I don't know about that, but I'll trust you. No president is perfect.

Btw, before Trump's presidency, I thought that the Republicans represent the true American spirit. But DJT totally changed this party into a bunch of madmen who believe in his lies and his conspiracy theories. :(

I never would have thought that something like this could happen in the USA, which is widely known as the leading power of the western world.

Fortunately, the American legal system could slow Trump down, otherwise, a catastrophe would have occurred. Therefore I appeal to you, my western brothers and sisters overseas: Never elect a bloke like DJT as president anymore!

Not all of us feel that way. I have the polar opposite views. If China took Taiwan, I would organize any evacuation assistance I could. We need to have that plan, and it needs to be massive. The men may want to resist, but many women and children would want to flee. I would try not to escalate, but I would initiate a 20 year plan to take the CCP government down. I would recognize the Taiwanese who fled as the legitimate Chinese government immediately, sort of like the Free French style in WWII. Massive escalation and repurposing of cyber to attack the CCP in a long term way that ensures their collapse through their own people. Deals with big tech to do the same, and paying them for their risk or loss they would incur by opposing the CCP. Also in the event of a Taiwanese invasion, we need to fulfil our duty to Japan. We had a deal after WWII, and if not for it, Japan would have one of the most formidable militaries on the planet. We would have to tell them our word still means something by sending Iron Dome, troops (if they want), ships, etc..

what are you talking about? what demand on aussies?
as for bases, whoever got the $$/power in the region will get the most influence. so if we want to keep the influence we have to spend $$$/effort to the region, empty word dont do crap.
lol of course i want to live under america liberal democratic value? but what is that had to do with china? is china gonna invade US lol.
i mean your question just bizarre.
"soft power" is where they get influence/$$ in the region. if auss want to do business with china, know what they get into. so either hold up their value and dont do business with china or act like japan/SK/new zealand/german/french does, basically ignore HK or xinjian, because they dont want to lose the business in china. did we bashing Saudi human right or sanction saudi on their treatment of women or yemen war? no, cause we have vast interest there + oil, and its our ally against iran. so if we want erode china influence, its simple, invest in the region, free trade, make the effort. you can bashing china however you like, but at the end of the day, those countries near china are pragmatic. it take effort/$$$/ etc to keep our influence in the region, and its not FREE. thats why biden announce $200B for tech R&D, and other series of funding. Been #1 is not cheap.

Such a true statement about so many who discuss the issue.

It's a country of millions; they clearly don't want to be governed by another country which is threatening it. Alarm bells should be going off in any security conscious person.

I had at my firm a female appraiser who was born and raised in Taiwan. She explained things to me. She told me her family had been in Taiwan for more than 200 years when she came to America with her Engineer husband.
She explained first there were islanders, native for a super long time to that island. She told me that China wants to take it over. She believes it will not help Taiwan but will be a slave to China.
America under Democrats keep drifting away from Taiwan, though they are good friends to America.
I suggest we make Taiwan protected as we do our own states for good.

That is an interesting but untrue idea. We changed laws on the books promoted by Democrats to fix those problems. Democrats keep this crap up all the time. I am sick of their war on America.

    Now the reality

    TOKYO:

"If China invades Taiwan, Tokyo can interpret the move as a "threat to Japan's survival" and deploy self-defense forces (as they are called) to exercise collective self-defense," Japan's deputy prime minister and finance minister, Taro Aso, said.

    BEIJING:

"Japan has come a long way and has stretched its arms a lot. Japan has no right to dictate matters related to China's internal affairs.

By making such comments on the Taiwan issue, Japan shows that it is following US policy. They want to use the island as an important "bridge" to contain China.

Such comments were made by a Japanese politician just before the July 7, 1937 Remembrance Day, when Japan invaded China, proving that Japan's colonial ideology, especially towards the island of Taiwan, did not disappear for a day.

However, Japan must remember that its survival depends on whether it understands its situation properly – not on how China prepares to solve the Taiwan issue.
