who do you call and expect to punish the perpetrator?

compare the number of students having sex with trans sexuals in the girl's room with those raped by teachers, priests, and athletes. where do our actual problems exist?

[I think trial by Twitter is in Vogue at the moment? ]

I'm old fashioned but I recommend law enforcement...

Obviously you would call the police.

Is this even a serious question?

I know, I hear it all the time, people reporting these things to the schools or churches and nothing happens to the perps.... they need to call the police

I am glad you asked the question, seems most of us here agree, call the police.... but seems not everyone knows that

maybe we need to do a better job at getting this message out, and asking the question is a good place to start

Anyone can see where you’re going with this and the fact you are trying to defend this school board is insulting to say the least. If someone tried to shrug off the rape of a 14 year old in my presence I would not be happy.

That said, one of the school board members told this man to his face at the meeting that she did not believe his daughters claims (Even though another girl had the same thing happen after). That’s when he got irate and had to be pulled out of the meeting and I support him 100%. He should have been irate. He should have blamed them for the inaction. As a father it’s your job to be a voice for your kid and support for them. He was 100% in the right.

if you are even suggesting he was in the wrong I’m completely ashamed I have ever even given a single comment of yours a shred of thought.

He didn’t link the story. This happened at school and the school is required to call the police. They don’t call the parents and ask them if it’s okay if they call the police. There was inaction in the scenario he is describing and should be ashamed of himself for defending this board who would insult a girl who was raped and her father.

I agree, the schools, churches, parents, anyone that finds a child is raped should call 911, it should be mandatory

There is only one option, it's both the law enforcement who should send the rapist to prison, and the school should expulse the rapist too.

i am suggesting that as a father my job is to protect my daughter by keeping her off the front page of the daily mail and to operate within the system to help the actual officials responsible to bring the perp (if there is one) to justice.

women, and girls, do occasionally lie about these things, or do you believe anita hill, the doctor raped by kavenaugh, and e jeanne caroll?

i have at least some doubt that this case is anything other than an elaborate publicity stunt, timed to influence the local and state virginia elections

Sounds right to me. The school or facility certainly needs to be contacted- but the police will do that.

i raped no one and am ashamed of nothing. the school was (or should have been) required to call the police. the ball is then in their court.

if the school did not call the cops, the father should have dialed the police, not the daily mail..

First, the two paragraphs seem rather non sequitur to each other.

That said, none of the above. The court system is the one that is supposed to punish the perpetrator. Law enforcement is who arrests them and makes sure they go to trial. They are not the same thing. Who actually ends up doing so is another matter. Were it my kid....

I think we would all think about it, but the truth is, are children would need us, so we could not, we would have to let the police handle it

There would be a piece of crap off the planet and I'd get out of prison at some point. With the right jury, I might not even get sentenced to prison.

This girl didn’t wait 30 years and the rapist to become a public figure before making her claim. Not even remotely close

The police only help other police officers. They are not very helpful to civilians for the most part.

    P.S. I reported my post.

The reason that these monsters go for years, even decades is because they get away with smaller crimes early in their lives. They can't be fixed. So, they leave a trail of broken people who are punished by their nightmares for the rest of their lives usually.

Maybe we could do something as a society to not blame the victim and react quicker and more harshly when these things happen.

oh, I agree, I think we should end the war on drugs and free up space and give rapists and really violent criminals LWOP

I have never agreed with releasing people so dangerous they needed to be on a list into society

I've reported my own posts in the past when someone has said that I've offended them. I accept that other people can be hurt by my words even if my intent wasn't malicious.
