It is essential that the United States support its democratic NATO allies in resolutely crushing the "savvy genius"'s brutal aggression in his scheme to re-create what Reagan had dubbed the "Evil Empire."

The previous regime had capriciously withheld essential military assistance from Ukraine for petty, partisans reasons, and had repeatedly attacked the vital role that NATO plays in protecting western Europe.

Fortunately, those benighted policies did not prevail.

Trump is undoubtedly grateful to Putin for interfering in the 2016 presidential election to help him and hurt Clinton, and his vendetta against Zelenskyy for refusing to contrive trumped-up criminal charges against the President is obvious, but Citizen Trump's personal affections and resentments cannot be allowed to weaken America's resolve to defend liberty.

 

So was the U.S. Congress, but Trump withheld the allocated vital military assistance to pressure Zelinskyy to contrive fake criminal charges against Biden.

In any event, someone appears to have finally convinced the Loser that praising Putin and crapping on NATO is not helpful.

Trump couldn't belch without the left claiming it was some kind of statement of treason. That of course is the product of hate, weakness and an inferiority complex. Trump said it; it must be bad. Biden screws everyone, there must be a good redeeming reason. They believe that like they believe in the sunrise.Except- it's a product of a mindset rather than the nature of the universe.

And the people who allow their minds to run amuck like that have neither a clue to what they are doing, or any concern whatever over what it is doing to the nation.

 

Small minds don't have room for the whole picture- so they don't look, and never understand even the little ones.

As you note, Trump's blocking vital military assistance to Ukraine that Congress had voted was illegal, and the aid resumed.

His attempt to put pressure on Zalinskyy to contrive fake criminal charges against Biden failed, and his attacks on NATO did not succeed either.

Thanks. Beautiful post. Yes, leadership matters. When I said it doesn't matter who is in the White House, I meant more in terms of how the public and congress criticizes the occupant. Regardless of who is there, the other party and the voters for the other party will always be against whatever that person does. But yes, of course, there are better presidents, average presidents, and weak presidents, with more or less leadership. As for your beautiful William Faulkner words, I'm less optimistic. He said them during the post-war period when things were looking up. Nowadays I think this world is definitely going in the wrong direction.

 

Only a fool openly insults people that they will have to confront for the hell of it. Putin speaks of others as if he had no ulterior motives, but then you see he makes a move damn near out of the Nazi playbook to invade Europe. Trump was not president in 2016, which is when Congress decided to US ramp up the aid, and Trump did everything in his power to stop it. Heck, we was IMPEACHED for refusing to carry it out.

 

He did carry it out. Impeachment is nothing but an accusation. What were the results of that accusation? What did Zelensky say about it? Were criminal charges brought forth saying hey, impeach and remove him so we can charge him with this crime?

It's also indisputable that Putin just indirectly threatened us with nukes twice within a week, and Biden has NOT responded.

I would tell Putin that if you threaten us one more time with nukes and we declare Ukraine a no fly zone and call your bluff. In any case Biden needs to respond to these threats, and the importance of him doing so is thousands of times the magnitude of the relevance of a Zellensky phone call years ago.

It is very irresponsible, and frankly weak, to make these threats when no administration aligned against him has come close to this rhetoric.

After I responded, I'd say secretly, let's me, you, and Zellensky get together tomorrow.

I would not be surprised to see Ukrainian troops go after the soft rear area support areas, the air depots, the fuel dumps, the motor pools, etc. It's a lot easier for a dozen folk to smash aircraft on the ground then at 30.000 feet.
