On April 23rd 2021 I slipped and fell in my bathroom. I dropped 305 lbs of bone, fat and gristle straight down on my left leg. My heel just about went up my backside as my left foot turned to the side under me and added torque to the knee joint. I believe I hit my head as I was out for about 2 hours. I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing at 2:30 A.M. My best friend is a Police Officer, working graveyard shift and we talk frequently. He advised me if I didn't want the door breeched to crawl there and unlock it. I woke up and went out again several times in the ambulance. By the time I got to the ER, I wasn't breathing and had no pulse. Due to the diligent hard work of the first responders and the ER Crew, I am typing this today. May God Bless them all. Yes I did have a near death experience and will never talk about it.

Had a couple of strokes earlier this year. My left hand, unfortunately my writing hand is still shaking and I'm uncertain whether I'll ever be able to write again as the truly fine motor control is a bit buggered. This getting older lark is not a lot of fun.

Hang in there we're behind you. It will get better as you get used to it. Do what your doctor says. Try to see yourself from his viewpoint and act accordingly, I understand that is basically the kind of attitude to your own health a proper doctor tries to instill in you

You're typing well and you seem to have normal control of communications and phrasing. That right there is more than some here exhibit:p

    Glad you made it.

Why won’t you talk about the near death experience?

Count yourself lucky. A guy I know from work lost his son in a similar situation except his head hit the tub on his way down and nobody found him for a few days.

Good to hear you are on the upswing. Stands as an example of what can happen when we are least expecting it.

The answer I really want to know is, did he breach the door? Sorry, my mind goes it's own way occasionally.

My Cop friend works in Simi Valley which is quite far from where I live. He called his wife (nurse) to come check on me, they live on our street. I did manage to crawl my way to the front door and unlock it.

Glad to hear you made it Professor! You might want to think about cleaning up your diet and getting some exercise. With that I am sure you could live a much happier and productive life. I am 67 and still can make it over a 6 foot chain link fence in one shot. Our bodies are amazing in their ability to transform if we give them a chance. Welcome back!

Thankfully your friend, his wife, the first responders and medical staff intervened and gave you the gift of more time here.
    How are you feeling now?
