Hmmm... Why would Democrats "vote UP" a motion to consider GOP legislation that would reverse several Biden administration energy policies??

You’ve never heard of limiting supply to keep prices high?

I have now and it's laughable. You people hate oil companies whether they're producing too much oil or not producing enough oil. Having it your own way are you?

I don’t hate a company. It does what it does. Why aren’t you demanding to drill more? 90% is coming from private land and has nothing to do with Biden.

Let an Oil ceo tell you

“Whether it’s $150 oil, $200 oil, or $100 oil, we’re not going to change our growth plans,’’ Pioneer Chief Executive Officer Scott Sheffield said during a Bloomberg Television interview. “If the president wants us to grow, I just don’t think the industry can grow anyway.’’

Honest question, if you provided a product that was very high in demand and could either:

    A) limit risk and supply to have a very large profit margin

    -or-

    B) take on risk to lower supply and have a lower profit margin

    Which would you take? Honestly

Yah there’s no way. It’s always more here in the bay and it’s like 3 bucks less than that here.

Gas is more expensive in California than a 5-star diner. Is this really worth the resistance to Putin?

The cost of getting oil out of the ground has increased with the cost of labor, materials, transportation and regulations and being threatened with more regulations and higher cost and higher taxes.

Congress is doing Biden's bidding read my sig

Americans consume 20 million barrels of oil a day. This pipeline would supply 600,000 barrels a day. You're kidding yourself if you think it would lower prices.

Stopping new leases had no effect? With COVID-19 lockdowns, Biden was just dumb.

    https://www.doi.gov/pressreleases/f...phold-commitment-restore-balance-public-lands

For WY, new leases in 2020: 465. In 2021: 11.

    Number of leases (total):
    2019: 38,294
    2020: 37,496 (covid)
    2021: 12,464 (Biden)

The big one, Total Number of Acres Leased During the Year:
    2019: 2, 245,906
    2020: 1,871,962 (covid)
    2021: 249,132 (Biden)

    https://www.blm.gov/programs-energy-and-minerals-oil-and-gas-oil-and-gas-statistics

I didn't mention ANWR yet, Biden whacked that too. It's not JUST one pipeline, is it? FJB

It's so weird reading these coments. People literally saying we need to build the XL pipeline so that we don't have to import foreign oil.
It's like they don't know that the XL pipeline is uniquely designed to import unrefined oil from....Canada. Which, last time I checked, is a foreign country. Project built by TC Energy, which is Canadian.
So the ONLY thing this project would do is make the refineries in Texas more profitable. Could this lead to savings at the pump? conceivably a minimal amount, but probably not (in all probability the refinerers would keep the prices the same as their competitors, but having a cheaper production cost would pocket the extra profits) it really depends on the market condition
One thing it does not do is stop our dependence on foreign oil. To the contrary, it probably would increase it (no need to drill in the US, if you can get it cheaply delivered to you)

Well, Canada though a foreign nation is one that is literally aligned with our borders(specifically our Northern border) so access via Canada would be simple and straight forward. Whereas by contrast middle eastern oil will probably both be more expensive and more of a haggle given antagonism from ME countries.

No problem whatsoever with that argument. I am just pointing out that those arguing that the XL pipeline would diminish our need for foreign oil seem to be completely unaware that this increases our dependence on foreign oil and is a project by a foreign company.
Also that if XL did indeed bring more canadian oil to US refineries, it does not necesarily mean a large saving to the customer. A company now getting cheaper raw material does not necessarily mean that the savings are passed on to the customer. Remember that the US DRAMATICALLY increasing local production due to fracking over the last decade did not necessarily make gas cheaper at the pump.
So yes, I certainly understand the proponents of the XL pipeline, but it is also important to argue with actual proper information. Clearly a lot of posters here are confused as to what the XL pipeline actually is

    1. The number you pointed is wrong. The number of leases during 2021 is 35,871.

    2. We want to look at producing acres, not total acres necessarily because some of those lands go unused because they are not profitable.

    FY 2019: 12,915,006
    FY 2020:12,711,111
    FY 2021: 12,607,203
