Exactly. This line from archives about the budget not being decreased even though overtime and hundreds of officers were cut should actually set up red flags to people about the line items within these police budgets. They allocated much of those savings to social programs, increased pay, increased benefits, and both public and private security for city officials. It stinks of corruption.

At a time when these cities needed more police, these cities cut budgets that were needed to increase the hiring of new recruits. Cities, such as Milwaukee, cut those increases, and then reallocated those funds to other programs.

    I can't blame Portlanders for becoming pro-police:

Dems supported it, you may not have but your leaders did. And I absolutely could, but like usual I do not inform the purposefully uninformed.

Fact is, dems supported it and it blew up in your face.

Democrats to Cops in 2020: You’re Evil Racists And We Want To Defund You! Democrats to Cops in 2021: We Need You To Enforce Vaccine Mandates. Cops to Democrats: Get Stuffed!
We have the bastards backing up. Keep Pressing Forward, all the way through the elections.

It's almost as if by the very nature of the job being highly stressful, that you are inevitably going to have some good cops and bad cops. And that most of not all of the bad cops are a product of being mentally taxed and not systemic racism.

More than 20 major cities have reduced police budgets in some form, and activists are fighting to ensure that is only the start

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/mar/07/us-cities-defund-police-transferring-money-community

These US cities defunded police: 'We're transferring money to the community'

With public pressure on them, mayors and city councils responded. In 2020 budget votes, advocacy groups won over $840m in direct cuts from US police departments and at least $160m investments in community services, according to an analysis by Interrupting Criminalization, an initiative at the Barnard Center for Research on Women. In 25 cities, such as Denver and Oakland, officials moved to remove police from schools, saving an additional $34m.

The left: "We need to pay teachers more so we'll have better teachers."

Also the left: "We need to pay cops less so we'll have better cops."

    agree.....

we need to punish bad cops, criminals are criminals regardless if they wear a badge

we don't say road rage is a valid defense cause it's the stress of driving that causes it

BUT......parents complaining at school board meetings are more terroristic than ISIS and the Taliban combined, deserving special scrutiny from AG Lavrentiy Garland and his KGB, uh, FBI.

How about we start by punishing the bad cop who shot the unarmed woman at the Capitol?

that was not a bad cop, that was a good shoot

had he handcuffed her, then put his knee on her neck for 9 minutes while she slowly died, sure, then that would be a bad cop

Antifa is a large organization of violent people.

    That is proven fact.

Nope, that half a million dollars of rioting damage that spun out of a memorial for a murdered "Antifa soldier" was done by "vandals".

Couldn't have been Antifa, they're just a webpage, and a right wing boogeyman.

Sean's energy was channeled into a riot that caused half a million dollars in damage.

Well in this case we would say road rage is an obvious symptom of systemic racism and there fore we should defund drivers

You can't blame the media for everything, and it's not their job to "squash" people. They report stuff, and protests and/or riots make a good story.

They report "specific" stuff that perpetuated a "specific" narrative. The news media is actually at the center of all or most of the decision in this country and they perpetuate bad ideas.
