    They want the ECONOMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The infrastructure of the city (which is what I spoke to) supports that.

When the United States' forces fled South Vietnam clinging to their helicopters, it did not look like a victory parade.

I don't think so. I think they just want to unite all the Chinese people together with the lands that they once inhabited. They are very proud people, and there's an embedded resentment towards Western Europe and the way they were looked upon in the past,

This doesn't mean that the Europeans treated them and others so badly relatively speaking, It's just that there's an inherent arrogance in Western Europeans that deeply offends others. I don't think though the arrogance has to do that much with racism, as it has to do with the differences in cultural values.

You do not seem to care that the people of Taiwan do not want to be conquered by a Communist dictatorship.

What a load of BULLshit but coming from someone who wants to ban ALL guns, hardly a surprise. What the hell this has to do with China and Taiwan, I cannot fathom...

No it did not. War is never a pretty thing no matter how it ends. Someone always gets the short end of the stick.

And then we are back to 1941. And this time by stealth, debt traps, fishing boats etc China has
taken Sth China Sea, East China Sea, Taiwan, Philippines, Solomon Islands, PNG and even
'fishing boat' aka 'coastguard' fleets to the Galapagos etc.. And America is living in a Chinese
lake, seeking permission for transit rights.

Which Chinese? The Chinese on Taiwan do not want to be conquered by the Communist Chinese dictatorship. It is easy to understand why. They have a democratic government, and a much higher standard of living than the Chinese on the mainland enjoy. There is much less pollution. Food is safe to eat.

My point was that the United States lost the War in Vietnam big time.

nah thats just the opinion of depute defense sec. there are few right winger in any nation. Japan is mainly self defense, their constitution forbid them going war unless they get attack. also due to its geo location. japan is seriously consider stay out of it, consider china got thousands ballistic missile that can reach japan, not counting their airforce. its no gain situation for them. at most they provide some intel/supplies, but directly involvement is mostly out. especially if china doing after 2035.

who the heck is Hu xijin? a nobody. remember china just like any nation got right wing propaganda. it does not mean they just gonna do it. words is cheap. China is biding its time, if they gonna invade taiwan its likely after 2035 or even later, they already wait 70 years, whats few more decades. right now their priority is their economy. they need sufficient military power to deter US, that means their military need to match US, which wont happen till 2040-50s range. china nuke is always minimum deterrence thats why they keep the number low, nuke cause $$$ and its wasted just sitting there doing nothing.

China isn't in the 'invading' mode... yet. Don't have to.
Remember Battle Philippine Sea and Guadalcanal
(Solomon Islands) It's happening again, but by means
of 'grey warfare.' At some point, if this continues, then
China can one day just say 'Checkmate' to the USA as
it has strategic control over these lands and oceans.
Not only blocking easy US access but bringing formerly
pro-Western nations under its control (Taiwan, Sth Korea,
    Japan etc..)

if u mean influence over its regional neighbor sure, just like we have influence over S.america/mexico etc. as for invasion nah, they build a wall to protect them from mongol, its more of their culture things, mine their own businese attitude etc. during 14/15th century they had like 3000+ ships, world largest navy, they didn't go out and invade. go read zheng he voyage. economy is still their primary concern, consider their gdp/cap is 1/4 of US. also they just prefer "BUY" their way in. both s.korea/japan trade more with china than US, and you can see in their policy, they dont criticize xinjian/HK etc. I doubt china want or has need to invade phillippine/japan/Skorea, they hadn't for the past 5000 years. they can just buy their influence. invade those country doesn't suit china agenda, no gain plenty to lose.

Again, no 'invade' just 'influence' and then 'control'
Philippines can't say much because of China's trade. Makes it hard when their
fishermen are being denied Philippine waters.
Control of Philippines means firstly denial of access to US navy, air force etc..
Little to stop China 'controlling' Indian and Pacific Oceans, really.

With the close way you follow military stories, I am surprised that you, apparently, don't realize that no serious invader "leaks," their plans, through state-run media. This is the equivalent of marking the plan-holding folder, with the word, "Bluff."

well thats due to softpower, if trump didn't stop the TPP, we could insert our own soft power in the region. i mean ppl got to eat, and china is one of the biggest customer in the region. any nation in the region need to consider the tradeoffs. china already use its softpower not just in the region but in the world. the only way to counter that is we have some kind free trade with japan/SK, but that also mean more american job could lost in the process. furthermore, due to china rising military power, its getting harder for US to counter china in the region in term of hard power. ASEAN may well be in the future to choose china over US. as for SK, they probably stay neutral as long as possible, but remember korea always been a tribute state during most of chinese history when china was powerful, so if they see china can provide security/economy, they gonna shift their policies accordingly. Japan is same they rely US for security, but rely china as its largest trading partner. but what happen in 30/40 years. take pakistan for example, they rely china for security to counter india. Now pakistan rely china on its economy.
i dont think china will completely deny US/UK access to ScS, but voyage through the region might be less for military ships, kind like china transit through mexican gulf/alaska sea occasionally.

Hey, you work for Xi ???
You seen the 14 demands China made upon Australia?
You ok with govt shutting down anti-Chinese groups/media?
You fine with seeing America remove bases?
You want to live under America liberal democratic values or Xi Maoist Marxist values?
'Soft power' is where Pakistan and Turkey won't complain how China treats Uighurs.

that is why i'm glad these "conservatives" made me learn "critical race theory." now i know that race is a cultural artifact that america can easily discard as soon as the racists crawl back into their pre fabricated woodwork.
