The Pelosi story is bigger cause she's Speaker of the House discussing an infrastructure bill, and Trump is currently a private citizen giving motivational speeches. If the situation were reversed, Democrat media would been talking about how Trump was trying to order them to do his job, and that he doesn't understand the meaning of freedom of the Press. Because Democrat media is not news. They don't cover important stories, and they are constantly retracting politically narrated claims cause their employees' egregious falsehoods are setting them up for lawsuits.

At the end of the day, I don't really care about either statements. No one is talking about Trump. No one is even watching CNN or MSNBC. I only see it aired in airplane lounges. Why? Cause people are talking about inflation and preparations for food shortages. No one can get products and materials. You guys can complain all you want about Fox News, but they spent most of the day covering gas prices, general inflation, food shortages, Union strikes, and the Corporate Democrat (Sineman and Manchen) holdouts that are stalling the extremist segment of the Democrat Party cause they serve at the pleasure of Black Rock, Vanguard, and State Street.

She hasn't retracted and you don't get to put words in her mouth. And it seems to be very significant to you to watch you jump through your loops trying to speciously explain it away and take it upon yourself to reinterpret what she said.

She said, it fits right in with this marriage we have seen in MY COUNTRY between the what has become the MSM and the Democrat party. And in your story Trump corrected his misstatement according to what you posted. I have said since Trump first announced his mouth gets him in more trouble than anything else.

So focus on the subject HERE.

It's not MY job to do so it is PELOSI and the DEMS job and they have ample opportunity to do so, Biden does but he walks away from the microphones. Pelosi does in her press conferences she holds, the NYT the WaPo, CNN, MSNBC, Newsweek, USA Today and on and and on give them ample forums to discuss their proposals.

It is NOT the job of the press to "sell it" for them that is THEIR JOB>

True and it's the messaging which the Pelosi has a staff, Schumer has a staff, the DNC has a staff and the White House has a staff that is failing to grab the public according to the reporter who asked the question.

One doesn't have to read every single line of the bill, that's just a strawman on your part. And your claims there is no reporting on the matter is laughable at best. Again it is NOT the job of the Press to sell it for them, their job is only to report on what they are selling and how well the public is buying it. And try to focus on THAT.

Nothing more to say. You appear uninterested in thinking about opinions other than your own.

The Trump story was when he sided with Putin against the CIA a few years ago. That was surely more important than this Pelosi story. The fact he made an incredibly rare retraction showed even he understood he’d created a real problem for himself.

But on the broader media points, I agree with much of what you say. Yes, if trump had said what Pelosi said, CNN would be all over it, but then Fox would probably be ignoring it, or else talking about CNN’s ‘fake outrage’. So I don’t think either side of the media divide can claim much moral high-ground in terms of impartiality. But then, they’re reflecting the massive partisan divide in the country- partisans of both sides want to see the other side being bashed by their channel of choice. It’s a pretty terrible situation and it’s hard to see what the solution is.

I'm not interested in your mind reading attempts of Pelosi as you try to mitigate what she ACTUALLY said. She has NOT released a statement saying she misspoke or issued a retraction even though her statement has been widely criticized. What she requested is CLEARLY not the role of the Capital Press Corp. Maybe it works that way in your country but not over here, they are considered by some the 4th branch of the government and they are not there to SELL government agendas. You don't get the full exposure to the Press here as we do and I can assure you the Dems have AMPLE opportunity to give their message as the reporter indicated.

No, you just don't understand the function of the press: it is not merely to amplify whatever political parties, "are selling." The press is meant to keep the public INFORMED. In other words, if the Democrats never said a single word about this package, as they were trying to get it passed, the press should have let their constituents know what they doing. I'm sure if the Dems were, "selling," their plan by totally misrepresenting it, you would say that the press should be telling people what's really in it. But your inability to make this cerebral baby-step, to understanding the press's duty of informing the population about highly-consequential legislation, regardless of what those pushing the legislation are saying about it, is clearly a matter of bias, and unwillingness to accept facts that contradict your narrative. I have explained this concept to you numerous times, and you continue to come back with the erroneously non sequitur responses

I am, "claim(ing)," nothing. Your very own source, the video in your OP, is PROOF that the press has not adequately explained the legislation. The reporter predicates her question on the results of a poll showing that a MAJORITY OF AMERICANS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS IN THE BILL. And only 10% say they have a good idea if what is included. This is an indictment of the press. Case closed.

You can continue to spout your fantasies, that Democrats call all the shots, with the media, and could have large blocks of time to go over this bill, in detail, if they so chose; taking my inspiration from your own remarks, I will leave this horse-crap thread by saying: it's not MY job to explain to you how the press is meant to work.

No YOU don't, it is not the job of the Press to SELL one party's agenda as Pelosi criticized the Capital Press Corp for not doing. The only misrepresentations are the claims she said something else.

It is for Pelosi to explain it and sell it, the Press asked questions and prints what they say. You can continue to try and spin it. She gave a VERY BAD answer but it fits right in with HOW the press has been supporting her agenda and promoting and now she EXPECTS it.

Pelosi is upset the media won’t do her job for her
...Someone ought to remind Pelosi that “selling” Biden’s agenda is her job, not the media’s.

Actually, someone ought to remind the media of that as well. I’m not sure which outlets Pelosi has in mind, but almost all of them have embraced Democrats’ $3.5 trillion wish-list without hesitation. The New York Times said in a Sept. 18 report that the passage of the bill would be a “presidency-defining victory” reminiscent of former President Lyndon B. Johnson’s Great Society. CNN declared on Sept. 14 that the bill is the “last hope of achieving meaningful climate action.” And just this week, ABC News attacked Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, who opposes the high cost of the package, for “taking a hard turn to the right.”

Despite what Pelosi thinks, the media have been covering for her, Biden, and the entire Democratic agenda non-stop. The fact that Biden’s plan has still been so unsuccessful, then, is really a testament to just how bad it is, and perhaps also how bad Democrats are at this. They have a free multibillion-dollar propaganda machine, and they still can’t accomplish a thing.

An odd way to describe having the bill being held up by just two Senators.

Then again, there is a lot odd, about your perspective on this story; (imagine this)--
the 1942 press corps: "President Roosevelt, polls show that a majority of Americans are unaware that we are at war with the Axis Powers-- does this mean you need to change your, 'messaging?' "

In ‘42 he would have dismissed that press person as he surely had been living under a rock and that he was probably lying as he gave fireside chats and spoke about it at length. Those were listened to by the majority of the people and he discussed the war a lot.

You are reading my post out of context. I am presenting a fictional analog (which is why I wrote, "imagine this") to Bluesguy's stated view of the press: that it is not their responsibility to inform the public of activities & proposals that have great potential implications for the country (like a $3.5 trillion infrastructure package).

A majority of Americans are clueless as to what is in this reconciliation bill (at last telling, by Dems). Bluesguy sees this informing of the public as only the Democratic Party's job, not the news media's. He is unable, for this story, to differentiate between "selling," a political agenda, and merely supplying the populace with important facts about governmental intentions. So, to suggest that it is completely a failing of Democrats, that people are ignorant of the contents of their legislation, and no job of the press to educate people, would be like, if a majority of Americans had been unaware of our war declarations, and that had been seen as strictly a flaw in political messaging, and not reflecting poorly on the media.

A fictional thing that could not have happened as the majority of the country knew BEFORE ‘42 who we were at war with.

Fdr: Where’d you come from? The entire country knows who we are at war with.

That’s how it would go. In your fictional situation.

And Biden ran as the one who could bring everyone together, the great master of the Senate.

Deal with this not Roosevelt and a strained attempt at some correlation.

"With all his chips now in the middle of the table as this session of Congress winds down, Biden’s hand looks weaker and weaker..."

"Critical issue with voters today: the state of the economy."
"How are Democrats responding to the return of inflation?"
"A second issue that appears beyond the capacity of the Biden people to solve is the invasion from across our southern border. "
Nightly film of border crossers and their encounters with the Border Patrol have riveted the attention of the nation.

Lately, there has been a new feature. Sporadic small arms fire at U.S. Border Patrol agents by cartel coyotes who are enriching themselves by steering migrants from all over the world to crossing points on the Rio Grande. By year’s end, some 2 million illegal immigrants will have crossed under the de facto open borders policy of the Biden administration...[/quote]
"Another issue for Biden is the surge of both random and purposeful violence in liberal Democratic cities where knifings, shootings and killings are approaching new records."

This guy is an unhinged autocrat.
"Biden’s political fortunes and his party’s future are likely to hinge upon the fate of his Build Back Better legislation, currently in the custody of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi."
"Wednesday, four polls found that half the nation — and in three of them, more than half — now disapprove of his presidency."

You apparently cannot grasp the concept of hypothetical scenarios. The idea is merely to equate two very important news items, that the populace is mostly ill-informed about. For this, we need to use our imaginations, to consider a fictional-- which means, not true-- circumstance, in which the newspapers did not cover the events that presaged our entry into the war any better than our current media has made known to Americans, what has been proposed in the $3.5 trillion infrastructure reconciliation bill. In case you missed it, the video in the OP, quotes a poll that found the majority of Americans had no idea of its contents.

Now, I understand that Americans today consume news differently than they did, 80 years ago. But if you are going to get hung up on every, non-central detail, then analogies are probably just not your thing. The important, "given," from my perspective, is this: the
point of a free press is to keep the public informed on things of importance, which not only includes governmental actions, but treats these as primary, among those things about which citizens need be kept informed. So, to be functioning correctly, the press must adapt to changing times.

Since I (& 10% of respondents) believe we have a sense of a decent number of specifics, about what is being proposed, I am obviously not saying that there has been no coverage, anywhere. But clearly, it has not reached most Americans. I take this to be a deficiency, on the part of the press, which I dramatize by substituting some other, very important news, to see if Bluesguy's contention still holds; namely, that it is NOT the press's JOB to disseminate important news, but rather, the job of whatever politician or Party is pushing the action, whether that be a restructuring of our country's infrastructure, or taking our troops to war.

Selling the idea, we both agree, is the role of the politician. But Bluesguy has said that it is only the job of the press, to amplify whatever "messaging," the Party comes out with. I strongly dispute that view, contending that it is the duty of the press to present relevant facts to the public, regardless of what the politicians are, or are not, saying.

The last thing she should want is for people to know what is in the bill.

I disagree. Just because faux news has its collective head stuck up trump’s ass, don’t expect the msm to play lapdog to Biden.
They are not a cult that demand mindless obedience like the cons.

And that is patently false, I have been very clear they should and already report what is the proposal they give plenty of opportunity to the Dems to present what they are proposing, they report on the various proposals they are considering and the their discussions of those proposals, the question to Pelosi was how she was going SELL the proposal get people to accept, to support it what was going to be he messaging to do that. Pelosi responded it was HER and the Press's job to SELL it. That is patently false.

Your argument boils down to the Press is not covering what is going on, where do get that idea, what are they supposed to do go door to door. Do you have anything to back up this assertion of yours that the Press is not reporting on it?

So you have been saying, and to which I have been responding: where is your proof of this, other than your say-so? Here is MY PROOF, that the media has NOT done its job if making the public aware of the information: the poll cited, in your OP video, found that the majority of Americans were unaware of this information.

That proves my case. And you have offered nothing in rebuttal, save your personal, unsupported assertions. So for you to continue to do so, is a pointless waste of time (if not breath). What I said is not, "patently false," because that implies that the proof is obvious to see, but you apparently can't find any, as you have shown none if it.

I am not going to continue going in circles with you. I stand by my contention, and my proof, in the face of your mere say-so, no matter how many times you repeat yourself.

She wants them to sell her package the same way they sold Obama's crummy economy and war against ISIS. If the American public had known the truth about Obama he never would have been elected to a second term. If they had known the truth about Trump's economy Trump would have walked away with the election.
