how much of that wealth is reaching the majority of citizens vs how much is being gobbled up by banks, corporations, and other wealthy elites? Economic growth is definitely not a good gauge for the health of a nation.

I asked what is wrong with the world today and you provided a doomsday scenario about some mysterious country you didn't name. Sorry I don't take you seriously at all.

With respect ... what utter nonsense.

We're all free to take our lives wherever we want them to go. No one can stop us becoming 'powerful and wealthy' if that's what we want to do. No can make us 'break our backs' for wages if that's not what we want to do.

I mean that the people are too comfortable to revolt. As long as cheeseburgers are still falling into their mouths, and television screens are still flickering, they're happy.

    LOL. No.

How about everyone in that room is motivated by threat of starvation, to fight to add their own ten bucks to the pool? There will be more resources, greater trust and therefore greater kindness, and far more equity.

In your scenario, first you have to feed ten people on ten bucks, then you have to deal with the fact that two out of the ten people are simply going to decide that since the guy holding the ten bucks is prepared to feed them, they need do nothing at all to earn their meal or contribute to the trust and kindness of the group. It doesn't matter a good g-d dam if the guy holding the money has 'evolved' beyond greed (or whatever fantasy applies), there's no way on earth all ten have. The only way you'll have compliance is via force - and once you do that, any trust and kindness is lost. IOW, you plan is a disaster. Have you learned nothing from the real world examples of this magical thinking?

None of that is socialism. They are all 'luxuries' of capitalism.

For the zillionth time - socialism (and communism) is at its core - WORK TO EAT.

No one is 'stuck' in this system. Any one of us can choose business/property and do things according to our own moral lights. Why haven't you? Why haven't you stepped up and become a model for a Better Way?

America, the most obese nation on earth, and you're worried about people starving. They could feed off their own bulk for several generations.

Why would someone be 'kicked out of their home'? That could only happen if they rented it, or it was mortgaged - and both of those are a risk people choose to take. If you take those kinds of risks, you know what the consequences might be going in.

IOW, we're silent because freely made and fully informed choices are none of our business. Nor yours.

You missed a bunch of points.

It's not about everyone getting a useful degree, it's about people who CLAIM to want more from life, working towards that end. Not everyone actually wants financial security - or rather, they don't want it enough to do the hard yards to get it. Those people - the ones who choose a life of very modest means - they want those low income jobs.

As for your level playing field - the field is a veritable 60 degree slope if some of your players are playing, and some are doing nothing. The more you try to artificially level it, the less level it becomes.

Govt corruption is reponsible insofar as Govt is responsible for the Welfare State which brought about the collapse of human ambition.

It's now so rare that people like you freak out when you see it.

    1) A division proudly re-introduced to America by Obama (so yeah, Govt corruption).

    2) On the contrary, it's a gap between the motivated and the unmotivated. Brought to you by the Welfare State (Govt corruption again).

    3) Climate change brought about by the same educated middle-class First Worlders (via their spastic travel habits) who cry about climate change (so not Govt corruption).

It's a good question. And you will find that the nations I mentioned are largely
mono-ethnic, if there's such a word. And rich nations tend to be more northern
in latitude like Germans, France, Switzerland and the Scandinavian countries.
So sure, there's other factors. But you won't see rich and free Socialist nations
    anywhere.

That's what Marx said. The workers will have their wages slashed.
Only worker's wages rose. And when they got too expensive some
    interesting things began to happen:
in Marx's England the wages grew to the point that English workers
had the highest wages in the world. This spurred the Industrial
Revolution as work was automated with steam power. This had the
most incredible effect upon the whole world.
And then jobs went overseas to lower paying nations. This led to a
situation where Indian workers out-competed English workers in the
textile industry, and this in turn led to the rise of trade unions.

Equalilty, true equality, means you don't pick the best restaurant or
buy the best band records - that makes some rich and the rest poor.
Equality means picking the worst restaurants and worst or medicore
singers. That way everyone remains equal - but it's an equality of the
lowest common denominator. This happened in the Soviet Union.

Progressives think equality means everyone will have a nice middle-class lifestyle, full of choices and freedoms.

Any doubts about the truth of that, just ask 'em. Drill down and get to the heart of what they think their kind of 'socialism' will actually look like for the average person on a day to day basis. They NEVER say 'limited freedoms, few choices, and a much-reduced lifestyle'.

Hey I didn't call your pet 'theory' anything, a professional journalist did, after researching and fact checking the claims about Denver airport, which as the story notes go back decades and include multiple (contradictory) claims that the your alleged bunker is occupied by alternately, NAZI refugees, alien lizard people, occult devil worshipers and last but not least NORAD! And of course as you've now insisting (without producing any evidence) luxury accommodation for the worlds wealthy elites! As I said it before must be getting crowded down there.

And while you can (and did) make completely unverified and unsourced claims the journalist and paper concerned have both professional and financial/legal obligations mandating they confirm any stories they publish as far as is practicable before publishing. i.e. they can be sued if they knowingly publish inaccurate stories. So yes I 'll take their published word over yours any day.

But fine, you disagree? Well then go ahead prove they got it wrong. Produce your 'evidence'. We can all use a good laugh.

If we all got degrees, we might all have a life expectancy of 200 years, have summer homes on Mars, have more food than we need, and be able to go to Gramma's house on Thanksgiving for a dime.
