I am saddened by the fact that some of the people here have a dangerously distorted view of world events even as they unfold in real time. This is a tragedy that has been brought about by community newspapers, local radio programming, and liberal arts colleges. Media are important; they can be watchdogs keeping threats on freedom in check. But they can be perverted into convenient bullhorns for oppressive regimes that criminalize criticism as misinformation. The Nazis and the Communists used marshalled media to mesmerize public opinion and it works as well today as it did in past times. Harnessed authoritarian media are the historical hallmark of totalitarian governments since the beginning of human politics and this plays out even in small cities as media gaslights the population.

The people here are told by local media that Dr. Anthony Fauci is a hero fighting a dangerous virus that threatens civilization. Careful observers have concluded that Fauci used back channels to fund gain of function research even after he was ordered not to do so by the Obama administration. Administration scientists decided that the research was far too dangerous and could unleash uncontrolled pathogens exposing a defenseless world population to another 1918 Spanish Flu-like disaster which is exactly what happened. Fauci should have been dragged before a world court and charged with crimes against humanity, but that narrative runs counter to Washington’s “build back better” plan which is essentially a dismantling of the fundamental principles that created America.

First among those principles is free speech which is now being aggressively prosecuted by America’s security agencies and characterized as a terrorist threat. If this sounds familiar remember what you learned in school decades ago. SARS-Cov-19 has evolved into a political disease created and funded at first by sociopaths for fame and prestige. It got out of hand and is now a power play for absolute control while America suffers calculated destruction from the inside out economically, demographically, politically, and spiritually.

Your local media is betting on the corruption of Washington as the winning formula. They have no scientific training or background, yet they demand that you get vaccinated because those are their marching orders from Washington. That is the textbook definition of propaganda. Media can no longer be trusted to be forthright. No one has any idea of the future ramifications of these vaccinations. Do not trust media, trust yourself.

It is your sources that are either mistaken or malicious in nature. There is a problem inherent to the kind of mass communication that the internet enables, and it is that liars and cranks all have a voice that is more or less as loud as that of honest, trustworthy sources of news and information. It is more important than ever, therefore, that readers, listeners and viewers do their due diligence and do not allow themselves to be misled by the many liars and cranks out there.

Your claims are false. Free speech is in no way being "prosecuted" (did you mean persecuted?) by American security agencies, for instance. That is absurd, baseless claim on your part.

The news outlets themselves, confronted with evidence that most American citizens would sooner take candy from a stranger than get their news from one of the corporate behemoths, have gone into a kind of defensive coma about the credibility issue.

In November 1992, producers for the television news magazine Dateline NBC had a problem. They had a story all planned out about how unsafe General Motors’ trucks could be in an accident, and they needed some good footage of explosions and fire to spice up the segment.

and they admitted they were fake news

on November 11, 2001, William Safire wrote a column warning Americans about Saddam Hussein’s secret links to Al Qaeda. Seeking to forge a connection between the people who pulled off 9/11 and the people the Bush Administration really wanted to kill, Safire claimed that members of Saddam’s secret service had met with Al Qaeda operatives in Prague.

When the Czech government went public saying the meeting never happened, Safire wrote another column claiming the meeting had indeed happened, but in Kurdistan (where apparently they don’t have a subscription to the Times).

    More Lies

he New York Times media lies from September of 2002, the paper ran with a story on a UN International Atomic Energy Agency report claiming that Iraq was six months away from having a nuclear weapon. But, in fact, the report never even existed.

Most Americans don't trust the media to report the news fairly, fully and accurately.

They expect biases and political slants on the news.

    • 56% of Americans agree with the statement that "Journalists and reporters are purposely trying to mislead people by saying things they know are false or gross exaggerations."
    • 58% think that "most news organizations are more concerned with supporting an ideology or political position than with informing the public."

So Ray9, why should I believe you?
You are writing to a social media site, presenting no proof of your observations an AFAIK you are not in an "inner circle" position.
What is your opinion of fact-checking sites? Are they all a conspiracy too?

Do conspiracy theorists ever ask themselves what is probable and even what is possible in the real world? Reality may be boring but it is as inarguable as the arrow of time.

There has always been bias and slants in the media. Savvy readers know in advance what to expect and they factor it into the information. The problem comes when readers expect THEIR "truth" to be reflected and media becomes "misleading" when it isn't.
Truth has many faces. You will never know the truth until you know all of them.
Finally news organisations aren't interested in supporting a political position. They are interested in stirring the story and making a profit.

The big problem is that are a number of people who will believe a plumber in Ohio or a Chiropractor in Florida instead of the medical staff at the Mayo Clinic. These
are contrarians and internet trolls and fools. They are the same people who wail about the unknowns of a vaccine while at the same
time pumping themselves full of Diet Coke and processed foods with god knows what ingredients.

So sure, believe the Chiropractor, ignore the hundreds of infectious disease experts - believe the internet trolls .... but sign a waiver that hospital staff don't have to
treat you if you need ICU care.

I could find some respect for people who had doubts about ANY information they were getting, but those who disregard the entire staff of the CDC and
multiple University research papers but decide to believe some internet "doctor" instead, are just idiots.

The key word in your post was making a "profit". Ever since the media was "taken over" by corporate interests back in the mid-80's corporate profits became the primary focus. It's all about money folks.
