It's about global averages. The moisture content does increase and global greening has been a result.

 

I think the global greening issue has to do with CO2, not moisture.

Warming does increase the ability of the atmosphere to retain moisture. That's the root cause of the "lake effect" in the region east of the great lakes where there is more snowfall when winter temperatures are less frigid.

But, that doesn't mean that there is more precipitation everywhere.

The earlier balloons were not shielded from the sun, so daytime temperatures were recorded as higher. Thus when shielding improved the temperatures were cooler.

So, some suggested this meant Earth is cooling - but, that is clearly NOT the proper explanation. And, that was pointed out to you in your cite!!

But, surely you can also notice that there are different kinds of balloons and that balloons are only one kind of platform for measurement of temperature.

Temperatures are measured at various altitudes from surface to high atmosphere using various technologies. Besides that, there are a number of significant independent efforts to measure Earth's temperature at these various altitudes, not just one.

The result is that temperature data may be compared and cross checked.

That's why scientists working in this field are confident of the fact that Earth is warming.

The climate "scientists" are not scientists, they are frauds who fudge data, chase down tectonic events to discover "warming" caused by magma releases, they lie about why the Marshall Islands are sinking, they have lied for three decades about Antarctic ice growing, they fudged both satellites and balloon atmospheric data, they were hauled into a British court in 2007 and were found to be lying about both Antarctic ice and co2 vs "temps" in the past. There was no scientific basis to question the data. The data was accurate.

Interesting that deniers Christy and Spencer, who claim to be the foremost experts in satellite data, did not even know the correct sign to use to correct for Diurnal Satellite Drift.

Starting around 2001, the satellite data and methods of Dr. Christy and Dr. Spencer were re-examined by Carl A. Mears and Frank J. Wentz, scientists at Remote Sensing Systems, a company in Santa Rosa, Calif., that does satellite data analysis for NASA.

They and several other teams have since found more significant warming trends than the original estimate.

But the new paper, by Dr. Mears and Dr. Wentz, identifies a fresh error in the original calculations that, more firmly than ever, showed warming in the troposphere, particularly in the tropics.

The error, in a calculation used to adjust for the drift of the satellites, was disclosed to the University of Alabama scientists at one of the government-run meetings this year, Dr. Christy said.

 

Al Gore is not a scientist. Plus we've learned a lot over the last 20 years.

Whether Earth is warming and what is causing it is not a political issue. It is an issue of science.
