I think that tree is made of the standard artificial tree/garland type material. A plastic type material. Usually when you look at Christmas trees they advertise "flame retardant" and I am guessing this one is made from the same material. When you watch the video you can see that only 1/2 the tree is on fire. They also report that the suspect climb to the top first. This suggest to me that he dumped some type of fuel on the tree and set that on fire. Most of the flames are from the burning fuel. Once it gets hot enough the plastic probably melts and burns too.

Dude, I grew up in Fort Lee, NJ one half mile from the George Washington Bridge. NYC has a lot going for it, but not only are my friends and family saying the horrors of NYC are bleeding over into Fort Lee, but now much of Wall St wants to relocate to Florida because of the high taxes and crime. Yeah, the Italian food, dirty water dogs and bagels are great, but crime is out of control. Start reading the NY Post.
