So, today, CTU voted to cancel classes because of omicron. They continue to ruin their students future by interfering with normal learning process.
It boggles my mind that there are so many residents out there who support this absurdity! Thousands of people in Chicago won’t show up to work because of the actions of the CTU.

You know, as a person taking care of a small child, I would rather know if school is canceled or not, or if kids are likely to get omicron.

The Chicago Teachers Union just doesn't want to work. They have made that clear.

The CEO of Schools told them today, no work in person, no pay.

    Good for him and Lightfoot.

I’ve heard rumors that they quietly want to have an option to work remotely. Like many office employees. Maybe they want to live in a red state and teach CRT racism to Chicago’s kids. :roflol:

Responsible parents know educating their kids themselves at home beats government schools altogether. And the kids turn out like normal human beings. How strange!

Well, they have it good right now.

"It's really unfortunate that they want to pick on us because they want their babysitters back," teacher Lisa Brizendine was caught saying, when a microphone was unintentionally left on after a conference call at Oakley Union Elementary School in Los Angeles.

At several other schools that had teacher shortages, they decided to let teachers keep working from home on Fridays, as a perk they hoped would prevent fewer teaches from deciding to quit. That still leaves unhappy parents having to look for someone to take care of their child on Friday.

So much stuff to unpack from all this ...

    1) These teachers are idiots. These are all Dems - have they not learned how safe it is out there from their goddess AOC? She dances maskless with random guys she's cheating with in Florida, it's safe out there now.

    2) "The corrupt Chicago teachers union again crushes children — " Well, I'd say calling anything in Chicago "corrupt" is redundant. It's ALL corrupt.

    3) "A strike is a strike. Parents didn’t enroll their children in online classes. These teachers have abandoned their jobs. They should all be fired." Can't argue with that one.

    4) "Fire them all. Hire subs, have qualified parents step in. Whatever it takes to make them pay for continuing to harm kids." Yeah, ain't gonna happen. There's ALREADY an INSANELY HUGE teacher shortage out there - and an even MORE insanely huge sub shortage. Qualified parents - in CHICAGO?!? a-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!! Look HERE. Said parent needs a Bachelor's degree in anything. Maaaan, how many parents in Chicago can even read? Good news though - they don't need to pass a criminal check. Might be the only way anyone gets hired in the Chicago School District! BUT they do need to get fingerprinted - uh-oh!

    5) Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, D., threatened to withhold the pay of teachers who don't show up to teach. Well, while that dwarf is doing the right thing here, hoooo-boy - a Dem standing up to a Chicago Union? I guess what I'm saying is don't be surprised if a horse's head winds up in her bed. Or if she ends up buried next to Jimmy Hoffa. Now THIS part interests me - I can't wait to see the drama that results from this one!

There are families out there that need both parents to work to afford raising their child in a safe neighborhood.

Teachers are preventing parents from ability to hold a stable full time job, which will impact local income and crime.
Public sector unions must be banned! They are starting to sabotage normal function of their local government.

Yeah, well we all have to suck it up with inflation and disease being rampant. We had it better under Trump.

Unless the district will wholeheartedly support and enforce every recommendation by the CDC and the APA ( not just the ones parents like), I would not be complicit in a process that might aide to deaths of kids, and their grandparents. I simply would refuse to hold class under unsafe conditions because that is my ethical duty.

I would not teach a class under a dangerous and unstable roof either, whatever the school district said.

There are schools in other states that don’t even have mask mandates and they are doing fine!

Heard Hannity today citing some bullshit figure like 'only 0.001% of kids can catch COVID'.

So you've got the left wing clowns who think every kid will die if they have to go to school and you've got the right wing clowns who think kids are flat out immune. Pack of damn idiots, the lot them.

These teachers don't seem to have much confidence that the Covid vaccinations work.

Interesting thing from the article HERE:

Seriously? That dwarf needs at least three booster chairs to reach her desk and she's locking teachers outta their Google Classrooms? Yeah, I kinda don't think so. That Munchkin doesn't even know how to run a lemonaid stand much less Chicago, she sure as heck ain't tech support. The Union is - well, let's be kind and say they're living in Fantasyland. My district office internet could go completely down and I can still get into MY Google Classroom assuming I'm at home. Heck, I could get on my cell phone and still log into my GC account.

    Really?
    According to who or what?

Biden received over 82% of the Vote in Chicago in 2020.

Joe Biden overwhelmingly won Chicago, as expected —
Biden won Chicago with more than 82 percent of the vote

    https://blockclubchicago.org/2020/1...ard-voted-for-president-trump-over-joe-biden/

Thus, a number of Chicago Voters (more than 17% but less than 18%) voted for someone OTHER than Biden in 2020.

Given that FACT, how would one deduce that ALL Chicago Teachers are Dems?
    ^Epically Failed Attempt at a "cutesy" reference.:bored:

    Once again:

Because Union Membership, much less membership in a TEACHER'S union will have an even HIGHER concentration of Democrats. Finding a Republican teacher Union member IN CHICAGO is like finding a Unicorn driving a Prius that wears pink latex. Yeah, they're all Dems there.

    ^ Prove me wrong.

I don’t know what Google classroom is, but if it’s like Google docs then an owner of a document can control access to it.
I’m surprised they rely on googles services. I always recommend all business owners to get a paid professional subscription for shared services or even develop their own. Chicago public schools are like a money black hole - any funds that cross the event horizon of that black hole will never see the light of day.

Here in Florida the law prohibits protecting teachers from Covid, so thousands of teachers are calling in sick to avoid the virus.
