A new Quinnipiac poll released Monday revealed a sharp partisan divide in how Americans would react if invaded by a foreign power.

The pollster asked Americans what they would do if they found themselves in the same position as the average Ukrainian right now, subjected to a violent invasion by a hostile country: stay and fight for their home, or abandon it and flee the country. Fifty-five percent of respondents in total said they would stay and fight, while 38% said they’d flee.

When broken down by party affiliation, both Republicans and Independents said they would stay to fight by margins of 68% to 25% and 57% to 36%, respectively, according to the poll. Democrats, however, were more likely to say they would flee; 52% said they would leave the country,….

he results of the poll are no surprise to me. The democrats think America was never that great. They deny our exceptional nature as a nation. Republicans and independents would join in and fight.

Republicans such as myself would dig in and fight to defend our nation and many independents would too. Biden would likely lead the fleeing democrats abroad, while Trump would be just like the Ukrainian President.

This is very interesting. I am not surprised by the results of this survey.

But the question is exactly why. What leads to such a difference in attitudes?

Do those who affiliate with the Democrat Party have less to lose? Do they feel less invested in the country? What is it?

Oh, and if they did have to flee, where would they go?
Suppose all those Western European countries and other White English-speaking countries refused to take them in. What part of the world would they want to go to?

In any event, it is an utterly ridiculous hypothetical.

I wonder what the D/R/I breakdown would be for this question...

If Martians Invaded, would you stay and fight or leave the country?

That's the way things are. Those who didn't really endure hardship to build a country always want to run things until the going gets tough. Then they are out. Hence the dems.

I'm not going to some other country to fight, but if they bring the fight to me specifically to my county my city and especially the block I live on, ( or any of the blocks nearby that my neighbors live on) then it's time for s*** to get real.

I'm not trying to be the nail that sticks up the highest but don't bring your Hammer over here

What would you do if you picked up the telephone and the poleases and 9 One One did not answer your call and the hostilities came a calling, round about your way?

    Democrat Party
    • Democrats believe in bringing the American people together, not stoking division and distrust. President Trump....
    • The economy is not working for the American people. President Trump....
    • Climate change is a global emergency. The last four years have seen record-breaking storms, devastating wildfires, and historic floods.
    • Our criminal justice system is failing to keep communities safe—and failing to deliver justice.
    • Democrats believe that we can only be strong in the world when we are strong and united at home. President Trump....
    • Democrats are committed to a durable and inclusive political settlement in Afghanistan that ensures that al-Qaeda isn’t allowed to reconstitute, the Islamic State (ISIS) isn’t allowed to grow, and the international community can help Afghans safeguard hard-fought gains, especially for women and girls.

    Republican Party
    • We believe in American exceptionalism.
    • We believe the United States of America is unlike any other nation on earth.
    • We believe America is exceptional because of our historic role — first as refuge, then as defender, and now as exemplar of liberty for the world to see.
    • We affirm — as did the Declaration of Independence: that all are created equal, endowed by their Creator with inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
    • We believe in the Constitution as our founding document.
    • As Americans and as Republicans we wish for peace — so we insist on strength. We will make America safe. We seek friendship with all peoples and all nations, but we recognize and are prepared to deal with evil in the world.

I'm surprised that the Dem's weren't higher for leaving....like 75%. After the midterms, it will be much higher.

"If the candidate you intend to vote for in the 2020 presidential election isn't elected, how interested, if at all, would you be in moving to Canada?"
    Dem - 41%
    Rep - 19%
    Ind - 28%

So, Canada it seems. They do speak French too.

    NO.
They value life and the lives of their children, and understand that material goods are less important than living under a foreign regime.

Maybe it is because Republicans do not believe they could find the same freedoms they have in America in another country.

Whereas Democrats seem to be less concerned over those types of freedom ideals.

But I do wonder if Democrats might act the same way if it were a different type of freedom at stake? Maybe the freedoms Democrats value can be more easily found in other countries?

(Or maybe Democrats are just completely ignorant what things are like in many other parts of the world. That could be a possibility too. So they would not be concerned about going certain other places because they just have no conception of the problems there.)

Then the Republicans have a very restricted understanding of the ROW.
    No country is exceptional.

I don't like it when people use acronyms. Sorry, no idea what that means.

Okay then. What if Progressives had to choose to leave to any country that was not in Western Europe and not a (former British populated) White English-speaking country?

(Also you can't go to all those developed Asian countries Japan, South Korea, Taiwan or Singapore)

    Where would you go?

Do you still claim no country is exceptional?

I would love, love, love to see this. Maybe they should take a bunch of Progressives and do a reality show, if it's possible for a reality show to go on for several years.

What wasn't a British colony at one time or another?
You have sort of cut out half the world.

It's okay, I don't mind. ROTW is as bad as ROW, to me.

It depends on whether you have kids and believe in feminism. I'd take the kids and go, because it's their turn this go around. I think we should give them the opportunity to experience all the privileges and obligations afforded to men. It's time for us to evolve as a society.

I specifically singled out majority White-populated British areas (places that got mostly populated by British people). So that still leaves any other former British colonies open to choose.

But, since "ROW" is an actual word, using it as an acronym is more confusing.
