About Jan 6 and it has been cited repeatedly so don't take my word for it since you haven't. Do you own search and then post where the FBI has arrested anyone for insurrection or declared there was a pre-planned plot to over throw the government.

It is broad when it involves a LEGISLATIVE purpose, it does not here. Cite the Constitution or any SCOTUS decision that grants the Congress the power to conduct criminal investigation.

YEAH! It was totally justified that BLM and ANTIFA murdered many innocent people, hospitalized even more, and destroyed millions if not billions in property. Their cause was so tangible!

    Clown World.

Someone should have warned poor Crazy Rudy. Now he can't represent Dirty Don in any more frivolous suits since he got in trouble for lying in court on Don's behalf.

Can you show me where that applies under the law?

If he does...... they won't get anything out of him. He will play the "take the fifth " or some other evasive game.. Like Donald.......he likes the drama and attention. ( bad attention is better than no attention to these blokes)

YES they have constitutional authority of oversight over the executive branch PERIOD. You need to get out from behind the partisan blinders and let congress do it's job of finding out who supported and helped organize the Jan 6th seditious conspiracy.

    It's about the rioters.

Hundreds of them will go to jail.

Whether it's for insurrection or participation in a riot only matters to you and your MAGA friends.

The rest of us know that the MAGA were on Capitol Hill to prevent Pence from certifying the vote, and thus, from obstructing democracy.

Are you going to deny that?

As for the Republican elected officials, those worms who helped Trump foment this coup, you can count on the 1/6 Commission to expose them.

    You're not done being upset.

What are you waiting for to offer your legal advice to GOP elected officials?

You are wasting your time on this forum...

I doubt Bannon would end up at Leavenworth... I understand that's primarily for military personnel, and whatever Bannon considers himself in hierarchy of the Big Lie fight, he's not military..

I'd suggest the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women would be more appropriate...

Here's somebody I'm sure I disagree with on just about everything politically, EXCEPT the Bannon vote...

    SNIP
“This isn’t rocket science. It’s actually pretty simple,” Mace said. Mace, who in January was appointed to the influential House Oversight and Reform Committee, said her vote was about not letting partisan politics get in the way of precedent. “I want the ability to investigate and have subpoena power in the future, and I don’t want to water that down in the future because there are things I’m going to want to investigate. It goes both ways, right? This is a bipartisan issue,” Mace said.
    ENDSNIP

Her rationale is spot on.... I wonder why the rest of the GOP isn't considering this, except for the fact that this party is no longer interested in governing or performing most of the job for which they were elected..

Voting against the Bannon contempt wasn't "watering anything down".... It was drowning it deader than a doornail...

That all depends on the charges. I mainly use Leavenworth as a reference, because from the statements he has made, he is in deep doo-doo for the civil case. Electronic forensics will be a main factor on any criminal charges.

What civil case? You mean a potential civil contempt charge? I had heard that could be more powerful long term than the criminal charge, but I don't think there's anything out there yet...

Hello, that's the point of the investigation, did he commit any crimes or not. He needs to appear and hide behind the 5th but turn over docs and records.

Well, now he's also been credibly accused of committing a crime to avoid testifying, so he's got that going for him...

While I'm not sure what the DOJ is going to do here, I will predict they will do it quickly, so Congress can try other avenues of attack, attacking what you need to do when your institution is itself attacked...

This is, of course, a lie, but I almost wish R's could gain control of a house so Biden can thumb his nose at their attempts at investigating whatever they will gin up....

Congress has the full power of the constitution behind them in this case.

Exactly and it doesn’t give them this power.

Sorry there is a HUGE difference between and insurrection and a riot. The FBI has found no evidence of an attempt to overthrow the government or any pre-planning to do so. They went to Capital Hill to voice their opinions and urge Pence not to certify just as protestors regularly protest to get the government to do something in their favor. Since there was no conspiracy and no pre-planning who exactly are you claiming Trump was involve in some plot with and be specific with the evidence to back it up.

And stop with your emotions thingy deal and letting them dominate your post with your vengeance seeking deal with the facts and the evidence.

And have you called for the rioters at the Department of Interior last week to be subject to a Congressional investigation and to be jailed for their crimes and "insurrection"?

Not of the PRESIDENT..............PERIOD. You need to take off you partisan vengeance blinders. It is NOT the job of the Congress to do criminal investigations and since the FBI has said there was no seditions conspiracy what evidence do you have otherwise and be specific.

Please point me to the official FBI statement that supports what's quoted in bold (a claim)? Thank you.
