Texas is taking the border crisis into its own hands, issuing a disaster declarationbecause "the Biden administration has abandoned it," according to GOP Gov. Greg Abbott on Newsmax.

"They're completely ignoring the crisis on the border, and because of that, as governor, I am having to step up and do the federal government's job," Abbott told "Greg Kelly Reports" on Wednesday.

"We are going to instill safety. We're going to be doing things in Texas that no state has ever done before when it comes to cracking down on anybody coming across the border. We're going to step up and secure the border even more than we already are."

Abbott told Kelly he has already deployed more than 1,000 Texas Department of Public Safety officers as well as National Guard troops.

"We're going to ratchet up our efforts along the border to make sure we help secure our state and our country,"

I think that this is great news. I wish Governor Abbot and the state of Texas success in their efforts. I’m glad that he’s stepping up to do this. Biden has betrayed our country with his new America last policies.

Too bad that Biden won’t do his own job down there. He seems more interested in assisting the cartels in getting more human sex trafficking, drug smuggling, and bring in gang members to our cities than doing anything for the American people.

Curious, why do you feel the need to be the first person to post in your own threads? Sometimes within 1 minute of your first post? OCD? Upping your post tally? Just curious.

On the topic of this thread though, good for Texas. And Abbot is a **** stain too.

National Guard? Lmfao. What a load of baloney. What's he gonna do? Open fire Ohio State style?

Border encounters are up. Way up. I mean way way up. 178,622 in April. So, tell me, logically, if encounters with Border Patrol have skyrocketed, how does that imply BP is "ignoring" anything?

Yeah, Trump's announcement speech was as repugnant then as it is now.

"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending the best. They're not sending you, they're sending people that have lots of problems and they're bringing those problems. They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime. They're rapists and some, I assume, are good people, but I speak to border guards and they're telling us what we're getting."

    Nothing bigoted there.

I guess Biden replaced all the Border Guards. I mean, they can't be the ones Trump was talking to 5 years ago, right?

I saw the governor interviewed last night by Hannity and his plan will be helpful in dealing with the crisis Biden created.

if people like Trump would stop hiring illegals, they would not come here

it's about the $$$ folks, go after those that knowingly hire illegals

can you imagine the right if it came out Biden was hiring illegal like Trump did?

Any person who crosses the border illegally is by definition a criminal. Whether you like that or not is really of no consequence.

By the way those same border guards will still tell you all types of criminals are coming across the border. Nothing is changed except Biden is letting them go into our country without even having court dates.

Oh and im curious, how many rapists, murderers and pedophiles have gotten in? Oh you don’t know do you? Because your president is letting them come in without checking.

The governor said that due to court preced ents he can’t turn people back at the border but once across there are a number of state laws they will have broken and if the Texas state police or state NG or local LE apprehend them they can count on 6 months to a year in jail before being handed over to federal border people for deportation. If enough have to spend that kind of time locked up it might be a deterrent to others.

Holy **** that is going to get expensive quickly.

And to be honest I am not sure it is a deterrent. 3 meals a day and a safe place to sleep. I doubt any of them coming over had it that good wherever they came from.

As long as one of the 10s of 1000s of gang members, drug dealers and human traffickers passing through don’t hurt anyone you love I guess. All is well.

By the way, regarding that quote, Trump was talking about MS13 right before it. Context friend. Learn it. Nothing he said was untrue. People crossing the border are criminals and murderers and rapists and sending their children unattended or dragged alone by coyotes. You want to call that the best Mexico has to offer? The best are coming in legally. The rest are what you like to call white trash types, but just change the race, since it’s perfectly ok when Leftists use that term all the time. Illegals lack education, vaccinations, skills or culture that’s compatible with us. But glad you want to lower the overall standard of people here. Look at how awesome Mexico has. We need to be more like central and South America. They’re so awesome!!!

That’s true. Hence why I think there’s an easier way to get rid of the illegal immigration problem.

It’s really quite simple. You have to address why they’re coming over here. Fundamentally they’re coming over here as illegals because they have a better opportunity to provide for themselves and their families as illegals in our country than they do as legals in their own. So you have to take that ability away from them.

My suggestion is first you place massive fines on any company found hiring an illegal. Say $100,000 per day that they are found to have employed said illegal. Then you must enforce those laws. Eventually the businesses will stop hiring them because the risk will outweigh the reward.

Once you take away their ability to get jobs you have to take away their ability to mooch off of the government. Number one priority is to legally remove the concept of anchor babies. If one of your parents is not a citizen of this country then you do not receive citizenship just for being born on our soil. That alone would remove most of the social benefits illegals receive because their child wouldn’t be eligible for food stamps, rental assistance, utility assistance etc. Make any government assistance to illegals prohibited. Including no ability to receive drivers licenses, no access to work assistance and no medical care except in emergency cases where they will be stabilized as soon as possible be sent back to their country of origin.

Then you would have to address the final problem. With no job and no government assistance the only method to provide will be through criminal activity. So we say if you’re an illegal and found to do criminal activity you will be imprisoned and sentenced to labor such as digging ditches, building homes, building roads, picking up trash, breaking through rock for construction, etc etc and you will be paid a meager wage until you have paid off your debt to America. And then you will work some more until you have paid for your bus/boat ticket back to your country of origin. At which point you will immediately be shipped back there.

Do that and there will be no more illegal immigration. No wall needed.

Not as expensive, or nearly as attractive as what the Biden admin. is providing illegals with now. The DHS's IG is investigating a $530 million no bid contract to house detainees. Hotels are charging taxpayers $350 per day, per detainee.

Holy crap, it has to be cold as you know what in hell right now. I have basically been saying that same thing for years. It was my 3 part plan that would remove the need for the wall.

My only addition is we need a good guest worker program so those that need the transient/seasonal labor can get it through legal means.

See we can agree!! And I def agree if we are going to do those things a beefed up visa program for seasonal workers would be needed.

They allocated the money to cover it. Most families will not want to be broken up with the parents in jail and the kids in the foster care system for that time. Just like what happens to domestic families when both parents go to jail at the same time.

A link would be nice, but how much does it cost per person in government facilities? $350 sounds a little steep, but it may actually be the cheapest option. Gotta put em somewhere.

That does not change the cost of it. What is the cost to imprison someone for a year?

Most people coming across are not families

Oh, I thought he was going to impose strict and harsh reprecussions on employers of illegals.

Nope, more posturing for the base.

It could be a billion dollars a year and millions of people would still support it.

    Lol.

There's plenty of work to be done in the jails. And forced labor should be unconstitutional.

GOOGLE will provide you endless links on the no bid contract investigation. Trump "put 'em" in Mexico.
