According to the movie passion of the Christ, the state made him against his will.

This is further evidence of why communism is bad.

It is biblical and ruined the Jewish man's day.

They ruled by tyranny for sure. Killing those against Caesar was a continuous thing. Although, when you look at the taxation aspect, the Romans were taxing like 10%. In the U.S. we tax a lot more, don't we? And, around the world today as well. But, taxation on its own is not socialism. Many countries are capitalists with a welfare blanket for the poor and the needy through taxation. But, the people do get to own their own businesses and property. Why did the Jew help the Jew? To get to the other side of the street? I dunno?

As the movie suggests, Simon of Cyrene may have been sympathetic towards Jesus (though we're not certain):

As for the coercive power of the State, the Romans wrote the book. By the time Alaric and his army strolled through the gates of the Eternal City the power and control the Roman government exercised over its citizens and subjects was similar to that of the Soviet government.

The story is probably polemic, not historical. We know some early Christian sects, like the Marcionites, rejected the OT and believed that YHWH was evil. The story of Simon the Libyan Jew bearing the cross while Jesus was still alive - half a century before Marcion was born - was probably an attempt to prove the primacy of the Libyan Church over all other sects.

We should keep in mind that "bearing the cross" doesn't necessarily mean carrying the physical cross. Later copyists - unaware of the earlier polemics - may have misunderstood the message, changing it slightly to a evil-pagans-good-Christian-martyrs dichotomy.

This is the only interpretation that makes sense in the historical context.

Simon of Cyrene is usually depicted as a Black man in religious paintings.

Remember the Ethiopian eunuch from Acts 8:27-40 who was baptized by Philip?

And the second convert to Islam was a Black man.

Black people have been involved in the fairy tales from their inceptions.

It was common at that time for groups of Roman soldiers to pick a random man and force him to help carry something.
Palestine was under Roman occupation at that time, and there had been an earlier series of revolts.

Matthew 5:41 refers to Roman soldiers temporarily conscripting private citizens on demand to help carry things, something that the population resented.

Simon probably was selected due to his large stature and strength, also the fact he was Greek but at least partly of African dissent.

Simon was selected because he was a foreigner and remember what Isaiah 14:1-2 says = https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=isaiah14:1-2&version=CEB;ERV;TLB;NKJV;NLT Simon becomes a slave by carrying the Jesus characters cross and doing his heavy, physical work. That is the Isaiah 14:1-2 part.

The other part is the clause in the 4th Commandment about how none shall appear before God empty-handed. Exodus 34:20 = https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=exodus+34:20&version=CEB;ERV;TLB;NKJV;NLT

The Jesus story begins with the wise men bringing him gifts at his birth to show that they acknowledged him as God in observance of the 4th Commandment. His life ends with a Gentile carrying his burden. So, the Gentile came to Israel to be a slave to the Jew as it said in Isaiah 14:1-2.
