I do follow tennis and I'm not in the slightest bit put off by not having Djokovic there.
I look forward to him not being at the French Open or Wimbledon either.
I absolutely hate to see different standards applied to anyone due to their status and wealth.

Okay fine, would you tune out if he were allowed to play?
As far as the different standards, that bullshit and you know it. The celebrities DO get treated differently whether we like it or not - and they get treated differently precisely because it make cents (pun intended...) to do so.

The bottom line is that is is possible to ensure Novak is disease free and poses no risk to public health. This is something they could have done, yes? Sure it would have been an exception but it would have been better for tennis and better for Australia. Was it not warranted in this case? I'm not in marketing so I can't fathom the difference in advert prices with Novak in vs not but I remain convinced (and if I'm wrong, please show me and I will concede) one is much larger than the other. Certainly some of that money would have filtered into Aussie coffers. So, it seems to me not letting him compete is the definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
One more thing, if the number of people tuning in is much higher with Novak in, it stands to reason that tennis would get a bump in fans that follow the game in general. What a win it would have been for the sport, but alas we have politics and stupid politicians.

Say what you like about the Aussies but they do know how to return a Serb.

when it comes to people's HEALTH............ the standards must be the same for everyone. No one is happy living during a pandemic........but there are rules that must be followed.........by everyone. A pandemic is the great "equalizer"..

Australia did good. And if Novak does not get vaccinated.......France and other places will do the same. It is his choice..........what is more important ?? Making a anti Vax statement or his tennis career.?? It is arrogant and selfish of him to think that he can have both. And misguided thinking buy those that support his position. A pandemic is much bigger than he is or they are.

You don’t “get it” do you? We are a fiercely egalitarian society, or at least that is the way we like to think of ourselves. We even have a common saying “fair go” which means to be fair to all.

The fact that we have not yet reached true equality for all is is not a national shame because we are trying to get there.

You have concentration camps you put unvaccinated folks in. It's like watching Nazi Germany in real time. There's nothing "egalitarian" about you folks.

Moral of the story?? You don't have control of your own body in Australia. And, well, medical informed consent is a thing of the past with all these new authoritarian measures by authoritarian regimes.

    Djocovic was not a migrant.
He was a visitor who lied on his visa application form.
What do you have against border control?

Since when does a visa application mean anything? He is a migrant.

Don't be daft. You absolutely CAN confirm a single person is not a threat to public health. The only question is if it is warranted in this case.

I get it just fine. This really doesn't have much to do with "fair". I'm sure if Australia could individually ensure everyone was virus free upon entry they would but of course that's not feasible. I'm sure everyone who stands to make less money is impressed by your countries silly egalitarianism.

So folks don't go to camps? You know there's video of them, right? Including the treatment of the folks in them. I know $5K isn't the same in australia as it is in the us, but it's still a lot to fine someone for for going over the yellow line. It's like watching Hogan's heroes just without being funny....

This is what happens when people strive to know about other countries and ignore what's happening in their own. It's the DNC dream they have been hoping for, happy sheeps :)

What makes you think I don't like migrants?
It's rule breaking, anti-vax, sportsmen who think they should get exemptions on a temporary work visa because they're good at hitting a tennis ball that I don't like.

It is common knowledge, that one can catch what ever disease one is vaccinated against. A vaccine does not prevent catching a disease, a vaccine changes the outcome. The spreading, most of the viruses a vaccinated spreads are already damaged by the vaccine.

Apparently you do not understand how vaccines work.
You should keep up, at least try.
