Are you? That's debatable. I'm an American born and raised in this country and old enough to know it from every aspect.- and you certainly are not an American.

"I see you haven't figured it out yet"...(?) OK, have it your way. I stand by my earlier comments, nonetheless, even if they don't probe to quite the 'depth-and-breadth' you may have been looking for.... Das spielte keine rolle, na und?

But, what's to "figure out"? Sure, me and millions of others like me are "taxpayers", and there's not a hell of a lot we can do about that.

There's nothing new about the 'military-industrial complex', either. You can easily go back as far as the Great Depression and see clearly with FDR's and Churchill's collusion to deliberately antagonize Japan, provoking the Pearl Harbor attack that got us into Churchill's European war, that one very beneficial side-effect was that American military prime contractors made immense fortunes which floated our whole economy for over twenty years after we won WWII.... And, it got Roosevelt safely and finally out of said Great Depression after it was obvious that none of his socialistic welfare-state creations could 'do the trick'. 8)

But, I digress. Besides, I'm a hypocrite. I made handsome careers in two Fortune 50 Prime Contractors to the Federal Government, and now am very happily retired. So, I don't hate the military-industrial complex, per se... but I do wish that it, they, or whatever, could find some overall goal that would result in something like VICTORY for us, TODAY -- the United States of America. WE are who I care about most, and I'm not a bit ashamed to say that. But, very honestly, I don't see the probability of anything like 'victory' for us coming out of some new adventure in Ukraine....

Afterthought: Maybe we should go pick on China instead...?

Yes. Part of the problem (our little problem) is deciding how much to say, how to say it, how much will be understood, and how much are we will to risk by saying it.

At end of the day .. can say what one likes - unless of course one is in a position of power - and even then speaking up is allowed .. to a point. Is it any secret that our system of Healthcare extortion is a 3.5 Trillion dollar (2018) a year gravy train - double what other First world nations pay for equivalent service - into the pockets of the HC and Insurance Oligopolies .. price fixing .anti competitive practices .. all the things we love made this a reality.

Do we not hear lone voices in Congress calling this out quite often ... of course we do .. Everyone then turns and points to that lone voice and says "LOOK LOOK - we have freedom of Speech in this Nation - what a good system we have" .. that lone voice is then quickly drowned out by the cacophony on the take .. which win the day in our pay to play democratic system .. as most choose to play.

Would you be the one that runs against herd of stampeding Bulls ? .. the one that Shoots the Golden egg laying Goose ? knowing what happened to the previous folks who tried it .?. well .. good for you if you are the Hero of the Story !.. but in this story the Hero gets Trampled. .. every time :)

How do you figure? I do know you're a sycophant of Vladimir Putin and a religious bigot (beholden to the Eastern Orthodox Catholic Church).

I never claimed that. And if you want to intercept ballistic missiles launched from Iran toward Europe where are you supposed to base them?

There is no such thing as an Eastern Orthodox Catholic Church, so I don't know what you're trying to pull.

You're not an American because your affinities lie elsewhere. If they didn't, you wouldn't be so accepting of our government's actions and the control the neo liberal/cons have over it - which seem to be more in tune to Nazi Germany than the sentiments of the American people.

Hopefully this upcoming chat between Biden and Putler will dissuade Putler from taking things too far. I would hate to see him use chemical weapons on the Ukrainians and try to blame that on us.

When you equate the U.S. to Nazi Germany you've lost all claim to credibility here or anywhere else.

C'mon guys... Dayton says he lives in a town in Arkansas, and Jeannette said a long time ago that she lives somewhere here in the States, so let's just accept that and go on. What the hell... even if Jeannette lived in Moscow, or Dayton didn't live in Arkansas, WHAT DIFFERENCE WOULD IT MAKE? . :juggle:

If you're so inclined, you can idolize anybody you wish, no matter where you live. The important thing here in the Forum is to be as accurate as possible, and, to be able to prove your assertions if you are challenged by another poster to do so. Otherwise, everything we say is merely 'vaporware', bullshit, and air-bubbles'....

I have written things that might make someone think that I admire Sergey Shoigu -- and I do -- even knowing full-well that if it was even momentarily useful to Russia's national interest, the man would pull a pistol and blow my brains out without any hesitation. The point? You have to be able to appreciate your adversary, his attributes, and his capabilities, and never, ever underestimate him....

Actually, the Orthodox Catholic Church (or, Eastern Orthodox Church) is definitely Christian (not "heathen"), and traces its origins as far back as the Roman Catholic Church itself! It is, in fact, the second-largest Christian denomination, with over 220 million baptized members.

Can all of us get past this now? If Sergey Shoigu were reading this now, he'd be laughing at us....

If our illegal military actions in Serbia, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Ukraine and our regime change actions everywhere have made us a predator nation, then what difference with Nazi Germany?

The U.S. has never committed an "illegal military action".

That's quite a profound observation. It seems to me that it goes hand in hand with the whole pseudo-Democratic two-party system and is supported (enforced) by the hoax philosophy of "With us or against us" and "Love it or leave it", forever the two-choice extremes that leave no room for freedom of thought or expression.

Julian Assange ...... Edward Snowden ..... Jane Fonda ....

I think the Holocaust has (for good or bad) been PR'd so intensively that Americans equate or restrict Nazism with that event alone. They don't see Nazism in its entirety. You are absolutely right. The long list of illegal military actions by the US all around the world is just as much an indication of Nazism as the Holocaust. So yes, "what difference with Nazi Germany?"

Yes, the UN can enlighten him. It'll be a very long list starting with Iran in 1954.
