It doesnt help that different sources have different definitions. It would be nice if we had a consensus source on terminology, but even dictionaries vary.

More rubbish laden, conspirator theory drivel. At east try to do some basic research before posting nonsense like this on PF (outside that is of the conspiracy sub-forum were it belongs).

This took 10 seconds to find.

    https://www.denverpost.com/2016/10/...er-international-airport-conspiracy-theories/

All I can say is that your 'bunker' would need to be able to hold 500,000 people. What with NORAD, the lizard people and NAZIs all competing for storage room.

Not my experience. I have my lawn cut and hedges trimmed every week by a father/son corporation. We recently had new toilets installed... by a plumber that advertised in the classified section of our local newspaper. Our groceries are delivered by a young guy that incorporated himself to make a living doing that. Our house air conditioning went down last summer and it was fixed by a guy and his son that do such repair work and sell appliances out of their own shop. A new butcher shop owned by three brothers that pooled their resources to build a small shop and stock it, has become our main source of meat... and we are big time carnivores.

But corporations can be good too. Our neighbor's daughter just got her degree and certification as a pharmacist. She loves her new job at Walgreen's... not a nasty old white curmudgeon in sight. "Big nasty old corporations" can be fun too. After I left the Army I worked for guys like Boeing who proved to be very caring and sensitive with their employees.

So I would suggest that one's level of success one's view of the world and whether corporations are bad or good, or if one believe's that a One World Government has even a snowball's chance to come out on top.

I choose both. We need socialist policies to have a society that provides for those in need and sufficient economic freedom for there to be economic prosperity to support those socialist policies, and so that we have the kind of infrastructure to act as a good foundation and scaffolding for private enterprise to flourish. Likewise, we need our citizenry to be provided for well enough that they can participate in the free economy and help to make it a roaring success.

Communism always fails for its misguided attempts to have a bureaucracy control what is ultimately too complex to be controlled by a central committee, and its antithesis, naked capitalism, leads to economic disparities and economic booms and busts that can bring down entire nations and empires. The way forward is the way we have been on since FDR. That's when America became economically great and such a global phenomenon. The right mix of freedom and socialist policies made and continues to make America great.

My lawn and hedges are cut by dad and son company in town that does great. No conglomerate has ever made them an offer to buy them. My new toilets were just installed by a couple of plumbers that advertise in the clasified section of my local newspaper. No one has offered to but them out either. My mechanic makes a good living out of a corner shop in town. He never felt threatened by Ford or GM.

I worked for Lockheed and Boeing after I left the Army. They were a joy to work for. Great pay and benefits... and when I did something extra good I was rewarded for the extra effort.

What we need is a mature, responsible populace that earns their own way in life. For the mentally (certifiable) deficient, the medically (certifiable) challenged, or the emotionally (certifiable) challenged, we must help them. No one disputes that. But simply saying you qualify isn't enough.

Lol. You seem to have a very flawed idea of how the current systems in place actually work. "Simply saying you qualify" is indeed not enough.

The vast majority of First Worlders are far too lazy and comfortable to bother. Just as in all revolutions, only 'revolutionaries' will participate. Everyone else is busy enjoying what they can before the sun goes nova.

I agree with the sentiments as expressed, but disagree that it reflects reality.

The only reason the 'losers' choose socialism, is because they don't have the first clue what is actually involved. They think socialism means free lunch, and nothing could be futher from the truth. Free lunch is the literal opposite of the collectivism premise. Were they granted the socialism they think they want, they will never have worked harder in their lives. They will work harder (in jobs they didn't choose) than they ever imagined possible.

If the current systems are predicated only upon means, then those systems are 'very flawed', and indeed do allow for simply saying you qualify. All you have to do is be broke, and even the wealthy can arrange that.

I'm a firm believer in individual rights and free enterprise. This country was built on it. Control in any form is evil to me. As for the mega corporations, I'm not saying they are bad, but when you see them opening one place after the other in the same area you have to wonder what their objective is - and who owns them.

All the MSM are owned by 6 corporations, and it's these same corporations that support the candidates that run for office. So even though the government doesn't control the media, it is dependent on the corporations who own the media so that they have become one and the same thing. Pravda anyone?

As for Covid, it was looked on as the opportunity to push forward the Great Reset - which is just another term for a one world government. Their first motto was 'You will own nothing and be happy'. As soon as they realized it didn't go over very well, they changed it. Now the motto is, 'building back better', but it's the same thing.

The funny thing about bunkers is that the people you think they are protecting you from probably knows where your bunker is because they somehow helped in its construction or installation. There is a "secret" government bunker in my outside my dad's hometown. It is only a secret to those who don't live in the area or know people who do. Every freaking body else in that area knows it is there because they were there when it was being built, had parents or grandparents there when it was being built or someone in that combination worked on the stupid thing in one way or the other. It is literally the worst kept secret there and the hidden entrances and ducts and such don't change that.

That is absolutely true. Goofing off until you are old enough to look for a job is a certain pathway to failure. But if you work hard in school from the beginning... strive for "all A's" from the start... THAT is the way to go. Then continue doing that in high school. Then apply to a name brand college... get accepted... and you're on your way. Again, my roommate from a tenement in Spanish Harlem did all that and is a doctor today. If you expect to trip on a banana peel and wake up with an engineering degree... it won't happen.

And they are all idiot hampsters running on the wheel, powering the machine that keeps the wealthy and powerful wealthy and powerful, while the vast majority break their backs for susbsistence wages. Some success is allowed to keep up the illusion of freedom, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the machine the elite has built to keep us all in line.

That’s how we have been indoctrinated to behave. We are capable of so much more, but the machine has been rigged to keep us slaves to our baser natures.

What machine? You have ten people in a room with a dollar each.
The machine is in your body, it's called 'human nature' or DNA or
genes. Happens in every culture, in anything from a monastery to
the Polituburo, from Polynesian islanders to the boardroom of
big corporations. There was even rivalry with the two first guys on
the moon - Aldrin felt he should have had the glory.

It seems you have been brainwashed to know your place. You accept limitations, where there are none. You would allow that one person in the room to take everyone’s money instead of having them cooperate and find a way for that 10 dollars to make everyone’s life better. That way of thinking, shared by the vast majority of people on this planet, is why this world is so screwed up. We are unique among all living things in that we are able to recognize our base instincts and rise above them. In the past they were necessary for survival, but now they have become a hindrance, it is time to let them go and take the next step in human evolution.

Sure, and this is where Capitalism comes in. Ten guys with a dollar can't
do anything but one guy with ten dollars can build a business, hire staff,
issue shares and accumulate capital to start new businesses. The staff
form a trade union and increase their wages and conditions.

Shooting anyone with two cows or a petrol engine, like the Bolsheviks
did, didn't create an equitable society - millions died under Lennin and
a lot more under Stalin and Mao.

Hence we need both capitalism and socialism. Without any legislation empowering unions, employers can just replace employees with cheaper ones because labour has no shelf life and people have been made desperate. It gets even easier for employers to exploit workers as technology progresses. Now they can hire people in third world countries or use the money they got by exploiting labour to buy expensive robots and automate.

Then as automation gets more and more advanced, which it will, and workers get more and more replaced by it, we end up with more and more of the population unemployed and unemployable (even doctors, accountants, and engineers eventually), the rich having all the money and eventually the poor, with nothing left to lose, rising up to destroy them.

The only way out of this is to have some socialism, be it a minimum wage, universal basic income, universal health care coverage, free or subsidized education (and only for a few since less labour will be needed), etc.

The accumulation of capital allows that business owner to grow. He then harnesses the energy of the other 9, but gives them barely subsistence wages, far below the actual energy they exert. This allows him to steal the energy they produce after subsistence levels, and pay himself far more than the workers for far less effort, as well as buy more land, capital, etc that will allow him to steal energy from more people. Then, on top of that, he will create loans, charging compound interest, which in effect steals even more energy that he did not earn.

society today views this as normal, because we have been stuck in this system for centuries. It is willing slavery for the vast majority.
