You handle a gun you are ABSOLUTELY responsible. Gun Safety 101....you check to see if it's loaded when given a gun. No it doesn't matter if someone hands you a gun and tells you it's not loaded, you still check and THIS STORY is EXACTLY why that is a part of gun safety.

Baldwin was negligent and it's not even up for debate. He was negligent and it resulted in someone's death. You can debate what should happen to him but that he was negligent isn't up for debate. He should face charges.

Liberals think the one who handed him the gun is responsible.

    No surprise...

Responsibility is always someone else's job...

The High Standard was used by the OSS as a "hush puppy" pistol with or without a suppressor.

Its true they were used to shoot out lights or radios or tires or sentry dogs. But they were used for anti personell work as well.

.22 rimfire ammo manufacturers actually made true fmj .22 lr ammo to comply with the laws of war at that time.

I don't think this killing was intentional. Whether Alec Baldwin serves time remains to be seen

I will give him the benefit of doubt.

But I hope we can agree that intentional or not the consequences may be criminal.

Every word you said is sympathetic to Baldwin.
Wonder if he had been a Republican?

There is a dead woman along with a seriously injured man. Why don't they matter?[/QUOTE]
If they died by getting hit by a car who would you blame, the driver or the person who handed him the car keys?

This makes me wonder why don't they disable prop gun if they're going to be in a movie and you can edit in the muzzle flash and post why does it have a functioning firing pin? It'll function all the way it should it's just wouldn't fire even if you had a live round in it.

    Blanks are for stage shows.

Someone probably got the two confused. They probably needed a real one for one of the scenes.

The movie had a low budget and all the workers were working under a lot of pressure.

It's also not as simple as you might imagine it to be. It's not always practical or cost effective to make a prop version of every type, and it is not good to ruin what is a collector's item.

So one killed in one injured. Was it the same bullet that exited the one who was killed or injured or vice versa or did he pull the trigger twice?

But you did say it. And you just repeated yourself while also denying you said it at the same time . To quote; 'the left; does politics above all else'. Ergo the right does not.

Do I really have to start counting off the list of right wing (i.e. socially politically conservative) regimes around the world that 'play politics' to such an extent that all opposition, no matter how law abiding is viewed as something to be stifled and suppressed? I mean only someone who has their head stuck in the sand (or up their ass - choose the analogy you prefer) would be naive enough to believe such regimes don't exist.

So to clarify my point which you seem to have trouble grasping. Conservatives don't have a monopoly on political integrity and neither do Liberals, left unchecked both sides are equally capable of oppression and if history tells us anything its that the long slide into Dictatorship starts when people fall into the trap of believing 'their side' of politics and only their side are the ones with the best interests of their nation at heart.

you can use a real one for the scenes just disable it so that it won't fire.
the problem is someone brought the right kind of ammunition there if they're overworked and underpaid why did they go buy ammunition?
it is exactly that simple. You take a few minutes not hours minutes to remove the firing pin. You don't need to make a prop version you just use the version you have without the killing. Doesn't hurt it cuz when you're done you simply put the firing pin back in it.

I've done it several times for free it takes a few minutes.

It absolutely most certainly is that simple.

I have no recollection of any interaction with him whatsoever. Tina Fey however is the worst. Never said hello (that is not uncommon, as you cross paths with the crew coming and going a thousand times in a day, so it's pretty standard NOT to greet other people) but not even when you are in an elevator together? Had the carpenters build radiator covers for her appartment and the painting department paint them. For all of our efforts, the carpenters got a bottle of whiskey (predominantly irish origins of crew) and the painting department a bottle of vodka (head of department russian). Not cool. This was shortly before she went on strike as a writer meaning we were all going to be unemployed... She is the worst

No, sorry. Things in reality are just more complex than you can easily imagine.

It's so easy to think "Well, you should've have done this". But you're not in that situation to actually know why doing it that way would not be such a sensible idea.
It's like saying we should put rubber bumpers on the bottoms of planes to help save people's lives if the plane has rocky landing. Yeah, might sound like a great idea, but it's actually stupid and doesn't make any sense.

Except for the fact that (as industry insiders have pointed out) there are some scenes everyone who has ever watched television will have seen where the person holding the firearm is looking directly into the camera and pointing/aiming a firearm at the viewer. When that happens it means the there's a camera and its operator directly in front of the actor concerned. Depending on the situation the Director and other production staff will also be standing around that camera delivering instructions to the actor about what he/she has to do next. This is not always the case (in some cases a 'robo' camera is used) but that is not by any means always the case.

So then. Still certain 'it's all Baldwin's fault'? Maybe instead of 'pontificating' on subjects about which you only have a layman's knowledge it might be better instead to just wait and see what the investigation reveals.

false I own many guns you know how many people have accidentally shot with them?
yes I do actually know in this situation if the firearm was disabled it wouldn't need to be a prop and it wouldn't have fired I'm capable with doing that with a screwdriver and a few minutes.

don't shoot people is like this how?

Did the statement make sense to you when you typed it because I can't figure it out
if you're going to be pointing a gun at people and pulling the trigger to make it look realistic it is a great idea not to shoot them. It's not like rubber bumpers on the bottom of an airplane or whatever stupid nonsense you posted.

That's like saying well I don't want to die in a car accident so don't drive off a cliff.

If you have no idea what you're talking about you should really avoid speaking with any kind of authority.

There are such things as accidents, and just because someone was especially good at making fun of one's icon is no reason to assume they are gratuitous murderers

Y'know, slavish devotion to any one person, particularly to the point where you can't view satire of your fetish with good humor, is repugnant to the American spirit, ot at least so I always thought.

It seems like it was an accident, so I don't think any criminal charges are appropriate, but I do think that Alec Baldwin will be, and should be, crushed by lawsuits.

From the info that's trickling in, his production company was filming this movie slapdash and sloppy on a shoestring budget, and it seems like that may have contributed to the gun mishap being an accident waiting to happen.

It seems to me that old anti gun Alec was enjoying playing with a gun, prop or no. Why was he pointing it at the woman he killed since she wasn't actually in the movie?

Relax, you're soaking in it. You will no more ruin a firearm by disassembly than you would a remote control by changing the batteries.

If it was a Colt replica he would have had to have been twirling it cocked and that would be so incredibly stupid not even Baldwin should do it. I think he was horsing around and shot her with a blank round for whatever reason. Some weird act of flirting I would guess.
