YOU are the BENEFICIARY of MEDICAL and AGRICULTURAL Science in YOUR daily life.

I ACKNOWLEDGE that Science has vastly IMPROVED our lives WAY BEYOND the short, disease filled brutish lives of our Stone Age ancestors that came up with the SUPERSTITIONS that YOU still PROFESS.

Science MATTERS whereas your SUPERSTITIONS have zero positive IMPACT on the PROGRESS provided to us by Science that YOU benefit from all the time.

 

Perhaps you should reread the post. Most self-proclaimed atheists are not arguing or trying to prove "not God", they're saying only that theism has not provided enough justification for their claims. Most atheists have no interest in the idea of God not existing, but have an interest in the impact Christianity/similar have on politics/society/etc.. So supplying proof of not God or comparing the amounts of evidence would be missing the point.

 

Personally, I think that the impact that liberal progressives have on politics/society is a thousand times worse than any Judeo-Christian religion has ever had.

At the very least, Judeo-Christian Religions encourage humans to rise above their failings, whereas progressive liberalism gives people permission to celebrate their baser (more vile) inherent flaws.

 

sure they know they can neither prove their claims nor justify their assumptions (why they reject the proposition G/god exists) because not god and god are both based in faith, not fact. yet atheists brag about how logical and grounded in reason they are. NOT, it is the point!

 

What pleases and blesses me the most is the knowledge that God lives, loves and knows me. Science cannot begin to comprehend it.

My references to Christianity and society only serve to illustrate that atheists in their current popular form are not trying to prove that no god exists, they are only trying to show that belief in God's existence is not warranted, that theists have not provided good justifications for belief in God.

What's ridiculous is your misquoting from the Bible (which testifies of God and salvation) as a means to say there is no God. The Bible also says that Satan is the Father of lies and a murderer from the beginning. And fwiw, my testimony that God lives does not come from the Bible or from people or science, but from God himself. And like Jesus told Peter, "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

I personally believe that most Atheists just want to be left alone to live their lives unhindered by religion. Yes some of them, feeling their oats, occasionally go out to pick verbal fights with theists. So what. We all get uppity or froggy from time to time. It isn't the end of the world. We still have lives to lead or live. It is somewhat fun and good exercise of a type.

 

My goal in this thread was simple - to make the point that atheists cannot prove that God does not exist, the same as atheists claim that Christians cannot prove that God does exist.

Both are choices, and both can only be believed by individual faith.

Nevertheless, I have been in challenging circumstances, and I have never heard anyone ask "nothing" for help.

 

There is obviously something "in the air" that fights against chaos and often wins. This "something" creates structures, symmetries, and much more, including life. It doesn't have to be intelligent. It just does its job. Some call it God ...

Very good point. My older agnostic brother once confessed to me that he had gone cave diving alone without a safety line. When he was in the pitch black cave his light went out. No prob, he has a backup light. Released the first light and located the backup light dangling from his belt. Click...no light...click, click, click, click...nothing. He banged it against the palm of his other hand, and then clunked it against his tool belt...nothing. Now it's pitch black and he doesn't even know where he's facing or even if he's upside down due to weighlessness and dark. His whole mind and being filled with terror at the notion of his mortality. And the first and only thought that filled his mind and soul was OH GOD. And as he explained it, it wasn't a figure of speech. It was a basic instinctual plea...a cry for help. Then his light came on and he ended his dive. So like you said, nobody cries for "nothing for help." Which leads me to wonder if everybody knows that God is real at some level. But they just need a reason to believe.

 

Then again, God judges our hearts. In large part ones godliness is a matter of how one lives ones life. In that regard, an Atheist may be nearer to or more favored of God than a self proclaimed Christian whose godliness goes no further than cheap words and meaningless parroting.

Why would atheists need to prove that the Christian God does not exist? It's enough to prove that the god (Christian or otherwise) theory is incompatible with empirical data.

The title of your thread is wrong. Atheism is not a belief.

There are no Atheists or Scientists who claim what you claim.

Unlike you, we have the moral courage to admit that for want of technology to gain a 100% understanding, or sufficiently close, we are not able to know exactly how it happened.....yet.

We also have the moral courage to admit we may never know, except to say it wasn't a supernatural god-thing.
