Democrats deserved to be mocked. They are not doing much better than republicans.

    Far worse than republicans indeed.

I’d call them about equal failures, as they are on most issues.

Except that on average, Progressive Leftists have larger carbon footprints than conservatives. Primarily due to their spastic travel habits, and their resource hungry lifestyles.

I’ve never seen any data that supports that. I don’t know how it is where you live, but here it seems every “conservative” wants to buy the biggest truck they can possibly afford, snowmobiles, boats, etc.

I don’t have any data on which ideology has the larger footprint, but I’d guess they are pretty even.

What they are saying is that warming up the planet increases the amount of droughts. That should be obvious. If its hotter, then more water will evaporate, and more droughts will happen as a result! They never claimed the drought will be forever and never take any breaks, like not even a single day.

All our governments deserve to be mocked on this issue, of course.

The very first step we need to take is to immediately stop burning coal. Period. And, we need to replace that energy with electric generation using natural gas.

Gas is bad, too, but it's FAR better than coal. Also, gas IS replacing coal. It's not as if we don't know how, or something.

We can't get nuclear energy and clean energy sources going fast enough to displace coal as early as coal has be be eliminated.

This whole area of power generation is a GIGANTIC economic opportunity, and we're just plain not getting the job done.

That's TWO big hits, while we're all wrapped up in a direction that is totally deserving of being mocked.

I like Thundberg. In recent testimony to a government group, she brought along the IPCC report and asked her audience, "Why are you listening to ME? You should not be listening to ME!"

She's a smart person and one who does NOT claim to know it all. But, she's also taken the time to be serious about the science as well as policy.

Those trucks aren't a patch on the air travel and fashion consumption. Not to mention imported foods/wine, etc. If your only sin is a truck, you're way ahead.

There is data out there, meantime. It's basically "middle-class urban Leftists have the largest carbon footprints". Regardless of how much composting and bicycling they do, their travel habits undermine them. These are the people who MOVE the most - ie, spend the least amount of time at home. They are very ADHD.

There are far, far more of those trucks then there are people zipping around the globe in jets. You seem to be talking about the 1% *******s who have the ability to do whatever they want. The vast majority of liberals and democrats I know are poor as hell, and can’t even afford a vehicle, let alone zip around in a plane. And fashion consumption? I don’t even know what you are talking about there. Sure, I’m sure there is some kind of carbon footprint in the fashion industry. But I don’t think it’s as big as say industries that crank out jeans that everyday people wear.

Middle class urbanites travel more than anyone else on the planet.

The fashion industry is the second biggest polluter.
