The US has said it would send reinforcements to Nato’s eastern flank in response to a Russian invasion of Ukraine, as well as imposing severe new economic measures, in a warning to Moscow on the eve of talks between Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin.

Biden will also make clear to Putin that the US will not rule out future Ukrainian membership of Nato, as the Russian leader has demanded, a senior US official said.

With an estimated 100,000 Russian troops already gathered within striking distance of the borders, the crisis is at its worst since 2015, when Moscow staged a large-scale incursion into Ukraine, clandestinely sending tanks and artillery to encircle Ukrainian troops and compelling Kyiv to sign a peace agreement in Minsk that has since come close to collapse.

There is nothing in Ukraine that is worth the life of one of our armed service members.

Biden should repeal the Russian pipeline because of Putins actions.

In saner times, I would not worry much about this but with Brandon in the White House anything can happen.

Brandon's diplomacy and military decisions haven't gone well.

I think it’s time to face a few realities for all sides of the conflict:
Russia has a strong argument about mid-range missiles that, if placed in eastern Ukraine, can strip russians of their feeling of safety.
Instead of seeking membership in NATO, Ukraine should take the course towards armed neutrality. Everyone needs to understand that Americans will not be dying for Ukrainians. It’s not because there is something wrong with Ukrainians themselves, it’s just that there are serious doubts about Americans willingly dying for quite a few other members of NATO, and Ukraine probably won’t make high ranks in there.
I think all three should sit down at one table and come up with agreement favorable to all - Ukraine rejects nato aspirations, but gets to buy any western weapons at discount without russian objections and gets to give trading preferences to western countries. Americans keep their mid-range missiles in Germany at closest point. Russians get their feeling of safety back and leave their neighbors alone.
I am originally from Ukraine, by the way. ;)

Good post. The problem is Putin is at the peak of his game and Biden is an empty husk of a leader.

A really stupid move to threaten sending troops.
Putin will do whatever he wants, just like in Crimea

    The troops are all volunteers.

The US loves war trophies so if the shooting starts it will get lots of White Ukrainians to flood into places like Chicago and displace the Blacks there.

To be honest I tend to like Biden’s foreign policy moves excluding the Afghanistan pull out. I support this move as well. In fact I strongly support keeping Ukrainian free from Russian control. Ukrainian pipelines are a lifeline for European natural gas.

7C9DD1E1-CFEA-4D17-B915-F6C99E35185E.png As you can see from this picture it’s obvious why Russia wants to control Ukraine. Obama was weak and gave Russia control of their Crimea peninsula. It looks to me like Biden doesn’t want to make that same mistake.

One of the very few times I’m going to have to disagree with you.

    Biden gave Russia the pipeline.

This increases their influence into western Europe while funding the modernization of Russias military.

Don’t get too excited. I tend to believe someone other than him is making the calls. Mostly because I’m truly surprised how much I agree with his foreign policies. But secondly because he can’t answer questions from reporters without getting in trouble so I believe these decisions are beyond his cognitive ability.

Cheap energy for Europe means more money they have to buy our traded goods. I’m pro free market on this one. Their military will be large with or without that pipeline. They alter the price for that anyway.

Of course at one point Hunter Biden was getting a million per month from a Ukraine energy company. Wonder how much of that money went to the "big man", i.e. draft dodging Joe Biden. The athlete that suddenly developed asthma when it came time to personally participate in a war.

I don't disagree which is why Europe's love affair with wind energy is so dumb.

They are burning coal right now.

    Well, your question was:
Now you know. During Trump russians didn’t have the pipe, but during Biden they do.

And a controversial view would be that it's still true. The contested expanded war zones only led to the deadliest conflict in all of human history. We of course feel justified about it now because we won and we acknowledge the Nazis to be evil incarnate, but in any other circumstance is that price worth it?

Earlier in the year Putin was talking about how sharp and wise Biden was.

    He was literally trolling Brandon.

It's pretty clear Putin does not respect Brandon. Plus he knows Biden can be bought.
