Speaking during a Wuhan coronavirus press briefing Wednesday morning, Centers for Disease Control Director Rochelle Walensky said young children ages 5-11 will still need to wear masks even if they are vaccinated against the disease.

"After we have authorization from FDA and recommendations from CDC, we will be working to scale up pediatric vaccination. That said, it will take some time. And as I just noted, as we head into these winter months, we know we cannot be complacent," Walensky said. "We are going to continue to recommend masks in all schools for all people in those schools, and we will look forward to scaling up pediatric vaccination during this period of time."

The FDA has not approved a Wuhan coronavirus vaccine for children ages 5-11, but the White House put out a plan to vaccinate the age group Wednesday morning. According to data and doctors, the risk to children from the disease is extremely low.

Big government knows no bounds. The China virus is a government tool to control we the people and make sure that a return to pre China virus normal never happens. Now they want to gag our kids in face diapers forever more.

It will seem like that to 5-11 year olds 8 hours a day 5 days a week with no end in sight.

Seems as though government doesn't care if these kids experience severe adverse reactions. You will, period. This woman has appointed herself Mom for a nation. How arrogant can these ingrates get?

Exactly. I seeded this article somewhere else and it was censored there because of the word forever in the title instead of indefinitely or some other word. The Morons over their acted as if the word forever in an op Ed was to be taken literally. Well they use MBFC for content control so intellect was never a key there on decisions like that.

Which is why only one incredibly biased or a complete mental moron / idiot would take the word forever literally in this context.

I didn’t. Katie Pavlich or Town Hall did. Plus it’s an opinion article, not a hard news one. Holding an op Ed headline to the same standard as a hard news one Is just plain stupid.

Not a valid argument. Care to address the points?

The risk for children is extremely low and does not justify this excessive overreach of power.

It is important that children develop emotional intelligence at an early age. Learning to communicate involves reading facial expressions as well as words. Denying them the ability to develop these skills puts them at a disadvantage. They could grow up being that guy on forums using the term "yawn"!

A global pandemic killing millions of people worldwide perhaps?

But I know, I know, in rightists minds, it matters not that others have to die if they don't directly impact them. But if they did, that's a whole new issue.

wearing a costume won't change that
When you think everything that you don't agree with or that more likely your politicians don't agree with is some sort of vast right-wing conspiracy you're leaving the realm of rationale.

You are the one that thinks wearing a costume will protect you from a virus.

Surgical masks are only really ever useful in surgery. Anywhere else you wear them you're wearing a costume.

And believe it or not wearing a piece of filthy cloth over your face is probably more detrimental to your health than the virus and has a very very low chance of killing you.
