When do you plant your seeds for a spring show of flowers? I live in the southern part of zone 8 do you have any suggestions on when to plant?

 

Has anyone priced lumber? It is outrageous. I am using reclaimed wood for everything. Been spraying the old wood with diesel and old gasoline. I am putting a roof over my deck and I can't afford lumber. I have 3 big joist... 2x8 and 2x6. It is rough cut. They are hanging. Dang things are heavy when you are by yourself.

You'll have to narrow it down a bit more than that.

 

Rule of thumb is after the last expected frost date, if direct sowing. I usually start my flower seeds end of February/mid March inside.

I also try to adhere to the moon cycle, I have better luck that way. Wax of the moon for above ground, wane of the moon for below ground. No planting in the dark of the moon.

 

It's still outrageous, but slowly nudging down. Definitely not coming down as fast as it went up, lol. There's a surprise.

 

And what a great time to do a remodel, huh? My 'new' bathroom cost me double what it would have been last yr. Timing has never been my friend.

I guess it will depend on trial and error with a lot of luck and moon signs also the astrological signs mixed in. Will be interesting for sure. The coreopsis, primrose, henbit, and October daisy seeds lay dormant till they know when to come out. The coreopsis gave me the idea of planting a whole field of nothing but wildflowers. Got the fingers crossed.

That old saying "A day late and dollar short." is really the way things are going lately. I want to shop where the predictors of the current inflation shop..2.4%? really? I want to shop where they shop.

 

There is an over supply now and it is increasing.

 

The cost of remodeling should drop like a rock soon.

 

Not at the cash register. And when the current gas price gets added in..

I Broke every rule of driving on the river road... didn't tell anyone where I was going , did not carry water, (had two bourbons and coke) drove after dark.. and subsequently hit a sharp rock just perfectly! Ripped hole in both driver side tires.. I was a hell of a shot to get them both.. but I did it, then I slept (not well) on th eside of the road.. AFTER hiking back and throwing th erockslide that killed my tires off the road and then taking both of the wheels off the car to haul them back into town. The wheels and I got a ride (some 50 miles) back into town, the car is still on the side of the road.

And tho' it was a major inconvenience this trip.. I still really love being completely out of cell phone range
