Florida is the freest state in the United States.

Over the last three years, Governor DeSantis led Florida to record-breaking economic success, which has become the envy of America. Our tax burden is the lowest per capita in the nation, our job growth far outpaces the national average, we are leading the nation in business formations, and our tourism industry is soaring even beyond its pre-pandemic levels. Despite this, federal policies are creating negative headwinds. To that end, Governor DeSantis has proposed a $1 billion gas tax holiday to help Floridians combat rising inflation and gas prices.

With politicians in Democrat-controlled cities and states AGAIN making the disastrous decision to close schools, our governor continues to stand strong for parents and students to keep schools open! We have a governor who's committed to protecting parental rights--he believes parents must have a say in their child's education, from the curriculum to the decision to vaccinate their children against COVID.

Governor DeSantis has banned Critical Race Theory in our schools. He believes if a child is subjected to any hateful or discriminating propaganda in school, parents should have legal recourse.

As a husband and father, he knows the importance of keeping our communities safe, which is why he has made it clear that Florida stands for law and order. In addition to the $1,000 bonus checks he awarded to first respondents last year, he's calling on the legislature to not only issue another round of bonuses this year but to increase pay for state law enforcement by up to 25% and to provide $5,000 bonuses for new officers, including those already serving in other states who want to relocate to Florida.

Keeping our communities safe also requires enforcing our border laws. With the federal government's indifference towards enforcing the rule of law, our government is taking action. Governor DeSantis banned sanctuary cities and was the first governor to send reinforcements to Texas to help combat the surge taking place at our southern border. He's fought to stop clandestine flights that drop off illegal immigrants in Florida. He is also introducing proposals to stop their relocation efforts and is holding those who help facilitate such underhanded policies accountable.

He understands that enforcing a strong border means protecting our communities by keeping drugs off of our streets and out of our children's hands, and he refuses to allow the federal government's immigration ineptitude.

Florida counted over 11 million ballots on Election Day. Other states took days, if not weeks, to return ballots, ultimately casting doubt on the integrity of our election process. To ensure Florida continues to lead, Governor DeSantis banned "Zuckerbucks" ballot harvesting, the mass sending of mail-in ballots and he strengthened our voter ID laws. He's prepared to take additional measures this legislative session to further ensure Floridians have confidence in our election systems.

I've lived about 15 years of my adult life in the state of Florida, and enjoyed every moment there. Unfortunately, I'm now living back in New England--Taxachusetts to be exact to be closer to most of my family members; this, despite Taxachusetts being perhaps the bluest state in the nation behind Kalifornicator, and despite it having its share of RINO governors like Romney and the current one Baker. Oh, how I hope DeSantis seeks higher office come 2024--with or without Trump on the ticket. Comparing DeSantis's governorship with that of a blue state governor is like comparing GOD to Satan.

Do you not find it amazing how the left just automatically hates on Florida no matter what their results are.
One of the fastest growing states in the US and they haven't a clue why that is.

the OP could have written the original post himself

who was the statement adressed to?? where was it published??

it is basically a political statement that pretty much is announcing that deathsantis will be running for president

    no surprise there..

and if florida is so great why does this person choose to stay in new England??

seems a wealthy governors wife could move her loved ones south but prefers to live in the north instead

she herself chooses to medical system in Massachusetts rather than florida

maybe because Massachusetts has the BEST healthcare system in the country

and since you want to crow about florida

please explain why the death rates in Florida have been the highest in the nation??

50, 000 people a day are testing positive for covid and over 100,000 tested positive just yesterday in florida alone

no matter the statistics , some people refuse to face the facts about covid and the deaths cause by stupidity

and to the people that are not afraid of covid and reply "you gotta die of something"

    I say

"you don't have to die of stupidity"

    desantis is just stupid

It has always been one of the fastest growing. Why? The climate. People move here to retire in the sun, and that is nothing new. And its cheap because wages are low, which is also why younger people do not move here.

However, the "cheap" is changing very fast, and the cost of living has begun to drive some of the middle class away. Florida is fast-tracking into becoming one of the least affordable places to live in the US. This is a problem the next governor needs to address, because the current one only brags about it like it was a good thing.

As Florida home prices spike, middle-class residents wonder if they can afford to stay

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Down on his luck in New York City, Herman “Masu” Phillips decided last fall to move to northwest Florida, a place he’d always thought of as “quiet, affordable.”

But three months after arriving in Pensacola with $3,000 in his pocket, Phillips and his children — ages 10, 8 and 6 — still haven’t found a place to live. They spend their days cuddled in a small tent, waiting for a homeless shelter to open at sunset.

“I got the money to pay for a place. I got money to pay for my electric. But I just can’t find a place,” said Phillips, 53, as his children nibbled on sandwiches in an encampment near downtown Pensacola.

If anyone was looking for cheap in Northwest Florida I don't know why they would go to Pensacola.

There are plenty of map on the dot redneck Riviera towns there.

Actually, I no longer find it amazing that leftists cannot handle the truth about the amazing job DeSantis has done in Florida, nor am I amazed that they go after America's greatest and successful governor in Ron DeSantis and that they go after the state of Florida. The biggest reason that they have nothing good to ay about Florida or about DeSantis is because both him and his state are thriving in the land of freedom, whereas, blue state governors are facing perhaps the worst economic and criminal times in the history of our nation. And someone here wondered why I moved to Taxachusettts leaving Florida behind. He must of missed the part where I said I moved back to Taxachusetts to be near most of my family and relatives. Lowest taxes in Florida and perhaps the highest taxes in Taxachusetts.

Pensacola is cheap compared to many other places, but sure, there are rural areas which are cheaper. I suppose the issue might be the 3 school age kids in that example.

I don't know about where you live, but down here real estate is getting out of control. Some of my neighbors sell their houses because they figure they'll cash in and move to a cheaper place, some even move to places Panama and Costa Rica. To each his own. If you are tired of working, and figure you can finance your retirement by selling your place, then why not.

I was born and raised in Florida and most of my family all still live there. Never heard of such. In fact, my brother just moved to Ft. Meyers 3 weeks ago.
While Florida is growing at the second highest rate in the US, places like California are having mass exoduses. So many that they are losing congressional seats.

So you can't have it both ways. Florida isn't the second fastest growing state due to high housing cost. For your information, its the same in NC, SC, GA, VA, TX, and most other southern states, not just Florida. My daughter just sold her house in SC and it was a bidding war. She got 28K more for her house than she was asking for it so don't even try to isolate Florida as some new isolated housing cost problem, because it isn't

Sounds like Herman is an idiot. Herman didn't even contact a realtor before showing up or use this new thing called the internet to find a home before showing up? Does Herman have really bad credit because Herman doesn't pay his bills? Thats about the only way you couldn't even find an apartment in Florida.

Governor DeSantis led Florida to record-breaking economic success, which has become the envy of America. Our tax burden is the lowest per capita in the nation

The states per capita tax burden is not the lowest in the the U.S. It is good but there are others that are better.

(I probably wouldn't have bothered if you had been more polite)

Well, you heard it now, and you can look up information on your own as opposed to just going by what you happen to hear. Florida is getting expensive, - very expensive vs the income levels which are pretty low due to so many working low paying jobs.

Did someone say it was? I said it was because of climate. Sure people move in, but some of the middle class who already live here is getting priced out.

Taxes have to come from somewhere. In FL property taxes are pretty high. Also "Per Capita Local Tax Collections” Florida ranks 15th in US. Florida local governments account for 54.6 percent of Florida’s total state and local revenue, the highest percentage in the nation and 21.9 percent above the U.S. average

As for "lowest State taxes", - that would be Alaska.

It was a statement provided by DeSantis wife. One which you couldn't dispute. Did you not read the OP?

So you thought the entire economics of Florida must be bad because one person lives somewhere else?
Yeah, like that makes sense. You will have to do better than that.

They aren't. All you are doing is regurgitating fake media tripe. When all you have to do is go to world meter tracking all Covid cases globally (Used by the CDC) to know that Florida has the highest population of retirees (who are the most susceptible) with the 3rd highest population in the US, but is ranked 17th in deaths per million population.
    Which beats out
    New York
    Tennessee
    Arkansas
    WV
    Michigan
    Mass
    Indiana
    Rhode Island
    Penn
    Georgia
    Oklahoma
    Miss
    Arizona
    Alabama
    New Jersey
    Louisiana

Which given the fact of the highest population of retirees and the 3rd highest population in the US, those are outstanding numbers.
But you keep up that good work on the fake media side cuz the only ones buying that BS are on the left. And nobody really cares anymore. lol

    Some much more than others.

Idaho, which ranks #1 is rate of population increase, saw their real estate prices go up 36%.
    Florida 25%
    Texas 18%
    Ohio 15%
    Louisiana 10%

I am sure it varies by region within the State. In Florida, Miami-Ft Lauderdale is probably going up faster than most other places.

Which is the very same in dozens of other states right now. Nothing exclusive to Florida

if that were the case, why do you have such a mass exodus from the best climate state in the US. California

The problem (as I stated earlier) in Florida is the fact that much of our middle class doesn't earn enough to cover such high rents and prices.

The answer was already posted here.

Which is no different anywhere else right now. Average rental rates in Florida don't even make the top ten most expensive.

    1. Hawaii ($1,617)
    2. California ($1,503)
    3. Maryland ($1,392)
    4. New Jersey ($1,334)
    5. Massachusetts ($1,282)
    6. New York ($1,280)
    7. Colorado ($1,271)
    8. Washington ($1,258)
    9. Alaska ($1,244)
    10. Virginia ($1,234)
In fact their average rental rate is around $1100.00

So nobody has any clue what you're talking about. Including people who live in Florida

My girlfriend and I get a steal of a deal here in Florida. We have a one bedroom mobile home that also has a loft upstairs for $400 a month.

Now granted it's a sweetheart deal from a friend but something around here like that goes for 700 generally.

Of course I had the good sense to leave Tampa in 2010. You couldn't pay me to live in a large metro area anymore

You don't get it. Affordability is calculated by looking at incomes vs rental/real estate prices aka what people can afford, and Florida is becoming expensive for those who live and work here. Also, average rental in metro areas like Miami and Ft Lauderdale, where the jobs are, is over $2300.

Sure, people who move from Boston or NYC can easily pick up a place and pay cash, but locals are being squeezed out.

Having said that, there are still cheap places in FL, but they won't be around the more popular areas or near the beach.

I was pretending to be high class one day, even wash my minivan before I set out.... Drove over to Boca grande to do some fishing and check out the beach and I splurged and went in the restaurant there.

One of the locals could be heard to complain, that it was such a shame that the billionaires were running the millionaires clean off the island.

There are still relatively cheap places in Florida like where I live, but you don't live on Boca grande but that you got some good money

Floridas average rental rate statewide is $1100. There are always high dollar apartments in every state but it isn't even close to the average.
Florida isn't any different right now than most other states in the current economy.

There are some neighborhoods here too which are obnoxiously expensive where pro athletes, Wayne Huizenga etc live, but I was not referring to that. You can't buy a house for less than $15M there
