lax gun laws? Will you now cite the false "gun show loophole meme"?

unless you already have a concealed carry license, there is a waiting period between purchase and the ability to pick up the gun.

Then, again without a concealed carry license, you cannot transport a loaded gun in your vehicle.

To some, guns are real scary. Because those same folks who do not understand the 2A exists, they then believe that nobody should have a gun.

Why not step back and take a look at societal changes and the increase in school violence

when kids could be kids and scraps happened in playgrounds, the differences were settled. Now, we must rat out everyone and simply calling a kid "fat" is punishable

We have video games with extreme violence and parents buy those for the kids and let them play for hours. The kids become desensitized to violence and some think it ok

We applaud music that glorifies violence

the list can go on but years ago, guns were around and even sitting in cases with clear glass doors, unlocked and the ammo right there

is it the gun that is the issue or is it our woke policies that has changed society??????????

a little morality and stigma back into society might be a good thing; sadly, it's too late

I pity the people who are so afraid of their neighbors or their neighborhood that they feel the need to be armed when they go to bed. Or even when they’re going about their daily business.

Exactly, and while having the loaded gun next to their bed, they sleep better because they feel "protected" from the miniscule chance of a home invasion, while in reality they make their household less safe, because the gun could be used by a member of the household to harm themselves or others in a time of crisis. The Crumbleys found this out the hard way. Unfortunately, most gun advocates are not going to look at this lesson or learn from it.

The parents bought him the gun as an early Christmas present. The teen recorded videos the night before the shooting in which he talked about shooting and killing students the next day at Oxford High School.

His behavior was concerning enough that school officials called Crumbley's parents to the school for a meeting on Tuesday just a few hours before the shooting,
Ethan's teacher noticed a note on his desk that contained drawings of a semi-automatic handgun, a bullet and a person being shot twice with the phrases "the thoughts won't stop, help me," "blood everywhere," "my life is useless" and "the world is dead" written throughout, according to McDonald.

The parents were immediately summoned to a meeting, during which they were told they were required to get their son into counseling within 48 hours. The parents were asked to take the kid with them but they refused and left him at the school.

At that meeting, the parents were shown Ethan’s drawing showing him shooting people. The fact that any parent could read those words in the drawing, see the pictures he drew of killing people and also know that their son had access to the gun they gave him and not even ask if he has the gun with him or search his backpack is unbelievable.

Just a week earlier his teacher found Ethan searching for ammunition on his cell phone during class and reported it to higher-ups. Administrators left a voicemail for Jennifer Crumbley and followed up with an email, but received no response.

After receiving the voicemail from the school, His mother texted him saying, “Lol, I’m not mad at you. You have to learn not to get caught,”

I am a second amendment advocate and not a leftist but these idiotic parents need to held accountable.

Well, word has it that the idiot, trump supporting parents were found hiding in a warehouse instead of turning themselves in like their lying lawyers said.
More than likely to be held without bond.
Looks like Trump just lost three more votes in the swing state of Michigan.
    LOL!

I spent many years living in Third World cities. In one place I slept with a loaded 12-gauge shotgun within arm's reach of my bed.

It's amazing how preventable these things are found out to be after we learn a little bit about them.

Makes me wonder why nobody ever intervenes

That’s pretty funny! What is it like to be physically impervious to any and all crime? Is there a door to that room you’re living in?
The rest of us have to worry about crime, we must seem pathetic to be so mortal.

Maybe we can charge the idiot who purchased the AR 15 for Rittenhouse and brought him to the riot that night too. I agree that the DA and the Judge who released the guy who murdered those 6 people should be charged too. I do not think you could charge the mother for posting bond, however.

Most gun owners are not idiots like these two parents.
They bought the kid a gun, they made the gun accessible to him, they were called to the school over a drawing he made that day of killing people with his gun with the words,
"the thoughts won't stop, help me," "blood everywhere," "my life is useless" and "the world is dead"
and they never thought to ask him, you don't have the gun with you, do you, or search his backpack?

Never even entered their minds that he might have the gun with him?

There are plenty of quick release pistol safes that you can unlock in a second or two, either by reading your fingerprints, or having a passcode that works based on pressing certain keys and not pressing on others. There are no children in my house, so I don't have one, but if there were, I most certainly would.

The topic of this thread is people who make guns accessible to underage kids who then kill people with them. Rittenhouse case fits that profile.

For many, a self or home defense firearm is like an insurance policy. You hope you never need it. But if you do, it's there.

Absolute insanity. Do you have any idea how long it would take to unlock your gun, unlock your ammo, and lock and load your sidearm??? Meanwhile, the guy who just broke into your house in the middle of the night has free reign. No sir, no sir, no way no how am I going to store my firearms as you have suggested. The plan and hope is that I'll never to use it. But it's better to have it and not need it than the other way around.

Again, like in the Rittenhouse case, adults purchasing weapons for kids, then the kid goes off and kills others. When my kids were teenagers I spent a lot of money on Baseball and Hockey equipment. They had a great time, got college scholarships and didn’t kill anyone. I never even considered buying my kids a Glock or a semi automatic rifle with a 30 round clip.

In these times where a paranoid right wing gun culture has become part of “normal” daily life in the news and social media, adult morons are frequently supplying guns to kids and passing on their paranoid delusions to their kids instead of teaching them how to compete in sports, go to the beach, chase girls and have normal lives.

WTF are these parents thinking? They are teaching their children that half of the US population, (Leftists, Liberals, Progressives, Democrats) are their mortal enemies and should be confronted at every turn. Watching right wing news shows, listening to morons on AM radio and joining right wing websites are driving all of this hatred and the resulting bloodshed. I remember when every kid wanted to be like Michael Jordan, John Elway and Sammy Sosa. Half of today’s kids want to be like Kyle Rittenhouse and George Zimmerman....Pretty twisted in my book...

Not like Rittenhouse in the least. There is no comparison between the two.

I know this might come as a surprise to you but there is no right wing gun culture. Thats just your own personification of politics. Democrats own guns as well. Supporting the 2nd amendment doesn't make you a gun nut or part of some culture.

Again, you have allowed yourself to link guns with political views. Nobody is out hunting leftist, Liberals, Progressives, and Democrats. As a matter of fact, wasn't it a Bernie supporting Democrat that was out hunting Republicans?

If looters who want to riot and burn American businesses get shot in the process, that doesn't mean they are being hunted. It means they are criminals in cities where leftist Mayors refuse to allow police to stop the riots and Americans are fed up with it. If they want to attack Americans protecting their property with guns, then let the gene pool cleansing begin.

You stated Maybe we can charge the idiot who purchased the AR 15 for Rittenhouse.

So I asked you what are you going to charge him with?
    But I understand the deflection.

    1) Adult buys weapon for kid. Kid goes out and kills people....Pretty close comparison..

    2) In today’s world there is obviously a right wing gun culture. There has always been a bunch of these nuts living up in Idaho behind barbed wire fences in quanset huts with large ammo dumps but they were extreme outliers. Now it seems that the whole Trumpist movement are starting to drift closer and closer to these nuts as time goes by. They are taught that half the population is comprised of enemies of freedom and their mortal enemies from early youth. Sure, Democrats and other sane people own guns and support the Bill Of Rights but it really is not a big part of their lives.

    3) The guy who shot Steve Scalese was a total nut. However nothing in Bernie’s political speech or rhetoric suggested the use of violence against Republicans or conservatives in general.

    4) Looters, rioters and other criminals should be arrested, prosecuted and jailed. Members of both main parties and independents are all in agreement on that issue. And there you go with your whacky screed regarding “leftist Mayors” who are to blame for these riots. As a result of that kind of bullshit Trumpist rhetoric being spewed over your media, Mayors, Senators, Governors, Secretary of States all across America are receiving death threats for not supporting Trump, not rigging the election for him or daring to support Un Trumpy legislation. As the Georgi Secretary of State about that.

The DA made that clear yesterday, and as more facts come in(rather than reports), I find myself conflicted with this. Could better decisions have been made? Yes. But does that show intent? Absolutely not. So here's the key question: Is the DA charging as a violation of law, or is she charging for vengeance? Because those are two entirely different things.

Our system of law is supposed to be one in which defendants have a jury of their peers, the evidence is heard and the case is deliberated fairly and neutrally. In her emotionally charged media statements, she might have already tainted the case from an emotional point of view.

In general, what we're seeing is a true, real departure from our norms where courts are now used not merely to deliberate cases but now to effectively punish those whom we seek to punish. The guilty, yes should be sentenced appropriately but when those who are doing the punishing have an emotional investment in it, that''s not a fair trial(to me)

As hard of a requirement as this is to fulfill(especially in a case like this), I truly believe courts must be devoid of emotion. And it reminds me that I don't think prosecutors aid justice, prosecutors aid incarceration.

I am not going to charge him with anything, never said I would or could. However I think it is a good sign that the idiot parents who thought it was a swell idea to by a semi automatic pistol for their kid are being charged with manslaughter and may very well end up in prison. Maybe adults who are thinking about buying weapons for kids like the guy who bought that kool looking AR 15 for little Kyle will think twice now before furnishing deadly weapons to kids.
