    Yes.

Count 2 was killing the victim, irrespective of malice, in the course of committing an aggravated assault (with a shotgun). It carries a max of life but not death.

Count 3 was killing another, malice or no malice, during the course of committing an aggravated assault (with a pickup truck). It carries a max of life but not death.

Count 4 killing another, malice or not, during the course of committing a felony (false imprisonment). It carries a max of life but not death.

Count 5 was killing another during the course of committing the felony of attempting to commit false imprisonment. It carries a max of life but not death.

Chris, this has all been laid out already by me and Clennan above. Why don't you just look up the indictment and read it.

Exactly, and this is the precise OPPOSITE of what the Littlehouse verdict said, but I digress. FAR too many Americans think they have FAR too many rights to kill people when they really don't. This verdict is in accordance with most law that people will actually encounter.

Arbery's death is lamentable. But the men charged are innocent, imo. All they set out to do was detain him for the Police. Arbery forced the issue because he was wild and violent, resulting in his own death.

Or they won't think they can be a cop and chase down and kill suspects such as NO real cop would ever DREAM of doing. (not facetious, fact. I know a man who was a beat patrolman until he retired. It was a great point of pride with him that he had never once drawn his gun in that whole time though he had several commendations for bravery

if arbery was "wild and violent" (which may not have been proved) did he not have the natural right to defend himself from an armed gang?

They had no legal right to "detain him for the Police." Also, they didn't even call the police until the end. If they were really detaining him for the police, they would have called the police the moment they began pursuing him . . . which they didn't. The 3 had already initiated violence. The only "violence" Arbery indulged in was in legitimate self defense against criminal activity. Yes, his death is lamentable. He died defending himself against violent criminals. Thankfully, those violent thugs are facing legal consequences for their criminal actions.

They chased down a black guy for jogging and killed him.

There is no possibility of defending that.

Not even close to the truth. Were it true, they'd have caught up to him and simply shot him dead which clearly did not happen. Neither would they have videoed it, which they did.

The only thing the two cases have in common is that someone got shot. Just run with that if you like and don't worry about all the details as to what actually took place.

Without the video, the killing of Arbery would not even have been further investigated.

With the video, the murderers are convicted and the original DA is indicted.

What is absolutely astounding is that the murderers actually thought the video would help THEM!!!

There is just no explaining the logic of violent white supremacists.

"They" didn't video it. The guy following them did. They, violent criminals, murdered an innocent man. They "caught up to him," illegally kidnapped him, and murdered him for attempting to defend himself against their violent crime.

They didn't "video" it. The guy behind them did. He was doing nothing illegal when they murdered him.

So you're saying the guy who videoed it was not charged with a crime and was not convicted of murder??

I think your argument is a little disingenuous and comes up short.

Yes, he was charged with felony murder. You should look at his felony charges.

So there would be no evidence if he had not given the video to police.

By "trying to do the right thing", the one who filmed it just ended up getting himself and the others convicted of murder.

There would have been little evidence. Thankfully he helped record the crime.

So the lesson is don't try to be open with police just because you think you're in the right.

I doubt this guy would have handed over the video if he knew what the outcome was going to be. And I personally wouldn't blame him.
Destroying the evidence might have been the morally right thing to do.

These people naively trusted the justice system. They were stupid enough to believe if they cooperated and told the truth, the right thing would be done.
Police know better, and that is exactly why police engage of coverups of the evidence so often when it involves one of their own - and I don't blame them, especially given the current social/political climate! It's people like YOU who are responsible for making them do that. I blame YOU, not them. YOU, YOU, YOU

Of course you will just never be able to see this.

I guess that is the lesson that aspiring felons would get out of this. Congrats.

The police would have easily had grounds for a warrant if he had resisted.
Destroying evidence is both 1) a criminal offense and 2) immoral. You are, once again in "aspiring felon" territory.

No, they were just naive to trust that the right thing and justice would be done.

Do they deserve 25+ years in prison? Each of them. No, of course not.

I'll wait for the sentencing, but if I could go back in time I would tell them to destroy the evidence.

The guy behind them was filming, but one of the other culprits was the one who made it public. He apparently thought it would help his case in the public. Honestly, they probably would have gotten away with it if it hadn't been for the video being made public.

Getting away with murder is not "justice being done."
