FBI says Taliban takeover in Afghanistan inspiring Americans virtually

The FBI believes the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan is pushing Americans toward acts of violence.

Charles Spencer, the FBI’s assistant director of the International Operations Division, said his officers witnessed an increased amount of chatter on social media and online from people who haven’t traveled to the Middle East but have been influenced by the Taliban.

“There’s a lot of talk about it, and I think that’s the first thing you see. Where there’s talk, there’s more interest,” Spencer said at the Soufan Center’s Global Security Forum in Doha, according to Defense One.

“That’s where people who are people on the fringes, [who are] potentially not mentally stable, [and] not even affiliated with them — I think that’s where they see this rallying cry and their opportunity,” he continued. “Now, it’s 'time to buy a gun, run people over with a car,’ do whatever they’re going to do.”

I'm reminded of Mike Flynn and his "it should happen here" response to one such kook at a trumper cult event who had brought up the Myanmar coup. Will trumpist extremists continue to be inspired by Myanmar and the Taliban? I feel it is only a matter of time before more of them act out in some way, especially with Trump still egging them on.

Well, if that's your concern, your fellow leftists labeling people on the right "American Taliban" seems a bit foolish in hindsight, doesn't it?

The FBI is not a credible intelligence or investigative agency. That was proven in Florida when they failed to prevent the school shootings there, or when they failed the Pulse shootings, or when they flopped over noose gate or when they failed to arrest the Milwaukee hoaxster among other things.

    The FBI is FOS.

We're talking about corrupt leftist ideologues. Remember the Russia Russia Russia dossier? One of the main story lines was that Trump was getting info from the Russian Consulate in Miami.

There is no Russian Consulate in Miami. And those Sherlocks couldn't figure that out? No, they knew. They knew the whole ****ing time.

Ah, so a blanket label for a bunch of other labels. You might as well be talking about Martians.

Not a Russian, I speak English. I'm also in favor of making English the National Language of the US. I am what the left bitterly calls a nativist, and proud of it. I was born here, so I love my country. That aside, here's another infamous failure: The Boston Marathon.

Shall i go on? The FBI is a joke.

But I'm not. I'm talking about leftists. It's become quite trendy among them to label their political opponents "American Taliban". For you to now be fretting about this seems rich in irony. Very rich.

I don't fret it, but I got moderated the last time I posted about the American Taliban, so I'm not going to expound on that.

I know you're not Russian, but your view of the FBI sounds like it came straight from Olgino.

Sorry to hear that you favor a xenophobic language policy. The US hasn't needed an official language so far and it doesn't need one now.

Ahhh, so it wasn't just your fellow leftists, it includes you yourself. And now you're worried someone actually listened to you and is getting inspired by the Taliban? Maybe you should have kept your mouth shut.

Heh. So you want to claim that being called "American Taliban" is inspiring domestic terrorists now? It doesn't work that way.

No one has been inspired to commit acts of terrorism yet. Let’s hope this is just excitement over free speech. The action is scary the talk should be heard as well. I’m not saying to ignore it, but as of now it’s just talk

When I hear people talk about a civil war I cringe. It sounds so manly yet will destroy every economical aspect of society. It will kill people and financially destroy others.

I’ve said for years that I think gorilla type factions is much more probable than a civil war because states have to pick sides for that. If it goes to gorilla war fare be ready for an economic shakeup that will take more jobs than COVID. This should never (let me emphasize NEVER) happen and I will never endorse it.

If it goes to Civil war it will be even worse. States will stop trade, people will go hungry because farming states will not supply to big city states (that’s the divide right now anyway). Foreign nations will get involved. Who knows who will be in control of our Nuclear Warheads so can you blame them?

    both scenarios are horrible

Pretty sure the concept of a left-right political spectrum is still taught in high school. So we all have a pretty good idea what a leftist is. If not, an educational link is provided below. On the other hand I never learned about Martians in high school or college.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left–right_political_spectrum

And BTW, we do need an official language, i.e., English. Having to fund school systems that support multiple languages, court interpreters in multiple languages, etc. places a burden on the American tax payer and leads to the Balkanization of the United States.

Let's face it. The FBI is not your dad's FBI. A collection of politically activated politicians posing as law enforcement...

It most certainly does not lead to Balkanization of the US to have court interpreters. What a silly suggestion.

Fact is, multilingualism is not only beneficial to the brain, but it promotes unity through mutual understanding and communication, and it creates a hell of a lot of jobs. Besides, declaring an official language would not suddenly make millions of Americans better English speakers who don't need interpreters. Even countries with official languages need translators and interpreters, and need to support non-native-speaking students in schools.

Have you studied a foreign language? Can you appreciate the challenge of becoming fluent in another language, especially when studied only in adulthood or without the benefit if immersion? I heard a bank customer just today speaking his native language with a teller. I'm sure he's doing his best to learn English, but he's older than I am and is probably getting a late start at it as an immigrant, and that can be especially problematic and frustrating when dealing with something as esoteric and stressful as banking and finance.

There's nothing xenophobic about it, and we didn't need it because we overwhelmingly speak the language but now there's foreign languages on our documents sometimes even in our stores, etc. You don't see other nations overwhelmingly adopting English while not being a majorly English speaking country.

2008 would be more correct. That’s when presidents started targeting factions of their adversaries or making excuses on others heads. Remember the youtube guy who made a video that Hillary blamed Benghazi for? Remember how he wound up in jail shortly after that?
