no, I nor anyone else "gets it"

Your Democrat party has taught us that not voting for a woman or a black person has nothing to do with their qualifications but everything to do with race/sex

    own it

what is so rude about the term "your" prefacing the party for which one voted and supports?

If you feel that voting Democrat is rude then why not do something about it? I cannot change which political party you support; only you can.

and you are correct that all democratic (small d as it's an an adjective, not a noun) voters are not monolithic. As for Democrat voters, I beg to differ with you,.

I was in a hurry. I meant the last time a sitting President failed to get the nomination of his party was 1868, when no one wanted Andrew Johnson.
I can't believe the Republicans were dumb enough to nominate Hoover again in 1932.
Taft overcame the most formidable opponent alive in 1912.
Even Carter should have had more trouble with his primary opponents.
In the last 2 cases the delegates made the better choice.

So if Biden retires this year there is plenty of time for her to make things better or worse before the primaries, getting one pathetic opponent and one good one.

If he retires in the summer of 2023 (which I think has been the plan all along) she could get 2 additional terms.
There might be one pathetic opponent, but she might have more than one good opponent. Every week Biden remains in office might change the occasion.
I'd say, September 19 will keep the most likely winning rival out of the race.

If Biden is still in office he has to announce whether he's retiring or not by summer. If he tries for 2 only a fool and a jerk will challenge (Kucinich and Steyer maybe).

Then if she takes over with the race in progress only one other challenger might appear. So many of them are retirement age it could be any of 20 people, but not several of them.

If Biden simply announces that he is not running again she is in a crowd and one of the weaker links.

The Democrats are going to be absolutely annihilated in 2022. Civiqs, Gallup and other polls indicate that the Democrats have lost enormous ground to the Republicans, and Biden's unpopularity has driven voters to the Republican Party. Gallups 47-42 percent lead for Republicans is a historical shift just like the Rasmussen mimicking CNBC, Insider Advantage, Rasmussen and the Wall Street Journal data. 538 isn't even giving weight to the D polls anymore, because their changing methods are useless and illegitimate. Republicans are closing in on the 50% mark nationally, and polls indicate that they may lose 50-75% of anyone leftover. These A-Holes may even lose CT, NH and ME.

    Got it.
Speaking of Carter, that was a textbook example of somebody (Ted Kennedy) jumping into the race based on polling (and, then falling flat).
    The Roger Mudd Interview, Etc..

The closest that anybody came (in the last 50 years) to unseating an Incumbent for the Nomination was Reagan (who took Ford all the way to the Convention in 1976).

Of course, in Reagan's case it worked out perfectly (by the time that 1980 rolled around).

Reagan was obviously planning to run in 1976 since 1968. When Ford took over in 74 it became a question of etiquette. Back then everyone agreed that 69 was too old to start a first term as President so it was 76 or never.
Kennedy and Brown were doing very bad etiquette especially when you consider how young they were (48 and 42).
How many Democrats care about etiquette now?

In 2008 I voted for Biden, hoping the other guy would let him run the country.
How many of those 76 million premeditated voters voted for Biden and how many for the running mate?

Biden may have to appoint her to the Supreme Court.

It would not fare well with black females though.

Reports out of Breitbart that Harris staff want her out of the office and making speeches across the nation.

I think they just want her out of the office.

    It's a dual edged sword.

She may be able to distance herself from Biden and try to save her low popularity.

But this also increase the odds of her slipping up with the media and even just citizens.

It's tough days ahead with now 2 border crisises, increasing supply chain shortages, record violent crime and gas prices, rising inflation, leaked documents on Bidens handling of Afghanistan, Biden giving billion to Iran, a likely conflict.with Russia, and more.
