Trump also blamed the violence and terrorism on the so-called "stolen election".

You may be aware that the UK is trying to do that at this very minute??
The Prime Minister is hanging on by his latest lie.
It takes a percentage of the governing party population...in this case 54, MP's to write letters of no confidence in the Prime Minister.
Once that is achieved, the party votes and by that time s/he is almost always out. They can then vote in another party member (what usually happens) or hold a general election.
The current PM is now the third from the Tory party, after the last one as hoisted into position by this method and then held a GE. Given the opposition, Jack the Scarecrow would have won.
    We live in interesting times.

Perhaps instead of blaming "the other" for something you suspect and/or don't like, can we first define terms, because I know that Crank is confused about left and right.

Do we agree that the generic right wants less centralised state control and more individual "stand on your own two feet" polices?
If that is the case, then the opposite/left/socialism is MORE centralised control which decides who gets what state support.

IMO any decision to move somewhere to find work is a PERSONAL decision and very little if anything to do with state economic policies. The rich, the poor and the middle earners ALL move to find a better life, however they define it.
Communities ebb and flow. People ebb and flow. There are comparatively very few in a western state who stay in the same job in the same community for generations.
Personally I have lived in 3 countries and in over 50 houses. and NO shade of government has or dared to confine me to anywhere.
IMO movement is positive. It allows for better competition for excellence in ability to do a job, offers family a chance to experience the way other people live and the values they hold (and why they hold them). It allows you to find somewhere that suits YOUR priorities.
None of which has anything to do with government policies allied to left or right ideology. If you want to stay in your village with your family, do it. If economic change makes it difficult to stay there, then either change the nature of your village or change your skills. Thousands of British people did one or the other when Mrs. Thatcher closed he coal mines and put swathes of people out of work. She put in place free classes for the unemployed to retrain them and gave them financial help to support families. But the fact was that coal had no future and even though some still blame her, the overall benefits were huge to the progress of the country. Today coal fired power stations are being blown up and those who were out of work helped to create a new economy, and gave their kids a brighter future.

As I remember it, Pelosi was hiding while some cretin had his feet up on her desk.
The "idiots" were not unarmed. Let's stick with the truth, shall we? Some people were killed by the intruders.
Meanwhile Trump was watching it all on TV "armed" with a big box of popcorn and waiting to see how successful his sycophants were.
Fire up your army, retire to the top of a distant hill and watch it all in safety.

The only armed person who killed anyone was that security guard who killed an unarmed woman. No one was killed by the intruders and you know it. Since it was the Capitol that was being 'intruded', wouldn't that be the responsibility of the House police and the House Leader Pelosi to make sure there was sufficient protection from any and or all outside attacks on that building? I recall when Trump was president that he was ushered down into the bunker of the White House while leftist mobs were breaking down fences etc. outside the White House. And when the security guards there were being smoke bombed and wounded by the dozens of leftist mobs, I don't recall seeing or having any of those mobsters being arrested or doing 23-hours a day in solitary confinement like the Capitol rioters are now doing, nor did I see any Dems in congress show any kind of concern over their own mobsters trying to get to the president, just like we saw zero concern by any Democrat over the year long destruction of blue cities and with the dozens of murders associated with those mob riots.

If you actually want to stick with the truth stop pedaling that horse scat here.

As has been pointed out to you none of the rioters or demonstrators killed anyone that day.

You "remember" events that never occurred in reality.

So which rioter or demonstrator was charged with bringing a weapon into the capital you know an actual firearm

My German friends feel that the UK blundered terribly in its badly-performed 'brexit' from the EU, for it's brought disruption and a diminished economic future for all concerned -- especially the British.

Instead of starting a long, boring recitation of European history from an American's point-of-view, I'll simply observe that in its entire history, Britain has never tolerated the rise of any great continental European entity, of any kind!

They fought against the Spanish before and after Napoleon. They allied themselves with the Prussians to defeat Napoleonic France itself. Then, afterward, when the Prussians declared a united Germany (the Second 'Reich'), Britain fought against them to thwart their dominance of Europe in World War I. About ten years later, along came Hitler and the Third 'Reich', and, sure enough, Britain once again went to war to prevent a continental European alliance headed by Germany from establishing dominance.

Thus, ever since Hastings in 1066, it can be asserted, avec un sarcasme précis, that the Brits are "spoilers"... much as Aesop's "Dog in the Manger".

    You are very astute.
I am reading Michel Barnier's book right now about what actually happened in the negotiations and he remarked that the British have always had a "bulldog" approach to others, meaning they bark at strangers. (my words)
They also have some weird rosy glow about their own past, and don't really care how far back they have to go.
Plus a now genetic sense of exceptionalism and power (as long as everyone else leaves them alone) and is incredulous when they don't get their own way.
They are not a cooperative people, tending to see cooperation as a weakness. And being an island race, they are overly defensive about their territory and culture. Hence the whole White Cliffs of Dover thing. What they may not know is that directly opposite those is the whit cliffs of France, connected by a shallow channel.
I think that is good metaphor and summed up by John of Gaunt's speech

    https://shakespeare.folger.edu/shakespeares-works/richard-ii/act-2-scene-1/

Start page 59 as noted in the extract.

OTOH they are very creative, proud, adventurous, resiliant and funny.

I know them well after 40 years and while I enjoyed it for the first years, it changed and I moved on. It became nastier, more confrontational, intolerant and "unreal".So I moved.

Well I did see a rather long spear brandished by that nutter with the horns, and pictures of rifles, flagpoles etc.
As for names, please consult your law courts or media. I understand that there are over 200 cases going through the courts right now so it should be easy to find out which ones carried weapons.
TBH I am more concerned that it is accepted practise that wine is drunk at most UK Westminster government meetings. No wonder the place is a mess.

I'll leave the guns to you.

Oh my God they had pictures of guns!!! That must have been super traumatic for anyone that saw the pictures!!!

Sure leave the guns to us. We have plenty of fun with them I often go to my friend's private property in the woods and shoot all the guns I want.

And nothing dies but some empty cans!

    Guns are loads of fun!

But anyhow none of the rioters were convicted of bringing guns on to the property that day nor did they kill anyone..... I mean since you want to stick to the truth why don't we ?
