    The drugs that Fauci used to save his sorry ass when he nearly died of covid were tested on animals during development.
    Not to mention his orange makeup. How many rabbits died to keep trump orange, eh? The number must be astronomical.

    Most modern prescription medicine would still exist, we'd just not test it on animals.

    Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against animal testing within reasonable limits, but to suggest we wouldn't use drugs in its absence is a little naive.

    Would our risk be greater? Sure. But we aren't going to stop developing drugs because we can't test them on mice.

    And how do you think drug safety is tested in clinical trials? Yes, using animal models, before the human trials start.

    Note that doing animal research involves TONS of red tape. I personally don't do it in my laboratory, but if the compounds we work on would ever make it into a clinical trial, animal tests will have to be done even beforehand. Each institution has animal care committees that ensure the humane care of animals, and that animal experiments are ABSOLUTELY necessary and cannot be replaced by cell line experiments.

    So, the notion in this thread that Fauci hand picked a grant because he enjoys seeing puppies suffer during animal experiments is just bunk. Leave it to the RW, though, to deceive for cheap political points, no surprise here.
