That didn’t turn out so well for Ukraine. But apparently they serve as quite the deterrent being Russia is avoiding a butt whooping just for having some.

Unclear. Conservatives keep saying to call Putin's bluff on nukes. Maybe Putin would have called Ukraine's bluff too. But I was talking about a global policy, not some small country getting rid of its nukes when it sits next to a hostile country with the largest stockpile. It's not a new idea - but lately the policy has been this hypocritical notion of the nations with the biggest stockpiles taking nukes away, or attempting to prevent the nuclear armament of smaller countries like Ukraine, North Korea, and Iran.

After seeing what has happened to Ukraine I would never advocate to get rid of nukes. The best deterrent to war may be to give every country nukes.

Nuclear weapons have saved the world from a third world war since 1945.

The first problem is the dictatorships.

Democracies don't wage war against each other.

It's good if it successfully allows deterrence. But the moment that deterrence fails, it's catastrophic. We got lucky in the Cold War. We came close more than once to millions dying. Not every nation is going to have a stable genius as leader all the time. One nation could think it has a counter to nukes, and be correct or incorrect. This becomes more likely with advances in technology. But every nation could work to eliminate nuclear armament for everybody.

Why is that WWIII? 1 country that can’t handle Ukraine VS the World = WWIII? Actual World wars never had it so easy

Yes they do ..but the scales are definitely tipped that direction.. so are you suggesting that Democracies only wage war on Dictatorships :) to bring "Freedom - Liberty" in some ethnocentric delight. something like that ?

I won't ask you what you would do if you were Biden, because you wouldn't have anything to say.

I will only mention that thanks to Biden and NATO, Ukraine will most probably win this war and Russia will go through the worst economic crisis in its history.

It is still hard to predict how Ukraine will end up from this..........but Russia will (and has already) lose a LOT.........

A former general (I think it was Wesley Clark) said on MSNBC that the Russian army has only 8-10 days left before it runs out of ammunition, food and equipment.

The Russians have not even managed to surround Kiev yet and the Ukrainian army is receiving all the weapons sent by the West.

This is all easy to end in a few quick steps.

    (1) Confirm that Ukraine will not be admitted to NATO
    (2) USA go all in on Natural Gas / Drilling
    (3) Crack a beer

Russia goes fully insolvent and it's over. I do have to give credit to the world leaders that cut Russia off economically. As we speak, Russia is going insolvent and now telling investors that they can get paid back in Rubles.... you're better taking payment in Pesos.

They have. Clearly, even if they take the cities, it will promptly devolve into the insurgency from hell.

HOW’S IT GOING, VLADIMIR? “In 36 days of fighting on Iwo Jima during World War II, nearly 7,000 Marines were killed. Now, 20 days after President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia invaded Ukraine, his military has already lost more soldiers…”
Even if the Russians continue, the worst is yet to come and they have already lost more men, quicker, than we lost in some of the most brutal fighting in WWII.

The Russian troops must know by now that most of the planet is against them (and their dictator leader). That has to affect them psychologically too. By becoming a pariah leader/ country......Russia's stance in the world is gravely affected now too. Russia has inadvertently given China a lot more power now.......... and that will leave it vulnerable to China's whims.

Baloney. Biden has done nothing. That is why the leader of Ukraine was begging Congress for help today.

As far as what I would do, I am not the president so it doesn't matter.

What "civilian deaths" are you referring to with each of these numbers?

No, Trump supporters are sane. Trump cultists and groupies are not. It's the latter two and the Orange Stain that want WW III. The sad part is it's far less expensive and destructive for him to just see a licensed mental health professional.

Biden has been a major screw up on virtually every decision. But, we need to be honest and give credit when it is due. He did support the economic disenfranchisement of Russia. It's hurting them huge. As of tomorrow, Russia will be defaulting all over the place. They have already announced that they will not pay debts as promised in dollars, but instead in the near worthless ruble. It was not just Biden, but many of the economic powerhouses in the world also embraced the move. Biden did not get that one wrong.

I do not want to be paying off the MIC when we could just bankrupt Russia with oil/gas production.

Clearly the Socialist Left supporters here want WW III, not the "Trump supporters here". But, Putin is a Socialist Left perestroika supporter too. Not so much glasnost though. Funny that Leo Brezhnev was senile too, just like Brandon.

    Trump supporter!

I see too many eager to get into this war and they cover the entire political spectrum.

Debacle: Russia loses 4th general in combat, stalls at Odessa

How does one lose 4 generals in 3 weeks?

As for the "Domino Theory", if Russia can't successfully invade it's next door neighbor it shares a land border with, how is it going to invade the next one after that?
"If generals are getting picked off by snipers because they’re up front, it likely means that they can’t get their units disciplined enough to function properly without direct command supervision."

Not if NATO makes their goal very clear. It’s not to defeat Russia but drive them back to their homeland. I agree you don’t want to corner him but we damn sure shouldn’t stand by and watch this murder spree
