the same as an expert's opinion. We can all be wrong, but some of us have a much better shot at being right than others. That's why we have doctors in the first place.

Well if the of the citizens in Texas disagree with the Governors decision then they are free to voice their concerns and pressure the Texas State Legislature to impeach him. Thats the job of their Representatives to represent the will of the People. Or they can just vote someone else into office in 2022 if they want to wait that long. If we don't see him getting impeached in the Texas House in the coming weeks then the majority of the citizens in Texas must be ok with this decision which would mean he is doing his job by fulfilling the will of the people of his state.

That's the double edged sword of a Democratic Republic or a Democracy in general. As elected officials you don't necessary get to say "we know what's best for you" to the people, you do the will of the people because if you don't then they have the ability to fire you.

I expect that back in the "leech bleeding" days, there were some doctors who went against consensus and try to tell the medical community that they were killing people by bleeding them out.

Today, their are a "minority" of medical doctors with MD's which are just as real as the MD's of the "consensus" of doctors. You know, the only doctors "allowed" to speak publicly without fear of censorship.

Before and during Covid, there are people who believe in terrain theory of medicine over germ theory of medicine. Why have doctors in the first place if they aren't allowed to have different medical opinions as the "practice" medicine?

So, a mistake that will likely cost thousands of lives and put unimaginable strain in our medical system. Cool. Cool cool cool.

Those are probably the same idiots preaching that the earth is flat and that Trump won the election. Some lunatics are incapable of considering evidence.

I think most people believe in a "mix" of theories. Only the MD's seem to be at extremes, and even then most of the terrain theory docs are willing to move to germ theory treatments in many cases.
