You know that the Bible is a supernatural book, don't you? Just take one part of it, the uncanny prediction of events far in the future, things nobody could guess or even consider plausible? A nation created in a day? Who else would have tried to predict that?
There is an interesting documentary called "the Coming Convergence", and unless you have watched, I'd rather not hear about the flying spagetti monster or your misconstruing of the Word of God, the Bible. http://thecomingconvergence.com/

    Amen.

If we couldn't detect dark matter we couldn't create a pie chart like the one you posted!

As I've pointed out, what you have said amounts to unfounded insults to all who are experts in fields of science, suggesting they are worshipers of "scientism".

THEN, you said that religion and science can be complementary.

There is no way to consider that you have explained that!

My thoughts? Mankind has a tendency to follow the fallen angels in "Rebellion Against God". Because "love" by definition, always allows for sovereign choice. Just like the angels, some choose to be apart from God. God created a place for them and it is "hell" in contrast to being in Heaven with God. God, in the person of Jesus, became a man and took on men's weakness. He did that to pay a ransom for our sinful nature. Again, we have a choice. The choice is free. All we have to do is "believe in His Provision, and then walk accordingly in His Spirit.

I only think of Holly places around Christmas time.Usually above a door. Churches are not exactly "Holy" places. When we allow Jesus into out hearts, that is the only place that becomes Holy, and only due to His provision. Christians are prone to fail just like everybody. When they fail, they despise it. That is the only difference. They do not celebrate or glorify their failures.

Do you believe that "walk accordingly in His Spirit" includes Matthew 25:31 to end, plus exhibiting the characteristics of the life of Jesus in treatment of foreigners, sinners, etc.?

I agree with you that my statement about our higher nature to the divine kinda "jumps the track." You might view it more as a bridge that stops at a cloud. My point is that if its not of the natural world, and if it is our higher nature, then it must originate from a higher plane.

I most certainly do. I also believe 1st Peter 2:13 and beyond. In fact, I believe the entire Word of God. Thanks for quoting scripture. We all need to be in the Word more.

"He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it".....I believe that is also true. If anyone says they love God and continues to "walk" in sin, they are just playing a "religious game" and the love of God is not in them.

While I would agree to the question "Do you think parts of the Bible are "supernatural" - the claim that we know this for sure simply false - self deception.

This delusion seems rather common since 7 voted "Absolutely Not" -- as if we could know for sure whether or not God woke up the morning of creation and decided to curse humans .. or what the name of the God was.

It gets even more ridiculous when the folks who claim to believe in the "Supernatural Book" - give a different name and different creation account than what the book gives. This would then be what .. delusion x 2 ?

    RE: Has God cursed mankind?
    SUBTOPIC: What is the Supernatural?
    ⁜→ Giftedone, et al,

    Define Supernatural
    !
In almost any of the religions worldwide, any of various good and evil manifestations and spirits that mediate between the supernatural and human realms. Using amulets, charms, incantations, magic, prayer, spells, and talisman (just to name a few) to achieve such goals or objectives which are beyond the explanation of the physical universe. It is something that is not subject to the examination by the Scientific Method. It is NOT physics - but - (one of many aspects to) metaphysics (what is reality).

    (COMMENT)

If you believe in a deity, then you believe in something that is supernatural. If you believe that any religious rite can transmute (example:
changing one thing into another or impart an unidentifiable property or quality), then you believe in alchemy which is one aspect of the supernatural. Most people who hold a belief in one of the Abrahamic religions, they unknowingly believe in the supernatural.

You cannot subject "prayer" to the scientific method - any more than you can subject "string theory" to the scientific method.

All I know is that God is real and that he lives. We have all forgotten him because our mortal life has blotted him out or hidden him from us. So life is nearer a dream than real in that regard. God sent his spirit into my dream of life to awaken me to life in him. And as one awakens from a dream which they think is real while they are in it. They realize upon waking that yes this is my real life and my dream was but a dream. So too is life in God something like this. You recognize and remember him just as you recognize and remember your life when you awaken from sleep and leave your dreams behind, except to maybe recall and reflect upon them later while going about your daily business.

Gods spirit filled my heart with peace and charity until I thought I might burst. But in cognizance of his spirits goodness, I allowed the hardness of my hearts resistance to give way, and his spirit to fill my whole soul with peace and my mind with pure light. It swept the table of my soul and laid down my obstacles with charity rather than wrath. So brought he peace to me. In kindness he closed his eyes to my extensive wickedness and unworthiness and called me to repentance.

So in response to the OP about whether or not we are cursed by God. I think that whether we are cursed or blessed, we should be grateful for his interest, because it is all for the sake of his love for us and his concern for our eternal welfare. Without him, we would not even be. Whose place then is more rightful than God in the matter?

Who is subjecting prayer to Scientific Method .. someone been pulling your chain - methinks ?

What is being subjected to basic logic and reason - is the claim that one knows "For Sure" - "Defacto" "100% without Doubt" that

    1) The Bible is supernatural -- parts of which I claimed to believe are as such - obviously not all as that would be silly . and big difference between believing something and claiming it is defacto True .. as was done in the OP.

    2) That YHWH is the name of the "The Most High"

Not to be flippant. But I think it's supernatural to think that we and all things exist without the existence of God.

I see the way Jesus led his life and the statements he made concerning how we should live our lives as important to everyone.

I don't believe his message on how we should live our lives, his philosophy, is somehow restricted to Christians.

Surely it applies to us atheists as well.

At this point I would like to introduce game theory to the discussion. If we do not accept there is a God, then we cannot claim He cursed us. If we do accept there is a God, then we can make such a claim, but being cursed by an omnipotent being means we are doomed collectively and individually. I don't see that happening, certainly not in the context of the prophecy cited.

While I believe there is a God, I do not think any single religion has a monopoly on the truth about His nature. In my opinion His nature and motives are beyond our grasp. All we can understand is ourselves in the end. We are created as social creatures and have rules to facilitate our interactions. Those rules evolve as our understanding grows. We are not perfect now, but we're making progress.

I would claim we are not cursed, but blessed by God, that we are each capable of having a life with meaning.

There are only two real moral principles: first, do no harm; and second, if you have the power to help, you have an obligation to do so.

I think that philosophy becomes harder to hear when it is promoted as religion.

The philosophy of Jesus holds value whether or not one believes Jesus is a god. When it is promoted as a requirement of god or a message directed to Christians, it raises questions.

It becomes hard to study in school, for example, when the theism is required.

I really like that last paragraph!!

I'm not so sure about the "blessed by god" part.

If you accept that your life can have meaning, you are blessed. If you don't believe it came from God, the blessing remains. If you do believe in God, He is the source.

If you do not believe your life can have meaning, I honestly don't know what I can say, except I'm sorry.

PS I can't take credit for either of those principles in the last paragraph. The first comes from the Hippocratic Oath and the second is really its corollary.

    Yes, we are in agreement.

You are not being "flippant at all." Many people believe in some sense, that there is Supreme Being or Deity; even if theydon't realize it. And many people believe that there is a "higher power" or "supernatural entities" in some respect.

    (COMMENT)

I think if you go back and reread my comment, you will see that I said → "You cannot subject "prayer" to the scientific method." Prayer is an attempt to establish communication with a "Supernatural entity."

IF, you truly have an interest in the "Noetic Science" - THEN I invite you to read:

There is exploratory research into the realm of the Metaphysics and the Noetic Science.

Now to answer your question: Prayer, being a means of communication, is thought to be related to "Supernatural Energies." As technology improves, periodically the electromagnetic spectrum is searched for such energies.

    • Supernatural or “dark energy” intrusions have historically been left to the priests, medicine men, and shamans. These intrusions can now be addressed via the Dynamic EnergeticHealing® …
