The Democratic Party blasted the idea that parents should have a voice in what public schools teach, saying in a Facebook post over the weekend that public education teaches kids what society "needs them to know."

A Saturday post made by the MichiganDemocrats on their official Facebook page criticized the parents who want to play a role in what public education teaches their children. The post was deleted Monday morning after intense criticism.

"Not sure where this ‘parents-should-control-what-is-taught-in-schools-because-they-are-our-kids’ is originating, but parents do have the option to send their kids to a hand-selected private school at their own expense if this is what they desire," the post read.

"The purpose of public education in public schools is not to teach kids only what parents want them to be taught," the Michigan Democratic Party’s post continued. "It is to teach them what society needs them to know. The client of the public school is not the parent, but the entire community, the public."

ust wow! When will they ever learn? It is sheer political folly to play games with the parents rights and choices in their children’s education. Yet they learn nothing after Virginia and can me back for more. Parents should insist upon our rights to have a major input into our children’s education.

If democrats want to hand education of our kids on a platter to the GOP, they can keep doing stuff like this.

If parents want to teach their kids what they want them to know, then they can quit their job and do just that.

Is that an agreement with the Michigan's DNC belief that parents should have no say in their child's education?

Here’s one that endorses the idea of government raising kids. The epitome of what’s wrong with modern society. Government fixes everything, doesn’t it?

I'll take that as a yes.

Good. You keep this type of belief going strong. And say it loud for everyone to hear. Be sure to write your reps enjoining them to do the same.

Thank God the youth, who by far are the majority, are not conservative.

Tell that to Nick Sandmann. Or the students he was with. There are more conservative children that what your post portrays.

They are certainly getting more conservative every year as our generation is very liberal. So they are rebelling. Thank god, or we would have future generations of idiots.

Dude... zero chance you'll ever get that to happen.... but good try...

On topic, much as I agreed with EXACTLY what Terry McAuliffe said (which was generally misrepresented by the T****ers), I find absolutely nothing wrong with the post in question in the OP...

It doesn't really even question the parent role in determining what is taught in public schools...

This is even DUMBER than attacking what McAuliffe said, which was at least open to an incorrect interpretation...

More raw beef for the Idiocracy....

Dems want children to be thought what to think, not joe to think. Their ideology falls apart under a critics thinkers lens. So ofcourse they want to control it.

And democrats in Virginia didn’t get the message as they are opposing parents choice as to whether their children have to wear useless face diapers at school or not.

And these ridiculous school board decisions only shows the growing number of conservatives in our school systems.

Or they can go to school board meetings and demand input. The number of students being home schooled is rapidly growing as are the number of charter and private school students.

You mean in blue areas where parents want to override the wishes of parents of other students at the school?
