You refer to the $300 from the fed... this has long been debunked.

It would benefit you to turn off Fox and turn on MSM news. You won't make these silly misstatements that make you look uneducated.

The only way to truly prevent the system from being abused is to make it un-abusable. Some people will take unfair/unintended advantage of literally anything they are able to (to its complete ruin if we allow it). One method (not necessarily the best method, but the best I can think of right now) would be to make the time and energy necessary to receive benefits similar to the time and energy necessary in working a job, thus eliminating any incentive for abuse. This could be accomplished with a sort of govt-run temp agency that places people into temporary jobs that match their abilities while they are seeking one more befitting of their skills. Given that UI currently pays about 75% of the income you were making before you lost employment, it seems reasonable that this program would require one to work 50% of your pre-unemployment hours at the designated temp job to recieve that 75% of pre-unemployment income (because people should still have plenty of time to be seeking a more permanant/suitable job). Though, it seems there may be some conflict of interest here regarding the govt supplying a work force to the private sector that could be problematic. I'll have to consider further.

The stupidity and ignorance of this list is amazing. People are so dumb they would fall for this?

Clean Air & Water - We have that and hardcore right even support it. What you want is Energy Industry control. We see how that works in California with our growing Black Outs and Pollution.
A Living Wage - We have some of the best wages and opportunities on the planet thanks to Capitalism which these "Radical Left" would love to tear down. They have no business listing this one.
Medicare for All - Go to Cuba, Canada, or other places that have their citizens come here when they really need treatment.
Affordable Daycare & College - College has been made expensive by the same "Radical Left" that are pushing this crap. Colleges didn't get expensive until Leftists took over our education
Equal Pay for Equal Work - Well this has been debunked forever and then some. How any still says it or writes it is a testament to the effectiveness of propaganda
Make Voting Easier - The Texas Bill does that... and look at the "Radical Left" stopping it from even having a vote. What they really want is the ability to steal elections.
Sensible Gun Laws - Go ahead... tell us what Gun Laws you "Radical Left" want that we don't already have. What you really want is gun seizures and people like Diane Feinstein and Eric Swallwell have said that out loud.
Invest in Infrastructure - You mean Marxist programs that have nothing to do with Infrastructure.

We know the "Radical Left" are just a bunch of Marxists pushing false platitudes and telling any lie about those they oppose if it forwards their cause for more Power and Control over others' lives.

My assumptions are based on heart disease being the leading cause of death in the US, and not taking care of ones health (exercise, nutrition) being the leading cause of heart disease. IOW, the leading cause of death in the US is people not taking care of themselves. Unless you're prepared to suggest that people don't already know that being inactive, overweight and eating junkfood will make them unhealthy and die faster, then throwing more money at healthcare is not going to make them more responsible for their health. It will just give them more of other peoples money to spend on more advanced ways of keeping their unhealthy lifestyle going a bit longer, and vastly increasing how much of all of our wealth is consolidated into the pharmaceutical industry.

FTR I do realize there are people who try to be healthy but get sick anyway and don't have the money to become healthy again, and we do have a social obligation to figure out how to improve the system to help them. But the unhealthy irresponsible masses ruin the possibility of UHC being a viable option. They will abuse it to the total ruin of the system.

I refer to any/all programs that distribute public money to people who could work, but don't.

And what is 'MSM news'? 'Mainstream Media'? FOX is Mainstream Media... Its the same corporate propaganda you get from MSNBCNN, just with a rightwing candy coating instead of a leftwing candy coating. Hard pass on both.

I don't know that at all. I think it is cynical to believe that and I am not a cynic. Of course, a cynic's retort would be 'you're naive'. My reply would be "well, show me evidence'.

So, add more bureaucracy just to prevent the abuse.

I don't know if it still exists, but I lived in L.A. during the 70s, and there was a government employment agency, which worked like a regular employment agency, though getting unemployment wasn't tied to going to the agency, it could have been. The problem would be, that the size of the agency, to be able to handle the increased traffic as you are suggesting, would have to quadruple the size of the agency. But, it's a doable. However, if you are going to require women on welfare (and it is mostly women with children that are on welfare, if I understand it correctly), and that's not going to work because the vast majority of women on welfare have it because of children, and their inability to work and take care of the children, so if you get them jobs, you'll have to provide for the nannies to care for the children, which means even more bureaucracy. And, I don't even like the term' bureaucracy' because even that term presumes a mindset against a government job, and I'm not against a government job, per se. What I am against are government jobs whose work product is not necessary. Whether or not such a job would be necessary, would depend on whether or not, there is, indeed, the problem of assistance abuse, and that would have to be studied. Then, secondly, whether your solution is the best one, given the added cost it would create.

Thing is, what is the scope of the problem? What percentage of the recipients of government assistance are abusers?

In my view, if that percentage is small then the solution doesn't seem to be necessary. In order to think 'solution', we need to identify the problem, because there is no point in solving a non existent problem. We need facts on this issue. We can't come up with your recommended solution just because you, personally, don't like the idea of government assistance.

See, now we're getting down to the nitty gritty here, you just don't like the idea of government assistance, and evidence of that fact is how you characterize it, your word choice 'gov handouts' betrays your mindset, and there it is.

Unless we know, with certainty, the scope of the problem, I'm inclined to believe it is people with your mindset, that is the actual problem.

But, if you have evidence, then I will defer to the facts, whatever they may be, in this regard.

We still have to have UHC, it's humanitarian and required of a civilized society.

What can be done is make doctors more aware and make them push their patients to live healthily, rather than just throw meds at the problem.
