I would hazard a guess that there was used material that was not ejected previously in the barrel which was shot out. Remember that this gun is from around the 1880s assuming the date of the film and it was not a replica. In the case of the other actor, the gun was probably pointed at his temple where the skull is thin enough to have smashed sending a fragment of bone into his brain

Call Columbo and Perry Mason. They have BOTH solved similar cases.

Yes, as he killed one and hurt the other. Did he fire the 'prop' gun twice? He was on video at the side of the road putting on a dramatic show for the cameras. He has been a dangerous person for a long time.

I don’t know all of the laws pertaining to gun usage in New Mexico, but I do know that many gun friendly states have laws making the gun owner and shooter responsible for what happens with their guns, accident or not. An example of this would be there’s an intruder in your house and your shoot it out with him. If one of your bullets goes through the window and hits someone on the street, you’re responsible. Now I can’t say for sure if being responsible would also mean criminally and financially responsible,I guess that might depend on the circumstance and how the DA feels.

But what happened with Baldwin seems to be bit different. It looks like he was putzing around and may have intentionally pointed a gun at someone and pulled the trigger not knowing he had a live round in the chamber. Sorry, that’s on him. You never point guns at people unless they pose a threat, guns are not a frigging joke.

If this happened to me in my back yard here in New Mexico, I’d be in a world of hurt.

It was a .44 caliber. That is about as powerful handgun you would want to hold. That is what Dirty Harry used.

Anti-gun liberal kills coworker with a gun. Quite fitting, and couldn't have happened to a more deserving person...

You and others are right........ this is a very strange story. Factual info is slim...........leaving folks to make their own assumptions......or formulating theories of what actually happened.

Alec has released a statement ........and appears distraught at what happened.

He will have to live with this now.........

    Seems like manslaughter to me.

And don't forget Baldwin has a history of violence.

Isn't the film set in the 1880s so where did you read that it was the same gun as dirty Harry's?

    A Deringer pistol was a .44

Several major safety rules were clearly violated here.

I actually feel really bad for Alec, yes, I know he's an *******. That has to be a horrible feeling. Whoever was responsible for that gun sucks. It could be Criminal Negligence.

I am a gun person. Even if someone handed me a prop gun, I would dump the magazine, clear it, check the rounds in the magazine, and then proceed. I don't expect some Leftist like Alec to know these things. No gun in my hand will ever kill another human being, unless that was my intent. Guns need to be handled with absolute respect. I have taught my son that every gun is loaded, unless he has personally verified it is not. Even, then... we never, ever, point a gun anywhere but downrange, or straight up, or straight down.... unless your intent is to kill.

RIP to Halnya Hutchins and I hope the director heals up. This sucks.

Anyone who ever attended an NRA safety course would repeat everything you just said. What are the chances of Baldwin attending such a course?

I recall reading several years ago the company that supplies "prop" guns to studios could arm a small army AND has historical specimens that would make any museum drool. I suppose "realism" drives the use of fully functional guns, that and cost of blank firing only guns.

THAT one would think should be a requirement before actors are allowed to handle "prop" guns, but we're talking oh, so liberal PC Hollywood here.....

    lol... zero.

My Dad was special forces and was hyper critical of all gun handling. My son started with his first 6 shooter, single action, .22, at age 7. I hate going shooting with both of them, because even at my Dad's age he still smokes us with pistols. Then comes my son, who somehow also has that magic touch and tight patterns. My son is super diligent (safety) thanks to me keeping a foot up his ass at all shoots until I saw him rock solid. I do have a special touch at distance, so that's where I like to spend my time shooting... well that and AR's at 200 yards and in, is also fun.... but everyone enjoys that.

Here I am with a Class 3 fully auto high end AR-15 out of the back of the factory in Tennessee. My friend owns the factory. Look closes... you can see shell casings in flight... find all 3 of them.

Glock 21 (.45) - Somewhere in the desert that I will not disclose.... and yes... I have huge hands. I make a full size Glock seem a bit small.

This is a Blacksword AR-15. It can shoot OVER 800 YARDS and is used in competition at distance. (virtually no recoil) The barrels are stainless steel for no movement and the muzzle break is next world tech.

    Got me there!
The “Cowboy Colt” was .44 revolver, but yes, not a 44 Mag, and not modern powder.

The original was .41 Short, and the new ones come in a wide range of calibers.
