Yes, yes.... this is very important stuff. Great diversion from the greatest illegal alien invasion in American history, the massive Russian troop buildup on the Ukraine border, massive energy price rises and inflation that have impoverished more American people in the shortest amount of time in our lifetime, the largest increase in violent crime in American history, mobs looting out stores without consequence, the signals China is sending that it intends to have Taiwan in the next few years and the clear evidence that America funded the Covid virus. We must concentrate on the "insurrection", that certainly won't increase divisions within our own country and weaken it further.

This is why we need more Democrats in charge. They concentrate on the issues that really matter to ordinary Americans. They really really care.

    Guess again....

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/attorney-says-meadows-wont-cooperate-151738382.html

It is sort of interesting to watch their obviously coordinated strategies play out, finding out which works best

    Bannon - Zero cooperation
Clark - Show up and say nothing, then take the 5th on threat of contempt
    Eastman - Straight 5th
Meadows - Pretend cooperation, then back out

    It's the GOP Hokey Pokey

You put your right hand in
You put your right hand out
You put your right hand in
And you shake it all about
You do the Hokey Pokey and you delay and lie when delay is no longer possible
    That`s what it`s all about!

Former Trump chief of staff Meadows says he is no longer cooperating with Jan. 6 committee

Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows said Tuesday he will no longer cooperate with the House select committee's probe into the Jan. 6 riot. In an interview on streaming news network Real America's Voice, Meadows said the committee intended to ask about items that he considers protected by executive privilege.

Yep Meadows had reached an agreement of cooperating and the Dems violated it in the questions they were submitting.

Mark Meadows won't cooperate with Jan. 6 panel, attorney says

"Attorney George Terwilliger said in a letter Tuesday that a deposition would be "untenable" because the Jan. 6 panel "has no intention of respecting boundaries" concerning questions that former President Donald Trump has claimed are off-limits because of executive privilege. Terwilliger also said that he learned over the weekend that the committee had issued a subpoena to a third-party communications provider that he said would include "intensely personal" information.

Terwilliger said in a statement last week that he was continuing to work with the committee and its staff on a potential accommodation that would not require Meadows to waive the executive privileges claimed by Trump or "forfeit the long-standing position that senior White House aides cannot be compelled to testify" before Congress.

"We appreciate the Select Committee’s openness to receiving voluntary responses on non-privileged topics," he said then....

    ...
In halting cooperation, Terwilliger also cited comments from Thompson that he said unfairly cast aspersions on witnesses who invoke their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. A separate witness, former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark, has said he will invoke those Fifth Amendment rights.

"As a result of careful and deliberate consideration of these factors, we now must decline the opportunity to appear voluntarily for a deposition," Terwilliger wrote in the letter.

This may have already been answered. I didn't read all 32 pages of responses so, my apologies, if this is a repeat.

Trump tweeted to his supporters to be at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, writing "It's going to be wild.". That isn't a smoking gun but he wanted his most staunch supporters there and he and Guiliani amped them up with "trial by combat" and other *hints* toward overrunning the Capitol and *making* Pence do the "right thing" (he actually did the right thing by keeping his oath of office and certifying the votes. It's unclear if Trump actually knew that Pence didn't have the authority to stop the certification or if he just spun it that way to his worked up supporters. I'd lean toward him not knowing because he's generally ignorant on any topic).

It was also reported that Pelosi and Pence called him several times to plead with him to call in the National Guard and he refused. At some point, instead of waiting for him to take action, Pence called in the NG for reinforcements.

Further, during the melee, both Trump and Guiliani misdialed Senator Mike Lee to coerce him to stop the certification. At that point, the Senator was inside an office with the door barricaded and law enforcement was working to everyone to safety while others covered the front in an effort to stop the rioters from breaching the building.

It was also reported that many people pleaded with Trump to ask the rioters to back off and he initially would not do it. His first communication via Twitter was to tell them "we love you all.". He was only focused on enjoying all of it on television as it unfolded which clearly illustrates his priority was NOT the safety of our leaders or Capitol police officers. To date, he has never acknowledged the Capitol police officers that lost their lives or were injured at that riot, again giving us a clear picture of where his mindset is - where it always is - only on himself.

Later, some attorneys wrote a speech and basically forced him to read it. It was obvious that he didn't believe anything he was saying and resented having to read it. The sole purpose was to distance him from what happened at the Capitol. Then, even later than that, he claimed that he requested 10,000 National Guardsmen and it was denied. Law enforcement stated they had no such request. However, that claim, in itself, does lend to the idea that he anticipated violence. It's not enough to bring him up on charges for his role and actions but it should give some of his supporters pause in the veracity of his statements about what really went down that day. I also find it noteworthy that many of his supporters have no issues about Cheney becoming person non grata for not being willing to play in his fantasy world.

He has quite a bit of blood on his hands and they are more than willing to pretend that it's all reasonable and justifiable. It's not...not even a little bit. I remain hopeful. He may not ever face arrest and prosecution but he will go down in our history as the biggest traitor our country has ever known.

The President can't snap his finger and order in the National Guard, there is a STRICT process to have NG troops on the street. Request by various officials, not Pelosi and Pence, forms to be filled and signed off by local and federal officials, then the troops must be called in to get armed and mounted and then they can deploy. The offer for those troops had been turned down by Capital and local officials. If this commission wants to investigate why there weren't more NG troops there then they to look internally NOT at the White House.

That's horseshit...He shows, answers the questions he feels he can (99% of them in the context of EP), and challenge those he feels he cannot.

Anything else is criminal contempt of Congress, as I assume he will shortly learn.

In his case, you cannot publish a ****ing book on the topics in question, then refuse to testify about the same.

Chairman Thompson sent Meadows + lawyer a letter saying the vote is coming today (no link... live reporting)...

Meadows will be #2 referred for criminal contempt.... Harder case for the DOJ to charge, but I suspect they will... .the guy released a book talking about January 6th, but he's going to claim global EP?? Funny stuff there...

So the committee can negotiate in bad faith and then blame it on Meadows? He and his attorney had told them they would answer questions for inqueiry into legislative purposes, the ONLY reason they can issue a subpoena and not in violation of EP. He was set and then they sent the list of deposition questions and it was clear they are unconstitutionally trying to conduct a criminal investigation AND violating EP.

    Take it to court.

There was no uprising, no attempted insurrection. Just a mostly peaceful protest that a cop killed someone in unlawfully.

Witnesses don't get to tell Congressional committees what format of questions they will answer.

Which is why the committee will vote soonest on his obvious contempt.

Another T**** mobster ... And this guy was one of them at some point. Somebody who sneered at people who avoided Congressional subpoena's in 2015...

Even Nixon might be blushing by now...

I'd say unbelievable, but there is no such thing anymore..

He'll lose, like Nixon did and T**** will.... but it will eat more time..

The committee has to shoulder some of the blame, by not issuing these subpoenas when first formed....

    Not rewriting history at all.

The vast majority of people there simply walked around peacefully taking pictures.

It was a mostly peaceful protest, and an officer murdered someone in cold blood.

My version is the objectively true version.

Most people stood around, chanted, took pictures, and were non violent.

It was a mostly peaceful protest and your pictures dont prove me wrong.

There is nothing wrong at all it's called separation of powers under our Constitution and an abuse of power by the Congress. He had agreed to testify as to any legislative matters, that was the deal. The Dems reneged in their preliminary submission of questions for his deposition. As I have noted they are trying to engage in a CRIMINAL investigation and they have no authority to do so nor can they use their power of subpoena to investigate crimes are "fact finding"

".....Meadows turned over thousands of documents to the committee last week and planned to sit down with lawmakers this week. Meadows' attorney George Terwilliger sent a letter to the committee explaining he would not sit down for a deposition and accused lawmakers of overstepping their constitutional bounds.

"It is well-established that Congress's subpoena authority is limited to the pursuit of a legitimate legislative purpose. Congress has no authority to conduct law enforcement investigations or free-standing "fact-finding" missions," Terwilliger wrote."

Terwilliger told the committee it was clear that the committee "has no intention of respecting boundaries concerning Executive Privilege." He also cited the fact that the committee subpoenaed information from a "third-party communications provider without regard to either the broad breadth of the information sought, which would include intensely personal communications of no moment to any legitimate matters of interest to the Select Committee."

"Yet again, with the breadth of its subpoenas and its pugnacious approach, the Select Committee has made clear that it does not intend to respect these important constitutional limits," the letter continues.
    https://wbznewsradio.iheart.com/con...ting-with-january-6th-house-select-committee/

As I have previously cited from SCOTUS decisions Terwilliger is correct.
