Blaming or exonerating one President or another out of the last four (or even longer ago) is a farce of the most absurd kind. The two parties that have absconded with our government are equally complicit in the war crimes and destruction we face today. Biden is firmly entrenched in the avaricious duopoly dictating to Americans. Clowns like Trump only make the scene more hallucinatory.

So what? Are you in denial? Obviously Americans weren't pleased with the messy Afghanistan withdrawal and it affected Biden's approval ratings. I voted for Biden, so bringing up Trump in response to me is hitting the wrong target.

    You are right.

And the drop in the approval rate was also caused by the upsurge of the delta variant in the country.

But even with a 40% approval rating, the question everyone must ask is whether an exodus of the Democratic (or moderate independent) vote is possible.

For now, the answer is no.

Since on the other side, there is only Trump.

Well, on the other side, there are lots of congressional candidates. Remember, the next election is the 2022 one, not 2024, and the Democrats have the tiniest of majorities in both chambers. Traditionally the party that holds the White House loses seats in mid-terms, and the electorate has a way of showing displeasure by voting for the other party in midterms. So this situation is very dangerous to the Democratic agenda because if the displeasure continues (although the electorate is fickle and memory is short) it is very likely that both chambers will turn Republican in 2022.

The Presidency remains the most important element.

It was the same for Trump, but with a 10% lower approval rating than Biden.

And he governed without worrying for a second about the opposition, without making any compromises.

My guess is that Trump has left a lot of damage behind and that it will take much more than a crisis in Afghanistan for the GOP to regain the momentum needed to become a political threat again in the medium term.

I thank you for these figures.

However, I have a good memory.

And I distinctly remember putting a ton of unfavorable polls for Trump on this forum for years in addition to his 38% approval rating.

And do you know what the MAGA's were responding to me?

    That they couldn't care less.

And? This changes the incorrectness of your statement how? Biden is tanking with those important independent voters.

As I have said many times before, the strength of a candidate also comes from the weakness of his opponent.

And right now, there is no one ahead of Biden.... except Trump.

And he has already been defeated.

Do you think Trump could make a big comeback? Good luck.

Meanwhile, the election is 3.5 years away, and while the crisis in Afghanistan has lowered Biden's approval rating, elections are never, ever decided on international policy issues.

It's the economy.... or a pandemic that kills 600,000 Americans.

    Will you remember that?

Just keep telling yourself that. Biden is a bad joke and the Nation is the butt of it.

Thats why politicians attack each other. They don't have a quality product to sell, so they bash the competition. They do it to take the focus off of results.

Yes YOU brought up the competency issue (with some assorted invective), so let's discuss it.

If the premise of you argument is that Biden just inherited this mess so don't blame him I would remind you that the prior VP who was in charge of the Iraq/Afghanistan policy because he was so experienced in these matters is the current President

I'll skip the baseless invective and get to the heart of the matter. Incompetence. Would you please explain how Biden's handling of this, his total disaster he created, his lies and deceit about it shows he is more competent than Trump and his handling of it?

What has he succeeded at exactly? He even totally screwed up his retreat here. And don't just toss a number which is simply all persons who managed by all who were desperately evacuating them, other countries and NGO's the NGO's who were actually rescuing people. Biden failed by his own declared measure.

So Biden and Obama can buy you off no matter all their failures even ones as serious as this. Biden gets you more money to heck with our national security and his total incompetence.

OK, sure, but what do you do of independents like me? I did vote for Biden, and I did lose faith in Biden, and I'm no longer likely to vote for him if he runs or Harris if she runs. If it's against Trump I won't vote for Trump either, but I'll likely go third party or abstain.

So, the issue is, sure, rally your partisan brothers and sisters around you, but do remember that without the independents like me you can't win.

What can you do to win us back? At this point I remain utterly unconvinced that any member of the Biden/Harris administration will earn my vote in 2024.

In this case I am sorry for my ranting about about 2022 elections. I misunderstood yours:
"What, and vote for Trump? Wonderful."

the point is ratings fluctuate. Let's see what they will be towards the end of his term, or at least the second term. one term, in my view, is not enough to gage a presidency. Biden got a lot of bad press, right or wrong, which affects ratings, temporarily.

What has MAGA's response have to do with anything?

20% of Biden voters regret their vote.

And, of course, you're the go to guy for behind the scenes info. You know it all. No bother thinking about it, researching it for facts,
just post your rant, and we're done.

    Right?

Huh! You are not replying to what I said. I was talking about results. One does not need to have knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes to know that the product, in this case, a crap sandwich, tastes bad. I would love to see a law requiring all behind the scenes meetings between politicians and lobbyists live streamed!

It's not at all guaranteed that on the other side there is only Trump. We don't know yet who will win the Republican nomination for 2024. We don't even know if Trump will run.

Except the part where you admitted that you're all about the government handouts and freebies.

That, I have no doubt, was genuine.
