What do you make as a hobby? Do you restore old cars? Quilt? Build ARs? Let's see what you do in your spare time when you aren't trolling the other side.

I started making lamps about a month ago. I've made 5 so far. If I don't find a way to sell them, I'll give them to friends and family. All lamps have electrical outlets and 2 USB outlets for phone and tablet charging. The water valves act as light switches.

I just made some masks on my grandmother's sewing machine. She'd be proud of me. Here are a couple almost finished on the sewing cabinet.

I make beer. I have a few recipes that I have developed over the years and I enjoy doing it. I have built a couple of AR-15’s but there isn’t a whole lot to building those. I’ve been reloading ammo for 20 years now and that has really taken on a life of its own. I’ve done some wood working over the years, nothing too serious but I expect that to change here pretty soon as my portable sawmill was just delivered two days ago. I jump around from one hobby to another so something like horses will never be one of my hobbies.

I'd like to see some wood work. I need a shop to do what I want, but I'd like to do wood/epoxy art, including Lichtenburg art with epoxy backfill. I could combine the wood/epoxy with my lamp making to make custom light fixtures.

I have a stripped AR lower, but I haven't decided what to build. A rifle in 556 or maybe a pistol. I'm torn. Either way, it's a new caliber for me and I won't be able to get ammo for a while. I wouldn't mind getting into reloading. My 9mm stockpile won't last forever.

Let's see some tiny house pics. There's a million ways to do tiny houses. I've even thought of converting a school bus. I've even seen a school bus with the engine bay removed and converted into a goose neck trailer.

I would, but I don't put pics of anything remotely personal on line. Not even a drone shot of the next town!

Having said that, we've done about eight over the years. Both stationary and on wheels. We use old garages, old travel trailers, garden sheds, etc. We only use structures which already exist and are sound and watertight, and fitout using salvaged materials. No new builds, and as much avoidance of new materials as possible. We collect timber windows and doors from refuse centres/roadsides. We use salvaged vintage kitchen cabinets and old enamel pedestal sinks (bathroom). We use old slab doors to build bed platforms, shelves, dividing walls, etc etc etc. A 1970's/80's trailer shedded all it's life is the gold standard as that goes. Never go later than about 1985 though, since makers started reducing window area significantly. The absolute KEY to living in any kind of tiny house without losing your mind, is vast amounts of glass. It needs to be at least a third of all wall area. Also, windows need to be low enough to have really good field of view from a seated position. The bottom sill should be no higher than about 60cm. If you can't sit on the sofa and have a full view of the outside via a wall of glass, you will lose your mind to claustrophobia. Kitchen area also needs as big a window as possible. Ditto sleeping area.
[IMG] [IMG]These are examples of how NOT to do a tiny house. You'd be a nutcase in a week! Look at those ridiculously high and ridiculously small those windows are in the second one. And no window at all in the kitchen .. Jesus. It's like the thing was designed by someone who hates people and wants them to be miserable. How can anyone think that's okay?

On the other hand, the one below works:

I could easily get into a tiny house, but Mrs Texan likes her things a little too much. I want a big shop though, so it would make the house look really tiny. I like that corner door opening on the bottom pic.

I want to do a barndominium with a glass garage door that opens up between the living room and the back covered patio. Kind of like this, but onto a covered patio.[IMG]

That's the idea! Though that example is massive .. not quite a tiny house :D

As for having a big shop and small house .. sounds like heaven :p

After a couple decades since owning my first home for a very few months, I finally was able to get my first forever home at age 50. My project now is creating a paradise for my husband and I. It's a lifetime dream come true. This is my second home, and I've lived here four times as long as my first. I hope to die here.

Everything you see has been completely redone, created or built since we purchased. The man who painted our fence, sadly, passed away last month. It still stings. Here's both the day and evening version of his work. Pictures are two different sides of the fence.

The garden is showing from July. Since it is fall now, it is completely finished and planted with tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli and more herbs. There is some lettuce seeding right now, and I've tons of seeds to get us a bountiful garden throughout winter.

I like the fence. It's artistic and bright without being too chaotic. Is the night version in ultraviolet paint? I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I need to repaint my chicken coop. I'm thinking about painting a Texas flag on the back and maybe some chicken art on the front.

Yes. He happened to do that at the same time Amazon was doing it's Cyber Monday, so we were able to pick up four 60-watt outdoor black lights for super cheap. Between them, they cover the entire fence. It's an amazing space to be; especially in the winter, when the temps actually get below 70 sometimes.

Consider Etsy. I wander through there, often, when looking for something that I hadn't seen before, that now I need. Your stuff is amazing. The specifics aren't my thing, but there's talent. I imagine at some point, something would appeal. Seriously good stuff.

So much creativity at Etsy. I can't go often, 'cause, budget.

    :)

I paint on weird surfaces like driftwood, walls, doors, bottles. Sorry..no pics. Moved and lost them all in transition.

    My hobby is LOSING elections!

With merely forty one votes total for all four of my previous campaigns combined.....
I can argue that I am certainly one of "Canada's Worst Politicians!"

My 2006, 2008, 2016 and 2004 campaign writings as ART.
