All candidates aren't Hillary Clinton, either, but that is irrelevant to McAwful being a corrupt scumbag. One of the many reasons why he lost is because he ran a dishonest negative campaign and Youngkin refused to crawl down into the sewer with him.

Actually, in the last few days (especially over the weekend) it became apparent that Youngkin was going to win.

    Trafalgar 10/29 - 10/31 1081 LV 3.0 49 47 Youngkin +2
    InsiderAdvantage 10/27 - 10/30 500 LV 4.4 47 45 Youngkin +2
    FOX News 10/24 - 10/27 1212 LV 3.0 53 45 Youngkin +8

Thus, it was not anywhere near as much of an "upset" as claimed by gloating partisans.

Last night he was all snarls and litigious like. Guess he found out the mail in ballot printing presses weren't going to help him win this time...

    So what?

McAulliffe had the grace to concede.

Trump is still living in delusions and whining about a "Stolen Election".

If you can't see the diffrrebce, I can't help you.
One either gets it or they don't.

    Bottom line:

A person (like Youngkin) with a net worth of $440 Million is still capable of buying an election.

Obviously, Youngkin was able to capitalize on Anti-Dem sentiment and McAulliffe's baggage.

And, admittedly, Youngkin came from behind.
A virtual political unknown until he spent millions of his owns dollars for name recognition.

But, in recent days, Youngkin had pulled ahead.
And, last night's result (based on recent polling) can hardly be considered an upset.

Trump and his supporters have pissed off magnitudes more.

I will say it again, all politics are cyclical, this was a close race, youngkin won in this election. 4 yrs from now who knows, that is a long time in USA politics.

It does give Republicans an advantage. That said I agree it wasn't that much of an upset.

It was much more of an upset than LW partisans whistling past the graveyard are claiming, and all the Democrats crapping their pants over losing an election they should have won easily recognize that.

    LOL

On the bright side, the Dems can be happy that they still have another year to clean things up before the Midterms.

I want to thank you SOOOO much for saying this, because I knew it was only a matter of time until somebody did. I wish I could find the video of VP Harris saying the following, maybe someone else can because it IS out there, but let me give you her DIRECT quote, from just a few days ago...

Hopefully they will get to the bottom of Trump's shenanigans for 1/6.

Blaming Trump for everything is not a winning strategy.

Yeah, keeping their heads firmly up Trump's ass sure worked out well for 'em yesterday in Virginia, huh?

    :roflol:

SOME (but NOT ALL) are freaking out.

But, the Hyper-Partisan; Ultra-LW Progressives have always had a hard time dealing with political reality.

For example, anybody who ever thought that Sanders could win a National Election in 2020 was dreaming.

Obviously, the Dems need to recruit more Moderate Candidates in Swing Districts.

Following the wishes and whims of Ultra-RW "Progressies" can only lead to the demise of the Dem. Party.

    ^BUT, Everybody Already KNOWS That.

    Indeed,

At the state level, this is not a winning strategy.

Especially since Trump hasn't made his return official.

When he does, it will be a different story.

Not in this previously blue state (Virginia) where Biden, McAuliffe and their supporters have obviously pissed off more. Dems ran hard against Trump and they got wiped out in both the statewide elections and the local races for the House of Delegates.

True, politics are cyclical, and as I pointed out earlier the electorate is just starting to give Democrats a taste of what they gave Republicans last year. 2022 is shaping up to be a lot like 2010. The last time Virginia elected a Republican governor was 2009 - the year after Obama got elected.

    When Harris said THIS:

“What happens in Virginia will in large part determine what happens in 2022, 2024 and on,”

^It was the equivalent of telling people that "The Atlantic Ocean Contains Water"

Actually Democrats think they lost ground because they didn't go far enough to the left.
