The last bill the Republicans passed for this was added to the spending bill, nearly 7000 pages. That'd take the better part of two weeks to read out loud and not a single member will be there listening. It was also put up by the Republicans 6 hours before it's scheduled vote in the Senate, i.e. they expected others to read the bill 2 pages per minute and then vote.
These happen all the time now and it is bull hockey. Need a new system without the built in pork.

I think forcing them to read the bills in session would be a great way to cut the pork. These lazy worthless elitist parasites will cut the bills down to barebones necessity if it means they get back to their mistresses and toga parties quicker.

That would only work if they had to be present during the reading.

And how do I find out if I approve of my representative or not if I do not know what he's voting for?

By how your life has changed. An honest answer is most people don't have a clue what their representatives voted for.

Life is full of inertia; by following your own logic, climate change is bullshit for it does not really affect my life. Or yours! :couple_inlove:

What a typical response by you. You highlight my answer "By how your life has changed" which refers to how your representative votes in Congress and then you think you can make it apply to something not related at all. That's not how debate works. But just to play along with your ridiculous attempt, climate change does affect my life. I live in an agricultural state. The impact of climate change affects everyone here......almost every day either on the farm or ranch and how they affect the communities here.
    Total fail on your part.

The Saturday news just continues to get better...

    SNIP
The day after he single-handedly delayed the U.S. Senate's debate on President Joe Biden's $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill for 11 hours, Republican Senator Ron Johnson said on Friday that he could retire from office when his term expires.

The two-term Republican told Wisconsin media outlets that he has not decided whether to run for reelection in 2022 but added that not seeking another term is "probably my preference now."

That's EVERYBODY'S preference.... Wisconsin looks good for a D seat pickup in 2022 even if this dipstick runs again, but even if they fumble the ball and elect another member of the Insurrection Party, he (or she.... Ha Ha Ha) has to be better than Ron Johnson... It's a metaphysical certainty, unless the ghost of Joe McCarthy runs and wins...
