So there really are jobs for Winston Smith in Canada.

Trudeau-appointed librarian ordered purge of online historical archives

Canada’s top librarian personally directed her staff to wipe federal websites of content she deemed offensive.

According to Blacklock’s Reporter, chief archivist Leslie Weir told employees at Library and Archives Canada to purge thousands of pages, including a biography of Canada’s first prime minister Sir John A. Macdonald.

“We need to discuss having a disclaimer on the website about having content that may offend people. I feel very strongly about that,” Weir said in an email on June 9, 2021.

“Much of the content on the Library and Archives Canada website reflects the time at which it was written. We understand much of this outdated historical content no longer reflects today’s context and may be offensive to many.

Canada has been failing the democracy test hard the past year.

Purge of 'offensive content' in national archives a guess to employees

Employees at the national archives web pages say when their boss ordered a purge of “offensive content,” they had to guess what met with his disapproval because the order was so sweeping.

According to Access to Information records, Canada’s chief archivist Leslie Weir personally ordered the content removal on thousands of national archives web pages, reports Blacklock’s Reporter.

This sounds like the very definition of the word "Orwellian".

according to several other news sources, several articles were removed and deleted.

Canada's national library, which bills itself as "custodian of our distant past and recent history" has deleted a history of the prime ministers from its website, with archivists having labelled it "outdated and redundant."
A search on the Library and Archives Canada website now yields an error page, and a news release entitled "spring cleaning" explains that the feature, called First Among Equals, has now been removed, along with a handful of other historical records.
The library also deleted a website dedicated to the War of 1812 and a poetry archive, a news release explained.

Just another way of censoring and changing history to appease the present regime. The Nazi's did the same thing in WWII Germany for the same purpose.

I PERSONALLY FELT THAT I WAS PURGED FROM CANADA'S LIBERAL PARTY BACK IN 2015......I LIKED BEING A MEMBER OF CANADA'S LIBERAL PARTY AT THE LOCAL LEVEL.... BUT THE OFFICIAL DISCUSSION FORUM WAS RAN IN A SERIOUSLY AUTHORITARIAN MANNER!

PRO-LIFE LIBERALS OR BLUE LIBERALS WERE PERSONA NON GRATA AT THAT TIME.....

AFTER MY 2008 campaign writing joining the Liberals in 2009 was actually one of the only options left to people like me who take climate change seriously...... but DO NOT support a Carbon Tax......
