Sudan’s military detains prime minister, Cabinet members in apparent coup "The apparent detention of the prime minister and a large number of his Cabinet and party members early Monday morning plunged the country’s fragile democratic transition into disarray." https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...Q.VHBSASF85XYCfwmy5PX4-MECb89rms5GcEUuTEgvesM
Democracy is under attack under Biden. The world knows he will do nothing nor will anyone else. I hate to say it but the most resilient and stand up democracies on the world display as of now is France and the UK. The rest are living in a delusional fantasy that their actions of identity politics will help secure democracy and freedom. Under Biden we lost democracy in Afghanistan, and now Sudan. We’ll likely see Russia absorb Ukraine as well. I will give Biden credit for something. He’s actually trying to be hard on China. He even threatened military intervention if Taiwan is attacked. Unfortunately his administration backed down from his comments and said the policy has not changed meaning only weapon support. Like I’ve said before I don’t think Biden is really running anything. Everything he said he would do on a foreign scale has been overruled by someone with more power than him. Just like leaving the military in Afghanistan until every American who wanted out was out, and his comments on China and Taiwan. He really has no power.
Sigh. Everything is about Biden with you guys, and everything is about Trump with democrats. You guys need a new hobby. And you need to throw out your political religions too. Anyways, back to the Sudan. I wonder what side Egypt favors in this. The Nile is their lifeblood, flowing right through it. Just speculation, but I wonder if it is a proxy war between Egypt and Ethiopia? I know they were at odds not too long ago when Ethiopia wanted to build a dam on the Nile for hydropower. I don't know enough about politics in the region, so just some ideas.
Surely these situations are incredibly dangerous. Nobody really knows anyone else's loyalties, and they're all armed with select fire rifles. Imagine walking in there to depose the head of state. Anyway, I wish my Sudanese brothers luck in obtaining some sort of liberty.
You really wandered all over the place, in that reply, didn't you? Not to say, that I wouldn't be interested in asking about a couple of the things that you mentioned, but to keep to the topic at hand: I am fairly confident that whether Joe Biden or Donald Trump was the U.S. President, played a 0% part, in the decision to go ahead with this apparent coup. Do you have any facts, or reasons to argue otherwise?
I promise that I'm not trying to be smart-ass, here, because I am in the same boat as you, regarding my lack of familiarity w/ Sudanese politics; but maybe read the linked article (just an idea)? And, if you don't know this trick-- you should go through there in incognito mode, if you don't have a paid WaPo subscription, so you won't be limited, after 2 articles/month, to just the opening paragraph or two.
It is just a matter sending aircraft there to pick them up. Oops, I hope I didn't give anyone in Washington a heads up.
Sudan and ethiopia are not allies. Neither are they agressors. This is likely an internal sudanese struggle related to its on going civil war, one of the longest civil wars in history. Its between the newly u.s backed civilian govt and the military backed by the "deposed" islamic leader Bashir. Its essentially whites trying to install another puppet regime sympathetic to "european" traditions/agendas. In other words, Oil.
