I'm actually fine with this. Society doesn't need to be dominated by intellectuals to function. That said, the lazy, dumb, or indifferent should understand that they do not have the knowledge to argue a position one way or the other. The best they can do is appeal to authority.

I think intellectuals have a responsibility to educate and inform society. The intellectuals today seem to be just elitist authoritarians who want to control others, not edify others. These authoritarian aren’t all to blame though. As they say nature abhors a vacuum and they are just filling the vacuum created by the demographics you mentioned above.

Very few want to to make their own decisions. Too much trouble and responsibility. :)

We recommend that public officials and governments strongly encourage the use of widespread face masks in public, including the use of appropriate regulation.”

after all the studies, the institute like all others has this recondition, with no recommendations for n95 masks.
    None, nada, nix.

None of the studies looked at n95 masks.

    According to JHU

No, you do not need to wear double masks or an N95 respirator in public settings to protect yourself against the new coronavirus variants. The infection prevention measures are the same for all variants of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.”

. Why cloth masks are recommended for covid.
“Cloth masks can be made in large quantities in a short time. They can be reused after being decontaminated by various techniques, ideally washing in hot water with soap. Other methods or products include using bleach, isopropyl alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide; autoclaving or microwaving; and application of ultraviolet radiation or dry heat (16). Unlike disposable medical masks and respirators, the material of cloth masks is unlikely to degrade from standard decontamination procedures. However, hospitals will have the extra burden of cleaning and decontaminating used masks. If healthcare workers perform decontamination themselves, they may fail to wash masks frequently enough and may risk self-contamination (31).

    And:

Please quote the parts stating cloth masks are recommended because they are better suited to stop a pandemic.

Or a peer reviewed study like I’ve presented. Go ahead.[/QUOTE]
Cloth masks are recommended. Please state where they are NOT. YOU CANT CAN YOU. Show where the n95 recommended for general public use. Do you know what “ recommended “ means ?

The article still recommends masking and does not recommend n95 masks for public use. THE EVIDENCE SUPPORTS MASKING. MAYBE YOU DIDNT READ THAT

I don’t care what is recommended if the recommendation is not based on empirical evidence. No empirical evidence exists to support recommending cloth masks. None. If there was you could post some instead of just opinions.

You have provided NO evidence. The opinion of someone at JHU is NOT EVIDENCE.

Of course it is. They did studies like all research facilities do and they referred to them. Name another major medical research facility. Name one.

Of course there is evidence. I referenced 141 studies and refences. You can’t read ?

Oh, back to your influenza studies. Nowhere in your link is there any evidence cloth masks are superior to N95s. If it was in there you could quote it. LOL

It doesn’t test for coved virus
You’re confusing effectiveness with filtering capacity.
No where do any of the test specifically test for Covid infections. The virus for Covid is not the same as that for influenza.
A helmet and scuba breather would filter better. It’s useless unless you include infection rates along with people who have and have not been vaccinated for flu

Flu vaccination? WUT? Flu vaccination has nothing to do with efficacy of different mask materials. LOL

    Superior in what way ?

    They cost much more.

We know n95 need to be discarded when any body fluid gets on them while a cloth mask can just be washed.

We know cloth mask don’t require special fitting to be effective.

So far, the n95 are inferior.

Of course it does. The effects of masking is much greater around people who are vaccinated. Maybe you didn’t know that.
With out knowing that, you have no idea. Vaccinated people have a much lower viral load requiring less masking filtration.

You’r till confusing efficacy with filtration. N95 masks with vents aren’t even allowed in many areas they are so potentially poor.

I’ve reserved no studies from you. I rely on the studies that JHU refers to.
